Hi Christopher, as someone who grew up with the Beatles in real time from 1962/63 - I have never been satisfied with any of the CDs that have been issued or the remixes. It is the same with Revolver. I have listened to these albums on vinyl so many times until the were completely worn out - but i know them by heart, very intricately and intimately. I think for somebody such as yourself who grew up in another period when music recording and production had become more mature technically - that you would like this Revolver. But i tell you what. These days i listen to music on my Maggies. These speakers give such depth, horizontal expanse in their sound stage with such clarity that you would believe they aren't even there. With these speakers when i listen to revolver or any others I notice my speakers and go oh, this sound is coming from that speaker. That is not what i like. However, i put on a 1966 vinyl and the music is there - it presents a beautiful sound stage. And Eleanor Rigby - well the strings are exactly where they are supposed to be. One of these days, i will get a turn table and hunt down some original vinyl in mint condition so that i can listen once again to the music that i love. One other thing, Sgt. Pepper - I hated every CD mix of it that was produced and then came the latest remix. Yes, it is a bit different but it was SO darn close to the impact of the original album in my somatic memory that i was overjoyed to once again hear the music i love so much. Thanks for your review. Everyone is different in their taste for music. Glad that you are a champion of celebrating good music. Cheers! Oh yes, take a listen to hear for 1966 Revolver Vinyl ua-cam.com/video/x_JOOtOBYKA/v-deo.html
Very exciting! Love this album ❤️
Great review. Thanks and congratulations on your premier video. I have been collecting Beatles records since the late 70s and I have many fairly unique items. It was the Beatles that got me into playing music and collecting guitars as well. Revolver has always been one of my favourites and the remixes sure do shine. However, I believe Sgt. Pepper's remix was just slightly better. Ringo kicks serious butt in this one however.
Congratulations on your new channel! No better place to start than with the best Beatles album, IMHO.
Great unboxing, Chris! Between The Buttons is my favorite Stones album from the 60s. The US version, 😀
I love that one too!!! Thanks Jamie!!!!
Congratulations on the first video. I'll look forward to your future video's.
Thanks so much, Paul! I appreciate your support :)
Aftermath was my favourite early stones album too. All because of lady Jane
It is a great record indeed!
Great video! Got the vinyl set yesterday! Still listening and re-listening. Sounds great! Long live the Beatles!
Those pages look so crisp I'm actually cringing worrying about paper cuts! 🤣
Great review!! I love those pics from the Book. Thanks a lot.
Glad you like them!
Great job. I also cut & save the shrink wrap on box sets as another layer of protection. Looks much better
Thank you! I agree re: shrink wrap. Sets and records look better longer IMHO. Thanks so much for watching!
My favorite early Stones album also was aftermath. Lady Jane was the one.
You and Kevin Lee need to meet lol! Great album.
Remember.i believe it's the mono mix made into stereo.singleing every sound on a track of its own.the peter Jackson way.
Yes exactly. The technology allowed the team to separate tracks that had a reduction mix (i.e. many instruments combined onto one track). However, even though we can hear things a little clearer, it is still one tape generation away from the original recording sadly. God bless Peter Jackson, though, for us to be able to hear the details long hidden!
@@spinninground but why didn't they recorded digitally because if it was recorded digitally it wouldn't be one tape away from the real thing would it
The bigger thing that confused me on this set:
Tomorrow Never Knows (RM 11 and I'm Only Sleeping (RM 1) along with the mono versions of Rain and Paperback Writer aren't on the mono album, with the stereo remixes coming after their respective outtakes. That's one odd design quirk i understandn't.
No this is great for me because I wasn't able to get the 2014 mono box because at the time I had only been collecting Beatles and vinyl for a short amount of time so it was just too much money at the time to invest I thought (although I really wish I had of bought it now). Even though I went on to get an original 60s UK mono first press of EVERY SINGLE BEATLES ALBUM upto of course Abbey And Let it be and they're all great copies I do still want upto date monos so I'll get what I can for now. I only have the 2014 white album separately which is great but it just makes me want the 2014 box even more. But there's no way in the world I'll pay what t people are asking now. So this is good for me getting the new mono which is a new mastering, although I can see it now what's going to happen, it's going to be no different from my original 66 mono is it.
P.S. new subscriber here
Thanks Craig and welcome to the channel! The 2014 set is going for crazy money, so I am happy this is a way for you to get the mono Revolver :) It will be a little different than the '66 pressing. Good to have both :)
My 5 CD set came with the book.
I ordered the Super Deluxe CD version; shame on me!
That will be Part 3 - an unboxing of the CD set
Hey man...crazy! 🎃
What album do you think might get remixed in 2023
I was thinking it would be a combo of Please Please Me and With the Beatles to coincide with the 60th anniversary, but I suspect they will keep going backwards to Rubber Soul. Wish I had the inside scoop! :)
Actually the back cover photography was done by Robert Whitaker, not Robert Freeman. Also, the remixed album 24 bit files have been released to high res online shops too....24 bit dowloads should have been included in the box! :)
It's truly worth a $290 CDN price? Just asking for a friend...
Well this is why I keep saying I think it is too expensive. However, it is the only place to get certain mixes. If you put each LP at $50, the EP at $30 and the book at $60, there it is. If it had been pressed at RTI or QRP I would be ok with the price. My records look absolutely perfect, and GZ, the pressing plant, did a surprisingly good job (which in the past they have not done so well). If it wasn’t Revolver, I would have passed. I’m afraid to see what they do next year for Rubber Soul….
I would wait for a sale - especially for Black Friday. I did get a good deal from my local dealer, who always takes care of me.
I am hearing about mid range opinion's about the new stereo mix ,it is gets the weak life less vibe ..There is a Revolver lp out now that says it is a half speed master from the original 4 track tapes for $30 usd ,so I assume it has nothing to do with this from the box set ..That could be the best new one maybe
I have never heard of a half speed master and it can't be from the four track tapes as they would need to be mixed to two track. Can you share a link? (not sure if you can here)
@@spinninground OK this is the 3rd try It is ON Music Direct / Special Edition 180g Vinyl LP Newly Mixed by Giles Martin and Sam Okell, Sourced Directly from the Original Four-Track Master Tapes, and Half-Speed Mastered.
@@VIDSTORAGE That IS the new version I am talking about in my video. It also comes in a single LP version. This is the 2022 remix.
@@spinninground OK now this is another version on Music Direct for the same price/ The Beatles Revolver on 180g LP
Sourced From the Original Master Tapes
Cut at Abbey Road Studios by a First-Rate Team of Producers and Engineers: Stringent Procedures and Safeguards Ensure Optimum Sound
@@VIDSTORAGE There is a single LP version, a picture disc version and a 4 LP version. Same 2022 remix :)
how much did it cost ?
But you didn’t even play it..😆
Oh I did...just not on the first day of receiving it :)
Not Rickenbacher cases but Gibson and epiphone
Actually yes there are Rickenbacker cases there...two of them. One on the top under the Gibson and under the Texan at the bottom. Look again, William :)
The most baffling thing about this box set is why the hell Quest love was asked to write something for it! Useless waste of space..
The same reason they featured Kayne West in "If These Walls Could Sing" documentary. Trying to reach a younger market. I wasn't impressed either.
