It's society's fault for putting these people on a pedestal. They're paid very well (overpaid actually) to pretend and play make-believe. They're not curing cancer or feeding the hungry. If a group is stranded on a desert island, how many people would choose having an actor there with them over a doctor or a carpenter? Actors desperately need to get over themselves...

ok so who instead she be getting the money that movies generate?
should the producers just keep it?
or should disney keep more profits and not pay the cast so highly?
actors and directors are not overpaid.
if i recommend a movie about a scientist from the 1930s and 40s with a strange foreign name then you might not be interested.
if i then say it stars cillian murphy, matt damon and is directed by chris nolan then suddenly your more interested.
stars have pulling power. always have. hollywood learned this in the 1920s.
so no, actors are not overpaid.

    • @nursejoed
      @nursejoed Рік тому

@@NeilLewis77 I think the recent strikes highlighted that the majority of actors are not overpaid. I was referring to the ones who can "afford" to be obnoxious and treat people badly because they're a box office draw. Hell, yeah they're overpaid. However, I stand by my words. They're grown-ups getting tremendous amounts of money to pretend to be someone else- they need to get over themselves. For that matter, I think our society is crazy for the amount of money that grown people get to chase inflated balls around on a field or court.

    • @NeilLewis77

@@nursejoed but again I'd ask what else do you want to do with that money?
Millions of people pay money to see tom cruise.
Millions of people pay money to see Leo Messi.
If we don't give the money that people are paying to see them, to them, who else do we give it too?
Ceo's or club chairmen? Who exactly?
      No, actors are not overpaid.
      Footballers are not over paid.
Everyone pays to see them, so give them their money.
I'm not in anyway denying that celebrities and sports stars are arrogant.
      Of course they are.
If they were humble and down to earth and "got over themselves" as you put it then they wouldn't become actors or sports stars in the first place.
You have to be arrogant to do those jobs.
But yes I agree they are bloody arrogant.
But I don't agree that they money they earn should be given to someone else.
      It's theirs.
I'm not paying to see some Hollywood executive or some LFC shareholder.
I'm paying to see Leo di cario and no Salah.

Method actors and bad reputations seem to go hand in hand. Marlon Brando was famously difficult to work with as was Richard Harris and so is Daniel Day Lewis and Val Kilmer had a terrible reputation as well. Peter Sellers was well known to be 'difficult' among many directors of that era (although mental health issues seemed to play a part there). I must admit i'm surprised to hear Morgan Freeman being described as a 'predator', first i've heard about that and if it is true then i'm disappointed that such a revered movie star sunk that low.

There's a great story about Richard Harris doing a film where he had to be sober (think it might have been 1978's The Wild Geese) and several of the film crew had worked on the 1962 film Mutiny on the Bounty in which he starred alongside Marlon Brando (who Harris disliked). They told him of the mad drunken antics he had got up to in the earlier film and yet he had no memory of them at all even saying ""That shocked me. They were hilarious stories, and I didn't even have the joy of remembering my own exploits."

Yeah but Daniel Day Lewis wasn't a douchebag in real life, opposite to everyone else.
Yeah it was difficult to work on set because he method acted to the extreme (infamously he stood totally in character during My left foot shootings, he lived on a wheelchair and was spoon feeded) but never assaulted crew and cast, neither he took pranks or sexually abused anyone, as far as we know.
And for what that matters, he worked both ways too since he let Paul Dano slapping him a lot of times in There will be blood 🤣

@@NekoHibaCosplay That's a good point actually. He might have been infuriating to work with due to his level of professionalism but you never hear stories of Day Lewis abusing cast and crew on film sets

What about Klaus Kinski? He was so unhinged that the only director who was brave enough to work with him was Werner Herzog. But even he had his running feud with Kinski. He even made a documentary about their combative relationship called My Best Fiend.

It's both fame and temperament. Shame about Hofman and Meryl Streep. Casey seems cool. Ben is fantastic actor and person. Sean is fantastic too. I heard Gerard can be a jerk sometimes. I don't believe about Morgan. No way. Jennifer is great singer but actress no. Everyone can be labeled as predator. It's disgusting.

Many listed here are put up on a pedestal because of their talent and it seemingly goes to their heads...
No one should ever believe they are irreplaceable for any reason...there are actors in dinner theater and musicians in dive bars that can do the exact same , if not better, as anyone on the list... they just haven't gotten the opportunity...😊

I like it how, there are over a hundred female actresses they could have put on this list but only went with three, instead, opting for men that they could blame of sexual harassment, even though now in the Post MeToo world, many of those situations have actually come out as lies. At least have an even number of men and women.

I think it's so ridiculous that all of these actors are just automatically labled "predators" and "abusers" just because some people want to either make some money from a settlement or get 5 min of fame. I'm not saying the guys are never guilty, I just don't buy it when someone brings up something from a decade or more ago, no proof. Just their word is enough to destroy a life. Just sad.

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk Me came out in 92, one a year after the series ended in 91, so it’s not “many years later” that the character of Donna Hayward was replaced by Mora Kelly in Fire Walk With Me, it’s one year later.
