My father saw this video being made.
My father arrived in Sydney, Australia from Sri Lanka in January 1982. New to the country and alone, my dad wasted no time and explored Bondi and Bronte, which led him to Mackenzies Point in Marks Park. There, he joined a crowd of observers watching a man playing piano with a film crew a fair distance from him.
He stayed till the end of the filming and watched the performer and camera crew disappear into the evening, leaving my father to just watch the sea by the turret that the performer had been an hour prior.
The beautiful and serene images in this video gives me a clue as to what that day must have looked like through my father's eyes. The dated quality of the video gives me chills as it re-enforces just how long ago my father arrived in the new country as a single young man starting a new life.
My father may not have been in this video, but he was there to see it being made and I feel he is there, in the video. Just not visible.

I am adopted, I traced my biological mother a few years ago, but she passed away in 2013, I did learn through a letter that this song was one she listened to a lot as it was released when I was born and she thought about me, I have blue eyes, this is the first time I've listened to it without crying.. its a beautiful song and it's about all I have of her.. RIP Margaret

It got to 12 should,been 1 or top 5 u hear the same Elton couple of Songs on Radio all the time their playlists are crap.I have his recent platinum 3 CD set they play more 70s,like this his 80s ones rock

I fell in love with a girl dancing to this song in December 1982. She had the most beautiful blue eyes. I left for the military soon after that night but frequently listened to this song to remind me of her. I was fortunate enough to marry her six years later.

This song means so very much to me and I thank Sir Elton John for writing it. My mother loved this song and we viewed it on tv. I was younger then,and I thought the man playing the piano was handsome! 'I was gonna marry him someday!' lol. At any rate,my mother had blue eyes,she passed 4 days after my dad. After losing them, it devasted me. I'm still not right. I hear this song occasionally,and the verse," like a clear blue sky, watching over me," makes me think she's doing just that. I hope so.

Hi Rena. My sincere condolences for your loss; it is hard to imagine your pain. I woke up this morning thinking about my own mother, who has been ill and bedridden for almost 3.5 years now. She has clear blue eyes and this song makes me think of her too. So sad, but helps to wash away some sorrow. We must experience the pain so we can move beyond it with time. Take good care 🥺

This beautiful song is fused in my memory back during the Summer of 1982. It was then that I had met and fallen in love with a blue eyed lady ten years older than me. Our days however were numbered as she died of breast cancer in 1994. Let’s all remember how precious time is and never waste it…

I remember when my mom (who passed away in 2008) used to bring this song with her (when we went to the beach for the summers). She told me that life is a lot like this beautiful song - if you think people don't make life beautiful like they used to anymore, then allow yourself to feel like you can be the first person to create and celebrate it, and people will dance to it. This brings me back to year 2004.
I was in a hospital for quite a while and there was this guy, who was playing piano pretty often in ”activity room”. He loved Elton John’s songs a lot and once he played this to me when I was feeling down because of my weak condition. Everytime I hear this, I smile a bit. Even after 15 years.
Song is so sad and full of longing but real genuine love. It’s one of my all time favorites

Meu Deus do céu, como o ser humano em sã consciência consegue gostar de Funk, forro , sertanejo Universidade etc, depois de ouvir essa maravilhosa relíquia de Elton John? Que voz, que melodia e que arranjo senhores, simplesmente sensacional! Não tem como ouvir esses lixos sonoros da atualidade (90% deles ) depois de ouvir as maravilhosas musicas da década de 70,80 e 90.
É VERDADE , infelizmente as musicas brasileiras deixam a desejar, o Funk Matou as musicas brasileiras, as musicas de antigamente eram melhores que essas musicas de hoje em dia, algumas musicas brasileiras de antigamente são boas de se ouvir, uma delas é DESEJOS E DELÍRIOS do Fábio Junior.

I have blue eyes and growing up I believed he wrote this just for me. Now that I'm 54 I still feel that way. One underrated, never played but most loved songs.
My great grandkids have beautiful blue eyes and I would love to be able to sing it to them, but alas the low notes are too low for this old voice.

I wish I was a rich man in the 70's and 80's only to be able to attend Elton John's concerts when he was at his peak and also buy each of his records as they came out. Unfortunately, I am not rich and I was born in 86 in a mediocre country called Brazil.
This is my favorite Elton song. The played instruments just melt into the singing. A dreamy perfect mix. It reminds me of easier days when we all didn't have to live in fear of being ourselves.

Before I'd heard this, I overheard a chap telling his pal (in The Trip To Jerusalem, Nottingham) that "Blue Eyes" was the best song Elton ever did. He went to explain the unusual chords and harmony meant it was one that may not appeal too widely. I went home, listened, and immediately put it at the top of my Fav Elton Songs list. Utterly brilliant. And it still is (With Sorry Seems to Be... just behind).

I lost mom back in 2015, we didn't have the best of relationships, but she gave me great taste in music. Everytime I hear this song and a few others I feel mom near me again.
Excellent in all aspects, no doubt he is one of the most important pop singers of all time. His singing is perfect and full of emotion, flawless and easy.

Such a simple song with simple lyrics but only Elton can sing it like no other. Talented man. Great musician.
I could have died on New Years Eve when a mountain walk with my family became a dangerous experience. We were somehow in a hurry, we wanted to reach the top in time to watch the firecrackers midnight. We lost each other, and I realised that it was far more difficult and steep than expected. A younger couple appeared as I was there alone in the darkness and they chaperoned me all the way down. They saved my life.
As I was doing the dishes the following evening, I heard this song play in my head. Many years since I last heard it, so I googled the words I heard "Babys got blue eyes watching over me". I learned it was Elton John.
I felt the song was a message from the other side, from God. A message that I am being watched over. I really was in danger on that mountain walk, but I was saved. "And I am home - I am home again".

Your experience sounds like one I had. When I was seven years old my parents, sisters, grandma, and a couple of other family members all went on vacation. We decided to sleep over at the Holiday Inn. We'll, my older sister and I were dangling our feet over the 9' deep end of the pool. I saw a guy jump in head 1st arms out just the greatest dive I've ever seen! So I decided to jump in too. I just jumped right in and I couldn't see a thing and I couldn't swim! I could see people looking over the edge of the pool through the haze of the water at me. Finally, which seemed like hours, a young man jumped in and saved my life! I often wonder if God had sent an angel that day to protect me, to watch over me, and to save my life. I'm thankful and blessed because I've had a good life. I've got 3 great kiddos, all adults now, and 4 pretty granddaughters.

The exact location is at the most easterly point of Marks Park, Tamarama, where a low, sandstone turret rests on the top of the cliffs and overlooks the Tasman Sea. The white Grand Piano was positioned right in the middle of the turret.:) Love this song!

And 94/95 i think he was even more refined, just a bit diff in style than normal, i loved it too ...Elton is the true king in my books
IMO, Elton's biggest decade as far as popularity and hit songs was the 70's without a doubt, but this song is as good to me as 95% of anything he did in his entire career. This tune never gets old to me! Timeless.
