- Well I decided the first attempt was way too easy so I am back with this.
No starting resources
No Regional Wealth
No free weapons and armor
Can we make it?

Wood needed m'lord. More wood is needed. not enough wood my lord.
PITCH needed
An excellent Stronghold reference! I have high hopes for Manor Lords to bring a similar kind of gameplay into modernity.
Eisenhagen (-hagen being a common medieval town suffix for "area that has fences (not castle walls) around it" and Eisen being iron - so it's a town specialized in iron export)
Iron within. Iron without.
I really like this one!
@@NickLupercus :)
haha! my eternal gratitude for immortalizing me as a peasant! I look forward to being eviscerated by a pike, dying in a mining accident, dying of exposure or falling in the tannery vat.
I've been avoiding all other content for this game as I want to experience it first hand fresh, but I can't help but watch your content. Good stuff, look forward to more.
I'm sure you will be facing off against bandits with nothing but a pitchfork before you know it! Good luck!
I was concerned when I saw the new restart, but I’m glad it’s working out again.
Yeah sorry about the restart but I think we all agree this is way more interesting.
What I love about this game is that even those optimized builds can look nice.
Is it optimized or is it panicked? :p One thing I am striving not to do is build a grid. I love European style towns and villages that follow the shape of the land and desire paths and I really want to try and emulate that.
The villagers are very grumpy for people who live in such flammable houses.
Hmm, you make a very astute observation...
@50:06 You don't need to pay to establish a trade route for the iron slabs, but you have to build the bloomery to turn the iron ore into iron slabs first. All you need to do to trade is to go to the left had side where it says "No trade" and change that to export from the drop down window. It will say "trade route required" instead of "no trade" if you have to pay for the trade route first. You could trade planks right away since you would need to first mine the iron ore, then turn it into iron slabs at the bloomer which takes extra families. planks sell for 2 silver a piece, but you make them in batches of 5. [edit] Yay! you found it! Ah double good, you also found the iron ore!
Hmmm, the Name of the starter town is "Waldbrand" which means "Forest fire" in German.... lets hope if that's not an omen
I really like this series, it has that nice theme of everything having the appearance of being ok but in actuality doom is lurking right around the corner. As for the name of the town I think something Gaelic would work. My reasoning for that is that because the game doesn't have the king function in it yet, then you're technically an independent noble, so if you do a gaelic name you can call yourself a petty king instead of a lowly baron.
Feels like watching a very advanced boardgame with meeples from the community 😂 Look forward to next one! I prob won’t get to this myself so thank you for sharing your playthrus 🙏🏾 Town name: Bob’s Burgage
Bob's Burgage is amazing, damn what a name!
Your puppy snoring in the background 🤩
She has featured in many a video, people tend to get very confused.
Don’t worry about building a stone mine near stone, it’s easier to build it in the town and workers will just walk over to where the stone is.
Iron mines produce iron ore, not slabs.
Good points, I treated it like a mining pit. I got the slabs/iron thing worked out at the end as well, just in a panic over not being able to make that Regional wealth!
You should name the town Bog End, a nice play on the charming, significantly sunnier home of Bilbo.
With all the rain and the mud it is a pretty good descriptor too!
Congrats to a challenging start well met, lord phros! Enjoying your playtrough immensely
Here is hoping we can make it through the first bandit raid...
Nice. Was on the edge of my seat when it looked like you couldn't sell iron. Cool start.
You and me both!
This was impressively hectic, hats off to you! Just a request, would you mind switching the name of the citizen named after me to JackBeNimble? I hadn't realised there would be commenter naming, so muggins here didn't check which account she was commenting with 😅
Having only watched your first video on Manor Lords, I was not prepared for how stressful this video was.
Also, I submit Phroshope for the place name.
Phros (you)
Hope (Old English for enclosed area, as hear you plan to build a big wall)
I felt the first attempt really wasn't enough of a challenge, I like my games stressful it seems. Makes winning much more of a reward.
@@Phrosphor Considering how your Highfleet series have progressed, I'm not surprised.
Hey, since no one else has mentioned this in regards to prepping for the raiders: Focus on warbows! They are MUCH easier to build than the other weapons, and 20 or so archers to support the 5 retainers you get from the manor is all you will need to fight off the bandits!
Good point with the warbows! They make for a really nice force multiplier. Unfortunately, with the way the desire demands are working in this playthrough I need an alternate plan to get defenses in place. Upgrading to t2 causes a depression spiral in the town because they instantly demand t2 amenities.
War bows don't do any damage until the patch. easy to make, but can't defend against the bandits. a unit of spearmen and a descent sized retinue (but that will take a lot of Treasury) or 2 full units of spearmen are required to take on 4 bandits units.
Can't wait to see more of this. Looking forward to becoming a peasant and defending the town m'Lord o7.
At this point you will be charging the enemy with a rolling pin because it is looking very unlikely I will have weapons in time for the first attack...
@@Phrosphor No worries m’Lord. I will make do and take at least 2 with me. o7
Best video about this game I've seen so far :) good to see you going in with a plan and up for a challenge!
Man, this game looks fun. Might pick it up.
Also, fingers crossed I get a chance to become a peasant in the village!
It's been a great sit and have a coffee game up until I have started this anxiety ridden playthrough!
This is obviously Eisenhundbourgh: Iron pupper town
This reminds me of lords of the realm mixed with city skylines, mixed with stronghold. Great gameplay
Excellent video. Thanks 😊
Very cool
Good luck building your manor!
I’ll be very interested to see your plan progress hopefully to fruition!
I hope so too! The next video is going to be right on the wire
YES! I'm here for this
*Ive always wanted to be a Medieval Villager. I cant wait until I get killed by a raider or die of Measles, mumps, or Rubella.
Or all of the above lol
I like the cut of your jib. We need gusto and drama. This will be an exciting series, although maybe short.
I find your lack of faith concerning!
It's a very good thing you don't need individual tools for all these buildings because it would have been game over from the start otherwise :)
Idea for the village name: ROAD TO RICHES
ROAD TO FAMINE is more likely! Yeah there are tools in the game but they don't seem to be needed for building thank goodness. Shame the Fighting Cocks aren't a merc company I can hire.
@@Phrosphor you have to get families to join your settlement, misleading them is one way.
dont die soon, i want to see a long series
I will do my best!
Ah nice! I was a bit worried after the first video it would get a bit boring as you really had everything under control. What does Phros do? Crank the difficulty up to the max where he had me worrying whether this would become another Highfleet run that was doomed to fail :D
So now I'm looking forward to see how mean this game can actually get and whether it will be possible to come back from a desperate situation should one arise (which the difficulty settings kind of indicate) ....
All I will say is if you thought this video was tense, wait until the timer on the incoming bandits gets really really small.
Him being so on top of everything the whole episode, realising he forgot to build a well, then only to forget to build a well anyway is honestly so relatable.
Peasants don't need to drink do they?
@@Phrosphor they wont waste time drinking and they wont waste time pissing. Now thats what i call lean management.
They got puddles.
I cant wait to get my hands on this game, it looks so good. Cant wait to see if you can win this run.
The next video is going to be... tense. It hits EA on the 26th if you are desperate but always be wary with EA games.
Very good, I loved it.
Ooh, very good. The trading system is a little obtuse, glad it worked out in the end with the iron ore!
the ui struck me as as straight-forward as possible ^^ and worked immediately (once the slab/ore hiccup was evened out)
can't wait to see the town grow ^w^
Glad you dwcide to restart the series. Next plzzzz ;)
Coming soon!
loving it
Place your well sire. :)
I promise I will remember this...
u should call the town Phrosborough
I like it!
You inadvertently deleted the road between the Burgages and the Market. Had me biting my nails all episode 😅
I shall fix this urgently in the next one (this might explain why the market has stopped working)
How about Village of the Mischievous Pupper?
And when you get to a city you can rename it to being the City of the Mischievous Pupper
Very cute names!
Ready to serve m'lord 😁
Work work
Having us as his peasants is amazing 😂
Just wait till you find yourself facing off against knights with a spear and nothing else!
Iron slabs you get from the bloomery. The iron pit gives you iron ore. But since you got a rich deposit of iron, trading iron is viable and a fantastic source of early wealth. since you can sell them without buying a trade route! If it's not to late, and you will still name people in your town after posters, could you name a future blacksmith/armorer or brewer after me?
🍔 you're welcome
Burgerage. For some reason I know call them Burbages now, I think it is out of fear of the Burgerage.
Manor Lords? More like Manor Snores. Big sleepy puppy energy is a very calming influence versus the very hard scenario you created for yourself!!
So far so good but how long can you keep this up?
Good question! The next section of gameplay is going to be very difficult.
What do you always play hardest mode no hate tho love seeing you suffering😂
I guess I like a challenge, and I get bored of a game quickly if I find it too easy!
12:21 Meh. Grid cities are uglier IMO. I much prefer the messy organic look of a city that has had stuff tacked on ad-hoc for a few hundred years. Maximize the fire hazard!
...and we're doing the Xenonauts things I guess, below is edits and spoilers
On the subject of medieval tanning, I would like to reiterate that leather armor isn't real. Nobody wanted to do all that work, all that horrible, "odoriferous" work to the extent needed to coat some fool in armor that wasn't better than a poofy coat
I'm going to second a Psyantologist's suggestion of Eisenhagen for the town name, given you don't have walls, intend to sell iron, and are in a Germanic region. Though apparently, per another comment, the default name translates to "forest fire" and I do sort of love that auspicious omen
Poor Neurosturgeon, hauling blocks of stone several miles through the pouring rain and muddy roads with but a handcart
It looks like the Tier 2 burgage upgrades often convert the family that lives there into artisans, who don't work other jobs - having a cabbage patch doesn't stop you from carrying stone around, but being the blacksmith does
Gimme next vid asap! 😅
Lemme cook! :p
🍽
Zheleznograd for name?
What does that translate to?
