Can't wait to put my Lake District video together. I can promise it'll be the best video on my channel with some of my best photography ever! Such incredible and varying conditions we had those four days :D

Thanks again Nigel. I'm new to your Channel and I'm really enjoying it. Very inspirational. I live on the west coast of Vancouver Island and this time of year it is very rainy, stormy etc. In fact we just lost power for over 24 hours because the storm knocked it out. I don't have a fantasy camera I have a Panasonic bridge camera and I've come to realize that it is excellent for landscape travel etc. Around here there is so much wildlife that I keep thinking that's what I should be taking pictures of but I'm always failing. Best to go back out into landscape. Is different here on the West coast though because we have so many trees. Dense trees not deciduous ones like you do but the light still comes through. Very dark especially this time of year. Look forward to the next one!

    12:00 oh no
My profile pic for many years was me on a cliff in the twilight with some mist in the valley before the background mountains all framed by a big old gnarly tree looping up and over the scene. I climbed the hill after the bushfires a couple of years back hoping for the best and found nothing left but a charred stump laying across the rocks. It's strange how some things can affect you.

I love your videos and I like this concept of what can you do when it's the middle of the day but I really like to hear your thoughts of days that are cloudless and bright. When I go on vacation I get one day at a place and I'm there taking photos regardless of what the weather is (unfortunately I tend to be unlucky and its cloudless and bright). I'm still learning and still working on compositions but I feel like all I hear is, just don't take photos during those times and that doesn't seem like the answer.

Sorry for your lens :/ by the way this made me think about one issue I'm experiencing recently.
These last years I've been starting to walk around with some moderately expensice gear. It's not even that expensive compared to what's on the market but I realized going around with a couple thousand euros of equipment is making me somewhat anxious in many circumstances and especially traveling abroad outside europe.
It might be intresting to know how you assure your equipment in case of accidental damage and tefth and what you would suggest on this matter. It's not a very discussed theme in the photographers community.
Sorry if I made some spelling mistakes. My english is far from perfect.
Keep up with the good work :3

I love the way the rain added drama and light separation to the amazing scenery. Great images as always.
So sorry to hear that the strong windy conditions damaged your lens, though. I can empathise, after going for a costly bike ride on our local rough trail, when a padded top box didn’t protect my expensive 300mm zoom lens. It took almost 10 months during 2020/21 to get it back after and £1800 repair, being passed through several parts of the world! Ouch!

Love that right when you're talking about having the subject (yourself) and the grasses in the front in full sun with the background in shade......you somehow managed to instantly get the sun to cooperate and demonstrate the effect. Now that's a pro? Around the 8:00 mark.

One of the (many) things I like about your videos is that you show a lot of photos that did NOT work and explain why...very instructive. Just bought your new woodlands ebook. Glad I did. Went out in the rain today and got some shots I'm very happy with.

Actually not really. Because the sunlight is only for that moment, on that day, at that time. You could come to the same spot at exactly the same time each year and the lighting could be different, so it has little relevanency in that regard. However, I do know what you're getting at, but looking at the lighting patterns I believe you can sort of figure where the light might be based on the angle of the shadows (if there are any).

There were a few moments, Nigel, where your content suggested a music choice "Here comes the rain again" you said literally (Eurythmics had a song called that).
Another moment you talked about being in rim light (Eryka Badu "Rimshot" - that may be beyond appropriateness with all its funkin' jazz - but then it may be totally harmless, I'm not a native speaker of her English).
In terms of royalties or legal court cases they're no doubt in the "keep on dreaming" class.

Wonderful as usual Nigel. I can't wait for the print pack and i hope it's something i can justifying afford haha. I did want to mention one thing, the part around the 5:00 mark where you had the two images that you said had interesting light but you didn't think they really work because you don't know exactly where your eyes should go, i think that's okay sometimes, take a photo that has you explore the entire frame and appreciate the vastness and beauty of the whole image, especially the one on the right with the contrasty light, i thought it was a beautiful exploratory image. Also the image where you highlighted mads with the contrasty background, just great. Keep it up my dude 🤘
