This unit is rated for 2x 50 W / 4 ohm and 2x 33 W / 8 ohm, DIN 45500. The filter caps in Grundig gear tended to be a bit on the big side capacitance wise since the supply rails weren't too high (+/-28 V here). The V 7200 was around in '84/'85 and cost about 500 DM (250€). Power amp circuitry is similar to the old V 2000 (Douglas Self would certainly note bad differential amp balance). With all the gain being after the volume pot, I would expect noise levels to be only average.

I like the look of amplifiers from the 60's to early 80's, this one looks like it's from the early 80's and seems like a pretty good one. A big transformer in something of that size is allways a good thing. Later on in a few days I'm going to start work on a new amplifier build, all transistors, no ic's, with a 70's look to it. I'm just waiting for the parts to arrive then I can get started. I can't wait.

Nice video J! It's always cool to have a pleasant surprise when you open up old gear. That one looks pretty solid!

It seems like all the manufacturers switched from knobs to sliders in the mid-'80s. That alone isn't necessarily a bad thing, but not all companies maintained their quality. Many switched from metal to plastic faceplates, started using cheaper components, and moved their production from Japan or Europe to Hong Kong or Taiwan. Plus some famous brands like Marantz and Fisher got bought out and really lowered their quality, so you could no longer trust a well-known brand to make good equipment.

It switches to the tape input to monitor the signal the cassette deck puts out.

Only thing I know about this song is that it's called "weekend".

Today I tried to take away an HP printer and an old WD caviar hard drive from my dump and that stupid employee said that is's forbidden -.-" You're lucky since you can take away everything you want from the dump :)

Ползунки начали применять в эквалайзерах, а затем это стало модным везде. Это пример победы маркетинга над здравым смыслом.

I hate sliding controls, especially for the volume.
