What a rich study today. I feel like I could read this one and listen to TLC’s recap 100 times and still find new breaths of fresh air.
I’ve always resonated so much with Paul in these passages as he wrestles with dying to his old self and wanting SO much to live in the spirit while having the reality of the flesh.
I love the reminder of Abraham’s faith and how he didn’t waver at the thought that God had promised him, and that his faith in God was his redeeming act. Jesus hadn’t even been born for Abraham to know anything of the faith of Jesus, but God, being one with Jesus and the spirit, already had that plan in place.
While we were still sinners, and while we still act in sin, God knows and His grace is sufficient for all that we do. Our hearts are inclined to do what He desires, but our flesh is weak.
After round 2 and 342 days into this year’s reading plan, I continue to be awestruck and amazed by all He has and continues to do for us. My heart’s plea is that Christ be magnified in me.

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬
This is my God shot for today as it was also YouVersion’s (The Bible app) verse of the day, to me this is perhaps intentional from God so that way we can be reminded of Christ’s sacrifice; our God was so loving so kind and so generous that he sent his only son here to die for our sins. Our God is so good and I pray that we as followers can continue to show gratitude and remember Christ’s sacrifice and God and Jesus‘s love for all of us. God bless all of you today.✝️💪

Paul said it all we don't want to sin Jesus love, grace, and mercy and dying on the cross paid it all. But sin is always trying to do things to make us sin, when this happens to me I call on Jesus "Help me Jesus" and Jesus is always there!!!

I love the analogy of God being the filmmaker or director who is overseeing the entire film. That helps me to understand it. ❤

All of Roman's 7 summer up my daily struggles. I start the day with the bible and feel overwhelming joy and desire to do good, and as the day goes on I am overcome with stress and selfish feelings and judgment. I want so badly to do good and be the light of Jesus within me, yet I succumb to the evil feelings that well up within me. Evil is right there with me and I struggle. Lord I struggle! Lord, be with me and help me remember you, love, joy and gratitude all throughout the day, every day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me."
    Romans 7:21-23 NIV

Aloha, praise the Lord and good morning BR family. Peace with God. 5:1, "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ". 5:8, was my God shot. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us". Thank you, Lord, for your ultimate sacrifices. You are where the JOY is!!!

When we pray “The Bible Kneecap” each day, we ask, “Have mercy on me, a sinner.” Why is that necessary? Paul says at Rom 6:11 to “consider yourselves dead to sin but alive in Christ.” But then in the next verse he says, “Do let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.” So if I consider myself dead to sin, why do I still have sinful desires? Rom 7:17 says, “I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.” That’s why “I do what I don’t want to do” (Rom 7:18-19)-and what I want to do, I don’t do it! Well for Pete’s sake, look at where we live and what comes at us everyday. I open up UA-cam to Recap with TLC and my TBR friends, and up pops some sinful ad trying to drag my instincts away from hearing God’s word. Paul (and the Lord) get it: “There is another power within me that is at war with my mind” (Rom 7:23). So what then: am I stuck in this continual battle where I “just say no”? That is the whole point Paul is making, that the Law by itself (i.e.: “Don’t look at that bad UA-cam ad!”) never works because I have a sin nature in my flesh, my body. But here’s the point: God sees me and has now made me new. What is this “me”? It’s my mind (Rom 7:25), my heart-because He has made me a new creation (2 Cor 5:17). Without Christ, my mind and spirit are OK with sin, but the new me must “consider myself dead to it.” How do I “consider sin dead”? By being set free through the power of Jesus Christ our Lord (Rom 7:25). When I pray, “Have mercy on me, a sinner,” and when temptation comes and I choose to pray, “Holy Spirit, I can’t fight this, so please take away this desire and win the battle right now” He is faithful-faithful and forgiving and merciful and victorious.

We must die to self to follow and completely follow God. We have to suffer because God can be trusted with this he is building us up we have to trust him. Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins and because of that we have grace. I want the fruit of righteousness. Everyday want the follow God more by dying to self. He is definitely where the joy is.

Something I heard from a pastor one time was that he said that in the Bible it has variations of the phrase “do not fear” 365 times! He his means that there is not a single day of the year that god wants you to be anxious!

God "gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were" (Romans 4:17). We can be fully persuaded that God has the power to do what He has promised (Romans 4:22).

    To the "church" in Rome?!!!!!
No, Shaul is writing to the (Greek) Ecclesia.
We now know by the past few years of discovery, the NT was written in Hebrew. Not originally in Greek and Paul is writing to the Qahal. The tribes having scattered to Rome for hundreds of years after leaving Assyria and beginning their prophesied scattering to the ends of the earth.
Did you miss all of this in reading through the Bible/OT?
There were 10 tribes who scattered after their 40 year exile in Assyria.
They are called Israel or the house of Israel of Israel. Jesus called them "the lost sheep of the house of Israel". Matthew 10: 5&6, Matthew 15:24, Acts 2:36-39...
Were you not paying attention when you read about them in the OT?
What were you thinking about when you read where Judah was escorting King David back to Jerusalem and Israel came up to help with the escorting and Judah rejected the men of Judah because they were next of kin/same tribe as David. Israel told Judah they had 10 parts in the King but Judah still rejected them. Israel returned back to the land they had in the north and chose their own king dividing the tribes into two kingdoms/two houses.
I hope you will go back and study more deeply the OT.
