- Welcome to the first trail of my Dad's memorial run series. He was a great man who taught me a lot and this trail was one that took him many years to complete due to mechanical and weather conditions of Pearl Pass near Aspen and Crested Butte Colorado. This was our first time up the pass and we were lucky enough to catch it at the right time of year. I really hope you enjoy this history trail series.

Excellent video honoring your dad and making memories with your wife. Family is what it's all about and I'm very glad you have ventured out on your own so we can see what you're really about. Not only do you enjoy building / repairing stuff economically, you enjoy teaching others to do it all the while including your family in the process. Well done sir!
That’s his sister
That's his wife, Shanna😊@@brookecarter2125
Your father was a true pioneer of the 4x4 off road community. Thank you for sharing a glimpse into your family.
Colt my wife passed away 3 years ago. On the first year anniversary of her passing, my daughter and I went for a ride. I took her to key places like our first date, places we lived and visited together. I got to share memories with my daughter she didn’t know about. I also poured out a little bit of her ashes at each place. It meant so much to me. I’m glad you did this and gave us the honor of sharing it. Be blessed sir!
This is hard to watch without crying to be completely honest…
I’m sorry for your loss man.
I’m 38 and my dad is 71. I’m thankful to still have him, and with each passing year, I’m more thankful.
Mom passed this year, we spent alot of time talking & watching westerns... knowing the different actors more indepth gave things a whole new meaning, alot of tough people have come before me! Mom was born in a tent up in McCall Idaho, her parents we're fighting fires, grampa had a crew of 26, Grandma cooked & fed everyone with my uncle under her feet & Mom on the way. People definitely worked hard back then, can't imagine crossing this pass with wagons! Horses yes but a long hard trip even with trails. Thank You both!
As difficult as this is to watch, I can't even begin to tell you how much I appreciate the authenticity of your video tribute thus far.
America and I are so damn SICK of the fake, deceptive and manipulative crap we see at every turn now.
After losing my dad, uncle and older brother in the last 3 years, this is EXACTLY what I want to watch. I know I am not alone, and getting a few buckets of snot and tears out is actually doing my heart some good.
God bless you and your family, and THANK YOU for being so real with us.
WELL SAID, You are NOT Alone !!!!!
For sure. Turn on regular tv and internet it’s all divisive.
This is positive. A great tribute to the love of a father. Colt knew his dad and learned so much. Seems to be a good dad himself, too.
It’s beautiful to get a break from drones and politics.
Love it colt
Took a client up there 2 summers ago to honor her father, who had recently passed. He took her up there as a kid in his CJ, and she wanted to drive it herself in her mostly stock 4Runner...definitely pushed the thing to its limits, but we made it! ❤️ It's a special place for sure! With some fascinating history as well!
Great video and an awesome way to honor your dad. Shana crying got me welled up. I recently lost my mother in law and man is it hard to deal with some days. I just think about all the times we spent together as a family and cherish those memories. I am loving this series.
Absolutely LOVE this tribute to your dad. Your lucky to have a dad like that.
Yours good man colt for honoring your dad this way.
Shana telling about the same stories over and over reminds me of my Dad and Uncle retelling stories of their youth during the 20s and 30s. So now it's up to us to retell those old stories as often as need be as some things do bear repeating.
What a great way to not only remember but pay tribute to your Dad. This is going to be a great series. Thanks for taking us along with you guy's. Your Dad is smiling down on you. 😢
I lost my dad two days ago. This video really hit home
Those memories are worth their weight in gold, your lovely wife had me tearing up. There's a lot of love for your dad in the way she told the story. May he rest in peace. 🙏
You struck gold colt…. Your wife is an angel
I love the scenes where your dad is narrating his experiences and the old video. Thanks for sharing Colt.
I haven't finished watching the video yet . But I had to stop just to say thank you Colt and wife for sharing this with me ! I've been to Colorado many times when I was young with my dad ! Colt , you your wife has shown me many places ! That I wouldn't go because of a few experiences in my youth such as almost going over the edge one old one lane road in the middle of nowhere !
Can't tell you how much I enjoy your dad's stories men like him should make us all strive to be better.
God bless y’all brother and as always, thanks for the scripture and I’m enjoying to get to me a little bit of your dad!!!
What a beautiful trail that honors your father.
Thank you Colt, my Dad started me in my off-roading in California and we did camping in his 1978 250 ford Ranger. and he has past too, but still go out camping with the family.
Love the video
Great tribute to your dad ❤️
Love the old videos
With the ease of watching videos these days the old videos remind you that wheeling isn’t a new thing
Thanks
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure...
Hey Colt, sorry about the loss of your dad. I too lost my dad in 2021 and it’s tough. Keeping you and Shana in our prayers. 😢🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
R.I.P Colt's dad..... You got an awesome son and Colt, your dad would be PROUD!!
I know this is tough but we are praying for you and your family and God Bless Colt n Shanon your dad is so proud of you both!!✌️🇺🇲
I can see why he liked this trail, tough to drive, absolutely beautiful. What a great way to remember your dad.
While this might seem trivial - Your memorial run series is a wake up call. Life is short, cherish loved ones and spend time. Your videos remind us of those who passed and the profound and positive impact they had on our life. Your positive take reminds us that grief transforms into happiness for the well served. Thanks
Your dad had the best taste in trails! I see the apple did not fall far from the tree Colt!
Love the old footage and the ties to your old man.
RIP to your Pops.
Thank you Paul and wife for sharing this adventure with me ! I'm sorry that I cannot remember your wife's name ! In my 69 years I've been able to drive through all except 4 states west of the Mississippi River ! I still have Minnesota , Louisiana , Montana and Nevada left . I've drove through Wisconsin , Illinois , Indiana , Kentucky , Ohio , West Virginia and Pennsylvania East of the Mississippi River . I driven in Mexico and Canada also . I got see many places in Kansas , Oklahoma and Texas that a many people don't get to see while high railing working for Santa Fe Railroad . Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family !
Your dad sounds like one cool dude. My condolences to your loss. May your memories of him continue to bring you and your family awesome memories. In the last year or two I myself lost both of my grandma’s and reminiscing on all the times we shared are wonderful moments. Thanks for sharing one of yours with us your viewers.
That was pure Awesome. Thanks for sharing and God Bless. ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing this great trail and story w/ us,
Your dad raised a great man👍🙂
Sorry to here about your dad. I lost mine a few years back. I grew up on the front range around Longmont and Boulder. Been in a jeep as a new born rolling around in the back. My parents belonged to the mile high jeep club in the 60's and 70's. We would go on jeep trips most weekends, and camping when we could. I miss my dad too.
What a great tribute to your dad… beautiful area
Thank you for sharing your stories with your dad.
In 2021 I lost my Grandpa. Between him and my dad they taught me how to 4wheel. One of my grandpa's last wishes were to have his ashes spread all over the Colorado mountains. So that is what my dad and I have been doing. In my grandpas old 74 bronco I own. My mom made a memory bear with my grandpas clothes and he rides in the bronco on every trip. It has been great memories running a lot of the old trails with my dad. Many of which we havent done in 30 years. Cherish all the memories.
So sorry for your loss... I love that you honor him in this and other videos... God Bless You!
Take heart….as long as he is in your mind and heart he will always be with you and you will be reunited….best wishes and thanks for taking us along!
Love that we get to go on this adventure with you guys and get to experience these things.. My condolences to you and your family!! God Bless and stay safe!!!
Thanks for sharing your dads exploits and adventures.
I grew up in a small town in the desert Southwest. We didn’t have much to do in our little town, but we had 1000’s of miles of desert. Dad would load up the family and we’ve head out into the desert in his 71’ Jeepster Commando on 31s. It instilled a love of off roading that lived in me to this day. Watching this video brought back many wonderful memories of our adventures. May your Dad Rest in Peace. I’m sure he’s smiling down seeing you on his favorite trail! 😎
This is going to be a great series. I can't wait to see them all. It's awesome when a son honors his dad enough to do somethinglike this. Good job 👍
Dang Colt that was so epic and the scenery and the clips of your dad wow….Shannon telling her memories of her father-in-law…amazing drone footage…now that is how a drone is supposed to be used not the crap you see on the media…. Keep em coming you two….I know your dad is enjoying every bit of this…❤
Awesome Colt. Your Dad shaped a good man. Your wife and yourself seem to be doing the same with your kids. Thanks for sharing your intimate moments.
I can see where you got your smile! I'm pleased you think enough of us to share... Thanx !
This video was just amazing! Your videography, old footage, stories and emotion made this episode unforgettable.
Thank you so much for sharing such a personal time.
Rest in Peace Sir. You raised a good son.
Cheers from Southern California USA 🇺🇸 ❤
Thanks, the next 3 videos should be just as good.
i know just how you all feel, and i am truely very very sorry for your loss and pain colt and family i have suffered the same loss 3 times .....1st my brother on christmas morning back in 1965, the my dad on news year morning in 1966.and yet again my mother on my birthday in 1990 yes i know just what you all feel.(AND TO THIS DAY IT STILL HURTS). colt thank you for sharing these videos .
Outstanding. 🙏🙏🙏
Man I couldn't wait for this video to drop!! I lost my dad about 2 years ago and I cant imagine the heartwarming and often heart wrenching memories in trying to film and edit this video.
This summer we are traveling from TN to Colorado for 2 weeks of trails and this one just made the list if its open. I'll stop somewhere along the way, and give pops a tilt of the hat. Love the old film and thanks for this!
Thanks Colt, I'm sure your dad was really proud of you, and he enjoyed this trip without a doubt brother.
My father taught me to 4wd when I was 12 in a 1962 Landrover Model 88. 4cyl, 4 speed. That was 54 years ago. Now I take my JK on those trails and get teary eyed. I can hear him say, go left, gun it, slow down ! I know exactly how you feel. God bless. Our dads, the old timers, knew how to teach us and to respect the land.
I lost my dad 4 years ago and these tributes you are doing just make me smile. I was so fortunate to have a great man for a father that loved to teach anyone what he knew, in my case a telecom and electronics engineer.
As usual with your video trecks, lots of great scenery, which I enjoy. My condolences on your loss. I lost my Dad in 2011 and it has turned out that the experiences I remembered which originally brought me sadness, over time instead bring me joyful memories. I hope that happens for you also.
That scenery was beautiful great tribute to your dad I live in Texas and my best memories are going on vacation with my family in the early seventies to Colorado in the mountains God and family that’s the key to a happy life
Thank you for sharing these amazing stories. You have a beautiful family Colt.
Thanks for taking us on this journey Colt! Honored to get to ride along ❤
Thank you for sharing this with us. My mom passed away a little over a year ago and we have taken her with us too.
Dang it Colt and Shana, that one hits in the feels. So awesome that you two are able to do that for (and with in spirit) your dad. so many cool memories cant wait to hear and see more of them. Your dad seamed like a pretty cool guy that I would have loved to hang out with.
He was a pretty rad dude
I am loving these videos in memory of your dad and i can damn sure see the love you and Shanna( hope its spelled right) felt for him!! May he rest in peace on top of Pearl Pass!! When Shanna lost it and started tearing up, so did I as to me it showed how much respect she had for your father!!! It also reminded me of my mother in law that passed away several years ago and the respect i had for my wifes mother!! The views were EPIC as always and im so glad you got to take that trip with Shanna and your dad finally!!! Again may he RIP
Well done Colt…..Beautiful.
I’m going to enjoy this tribute series. 👍👍
I really enjoy your tribute to your dad. My dad, who has also passed away a few years ago, taught me more than any school, trade school or college could ever teach. He taught me an excellent work ethic. And one of his favorite sayings was, a winner never quits and a quitter never wins. I have lived by that throughout my journey in life, and it is so true. God bless sorry for your loss.
Love the memories and inviting us in to what makes your channel so exciting. ❤
Thanks for the video colt. Memories are all we have, i hope you had great time with your Pops and your wife. Happy Holidays to all of you.
Absolutely beautiful way to start the series. Thanks for allowing us to enjoy your journey. Best wishes and deepest condolences
I still end up holding my beath at times when you show how close to the edge of the road that you get ! But I'm glad that you do show me it because you help to get over my fear of going over the edge !
Beautiful! What a great tribute to your dad.
Absolutely beautiful.
Great video, love the old home movies! Your dad was one of the tough pioneers 💪💪
don't know you or your dad. but damn if I didn't get teary eyed watching the video. what a great tribute to your families legacy.
That was beautiful scenery and touching. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome video. I look forward to the others.
Absolutely enjoyed this to the max!! I agree that Fall is the best time to be out there...the colors take my breath away! Looking forward to more about your dad's adventures!!
It was awesome to follow along with you on Google Maps 3D. I could imagine driving along with you. So glad that the snow didn't stop you and so you could have this experience with your dad.
Thank you for sharing yalls life and your memories, this is one of the most touching videos I have watched. Glad yall have the memories and was willing to share
What an awesome video, Colt!! As I was watching the video, I was thinking to myself how much fun they had 30, 31, maybe 33" tires. And then look at today. If you're not running running 40s, you're a peasant. It's so crazy how the times have changed. I absolutely love your videos and your family.Keep up the awesome work!!
Colt, it seems like your dad was a really neat guy. I bet he probably crossed paths with my cousin in Colorado Springs, who was also modifying and wheeling jeeps during that time. This is a very touching series of videos you're putting together to honor your pop❤
Great job guys. Sorry for your loss. Thank you 😊
Great first tribute video! Loved all the old footage with your dad & friends. I know he is looking down and smiling!!🥰🏔️
Colt, I can only tell you my experience when losing a Parent... I never got over it, I now live life with that wound of loss.... I'm only 63, and the older you get, the more you lose... I've lost more friends and family than I have left... I wake up everyday thankful for having known them... As time moves on, and the generations from older to younger start passing, you realize that your next... Make the best of your life, and live it to the fullest 🙏..
Reminds of doing the Rubicon with my dad many years ago
Thank you and god bless
Beautiful trail! Amazing memories ❤️
great stuff....your dads random narrations in his own words are just awesome !

Loved this video! So beautiful and going down memory lane is always a good time. I'm glad Shanna is going to continue " joke of the trail " I love it. Again I'm sorry for your loss and really appreciate the family videos.
Thank you so much, it is a special trail.
Thank you for this. It's heart warming.
WOW! You have a gold mine of footage here! Amazing that they filmed all of this back in the day. Those scouts and cj's are beautiful 16:43 to see in action. God bless you, brother, and may your father rest in peace.
Wow. Fantastic video. Was good hearing Mac's voice. And a wonderful tribute to your Dad and your Mom also.
Wonderful that you had those old pics and videos!
Made me miss Colorado.
Here’s to the best Dad’s every where. I sure miss mine and I know there is a lot of us out there that miss there’s. ❤️
Dang you woman no crying. Gonna make the rest of us. Be happy of the time spent. Pass those stories on to your children.
I will tell you and your beautiful wife. Back in the late 80’s I had a 1967 scout with a 4 speed standard twin stick transfer case and a PTO WINCH. God bless you and your family this is the most heartfelt documentary I have ever watched ❤
It was all stock
Thank you for sharing your dad with us. I can tell his passing affected Shannon as it does you. I wish I could have gone over Pearl Pass with my dad on one of our many 'wheeling trips. My dad really enjoyed the San Juans.
Cheers and hugs.
Outstanding tribute to your father !!
I ran pearl pass last year and its one of the best trails in North American.
My hat is off to you for you honoring your dad this way. 🙏
I love this! What a great tribute to your dad!
Thanks, it was worth creating.
