"Gilbert is gonna fall first?"
Oh dear 😂 The entire show be like:
Anne: exist
Gilbert: I will marry this girl
😂😂😂😂😂
I will always love Matthew Cuthbert with my entire heart. That man is so sweet and soft and caring... He kind of reminds me of my own father. And Marilla is more similar to my mother except without the soft inside that Marilla has...lmao but yeah, I absolutely ADORE Matthew. And I've not seen a reacter that doesn't also adore him...hes just amazing. And very clearly loves Anne SO MUCH.
Same
Did you read the book (s)
@@matejburic1388 No. But I guess I'll clarify I love Show!Matthew. If that makes you feel better. 🤷♀️ I'm never going to read the books so I don't really give a fuck what the characterizations of the characters are in the books tbh.
@@AnxietyRat so agressive for no reason lol, work on it pls. Book matthew is even sweeter than show matthew i just wanted to point that out lol also pls dont read them if you wanna avoid the heartbreak, he dies in a book 😭
Honestly, even with only 3 episodes so far, I think you're my favorite reactor to this show, so I'm definitely in it for the long haul, and hopefully you end up doing the whole show.
i’m so excited that you’re already up into s3 bc u will get to see how gilbert blythe TRULY set the standard for my 6 year old brain when i first read the book series
Lol your cringing for Anne when she was walking to school with those flowers in her hair was so relatable lol
you're so right about Matthew, always always makes me misty eyed.
Ladies and gentlemen, the man (boy), the myth, the legend, Gilbert Blythe
Matthew Cuthbert is so amazing. So kind and gentle and considerate. A beautiful soul. I believe that if humanity had only a little bit more of his goodness, the world could be a great place
Yeah Matthew Cuthbert is one of the probably sweetest people in the show he's just so awesome besides and he is one of my favorite characters. Also loves this reaction it was really fun
i really liked your perspective of the events in this episode! and it's interesting because you took something one of the progressive mothers said ("especially if they're unlikely to marry") as a dig on marilla, when i had only ever thought of it as a dig on anne. i think she did nean anne when she said it, but you're so right that it was also a dig on marilla 😭 I had never thought of it that way before. i can already tell I'm going to be noticing new things about this show while watching along with you, which is such a treat since i've seen this show so many times now i wouldn't have expected to learn anything new. i really appreciate that you're going to continue with the series for now, since i think you add a valuable perspective in your commentary due to your life experiences.
one thing i love about awae is its nuanced treatment of so many different subjects. it doesn't 100% vilify or glorify anything. it shines a balanced light on topics showing the positives and the negatives. like the progressive mothers (aka feminists/suffragettes of their time). they had very good views and opinions, like that women should have an equal right to education as men, and were not initially prejudiced toward anne for being an orphan and commended marilla for adopting her. but as we saw throughout the episode they also were quick to judge without understanding anne's situation--freezing out both her and marilla--lacking compassion for them in that situation. i love the way this show deals with sensitive topics, and while that isn't the primary focus of the show as a whole, there will certainly be plenty more to come.
and goodness, i don't think i've ever met/watched anyone who saw this show who didn't absolutely adore matthew cuthbert. it's sacrilege not to love him atp 😊
looking forward to the next episode!
Yeah, a lot of reacters do miss that those women were taking a dig at marilla... Maybe because it's only been mentioned a couple of times that Marilla and Matthew both have never married. Details thats easy to miss, I guess. So a lot of people miss that they intentionally took a dig at her... Or potentially it was unintentionally taking a dig at her ALL of those women are probably married ...and so maybe they forgot that Marilla never was married... It's quite obvious how the conversation made her feel when you watch Marillas body language but yeah a lot of people missed it so don't feel bad about missing it cuz a lot of people have... I really only seen like a handful of people catch it.
I agree the way that this show deals with conflict and shows people having a lot of shades of grey... Like of the progressive the mother people then trying to enact social change but also being EXTREMELY judgemental about certain things. There's SO many instances on the show where things are in shades of grey. But I absolutely love the writing. It kind of breathes life into the world because that's how people in real life ARE. Nobody is 100% evil or 100% good, right?... Everyone is different shades of grey. And the writing on the show reflects that.... I could sing praises about the writing of the show all day. It's just great. Relatively unique. I've not found a show that's like this show since it was cancelled. The writers really were a part of something very special.
“For like, their age!” 😂 I LOST IT. Hahahaha loving these reactions!

I found your channel through your Polin videos. It doesn’t surprise me at all that, like me, you also like Gilbert Blythe. He's similar in personality to Colin Bridgerton in being a sensitive, romantic traveler.
Love this ❤

anne says the most out of pocket stuff lol
Yes. It's not like today's day in age, but think of it this way? Girls were married off at 16 back then, you were allowed to get married to an older man who's way older than you. But that's only because younger women healthier children or so they believed back then. Yes, today's day that would be a child predator but not back then. The world did not think like that. They raised children up on true life skills not what we have today. But like it or not this was just the way it was back in those times.
This was the episode that made me subscribe. I really enjoy your personality (probably because it reminds me of mine) but the thoroughness of you explaining exactly what you like and the ability to decipher the show properly and put it into words is something that I haven’t seen from many reactors 🥹
