      @쿠로미-p3m 4 роки тому

      Why is 6 minor?

    • @Jekkin
      @Jekkin 4 роки тому +34

      @@쿠로미-p3m In a major key, the vi chord is always minor, because the chord has to follow the key signature of the tonic. In C major, for example, there are no sharps or flats. If you wanted to make a triad starting on the sixth scale degree, A, you would stack diatonic thirds. This makes a triad consisting of A, C, and E, also known as A minor. The A Major triad consists of A, C#, and E.
      That being said, the labels in this video corresponding to the II and the III chord aren't entirely accurate for a major key. III exists in minor, but the chord based on the third scale degree in major should always be minor. If you wanted to make these chords major, the label would be V/V and VI/V for II and III respectively.

      Isa Lorelai it’s a neurological phenomenon where the senses are connected in a way that when you experience one stimuli (such as a smell or a chord perhaps) another sense is envoked aswell (like a color or a feeling) another part of it is that one with synesthesia personifies numbers and letters naturally. It’s a thing that our brains did as children to help us understand the world (very young) that most people grow out of, but people with synesthesia don’t! There’s a lot of articles about it on the internet and knowing you have it is helpful tbh because I kept saying that stuff smells like a color and didn’t realize I sounded crazy

      You can do a ii-V-I with it tho
      Bm7(b5) - E7 - Am
      And then from the Am you can keep going

    It’s funny because when I first saw this four months ago I was like “wow this is so cool I wish I understood chords like this” and now a month into my AP Music Theory class I’m coming back to this realizing I gave the chords their own personalities as well
    Please make more of these Louie💕it make Music Theory so much more fun

    It seems like you might have Ordinal-linguistic personification (OLP, or personification for short) where you give things like letters, numbers, chords personalitys, or genders (Etc. )! That's so cool!

    0:38 0:42 I would say those chords are V/vi and V/V instead of III and II, but that's ok 🍞

    • @psyarts8687
      @psyarts8687 5 років тому +4

      Technically yes, but in jazz it’s much easier to just say III and II. Plus you it doesn’t make much sense to say V/V if it leads to the iv not the V.

    You're gonna upset a lot of jazz theory buffs by saying III and II instead of V/vi and V/V (psst, just between you and me, I think it's fine, but don't let them know I said that)
