Thanks for the very helpful video. I will need to use Collaborate Ultra next week as our university has moved to an online format for the next 3 weeks, so I appreciate your clear demonstration
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost the account password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
Thank you for a well documented, understandable video, am at NC A&T and we too are now online ... and I am recommending our dept use Ultra ... unfortunately it is buried in the TOOLS menu for us. Again, thanks for your care and effort in getting us up to speed. DT
Excellent video. Every other video I have watched on using this software, including the video the instructor included on the blackboard site itself, were all nearly worthless.
Thank you for making this helpful video....we will should probably to start our classes using this tool because of covid here in Honduras...Muchas Gracias
Please can you tell us where the recoreded file of the session is? and how to deal with it as downloading it if possible and sharing with students. And thank you for your excellent video
Nice video. Sadly this program seems to have a major flaw: it doesn’t show a moving cursor to the participants. Especially for those with intensive visual images to comment on, this is a drawback. The draw tool doesn’t serve this purpose, only registering statically after you’ve moved and released the mouse click. 😞
Excellent video! Can Break-out groups share their whiteboard with the whole group? For example, if each break-out group creates a Venn Diagram on the white board, can each group do a sort of show and tell presentation to the whole?
Sally, I haven’t used Blackboard for two years, as we moved to Canvas, but from what I remember at the time - No, only with the people in the group - though Blackboard’s roadmap was that this was supposed to be possible at some point, so maybe it can now!
You use a tool to highlight what you are doing (the yellow circle). I have used this tool before but have lost it on my old computer/. Can you share what the tool is please and thanks.
Jannett, it is Screencast-o-matic, I use it to record the tutorials. There is a freebie version (limited to 15 minute recordings) and a paid version that gets you more bells and whistles.
Dear Robert, Thank you so much, great help. What kind of headset might you recommend? Your audio is clean and clear and easy to understand. Do you use a peripheral webcam also? What kind please? Thanks, A. Carson in Miami
Can you add a "quick link" to access the collaborate link in the tabs? Without having students go to tools or create a separate session for each class?
thank you for the tutorial some questions though 1)can the moderator give different persons in the group different roles at one time for example student A is the presenter while student B is the note taker? 2) can a google slides be used instead of powerpoint to be viewed on the screen
Actually, I was too quick on the draw! We use Canvas now so I don't know the second question for sure as I haven't used the tool for 2 years. At the time it would only share PPTs, Excel and Word. I had heard this was expanded but can't check.
Thank you for this very helpful video. I was somewhat familiar with the original Collaborate but not Ultra. I do have one (dumb) question: you mentioned that a Word file can be shared with students via Google Drive so that collaborative editing could be done (I am in English). I am not quite sure how I share the file from Google Drive, however. Do I have the Google Drive open on my desktop and use the Share Application feature you demonstrated for the website? Or do I need to share it another way in advance of the session? If you could clarify that, I'm good to go!
I am teaching a synchronous course in which I assigned the students to meet in breakout groups on their own schedule. Can I utilize Blackboard Collaborative Ultra for this?
We no longer use Blackboard, been about 2+ years now, but when I used the tool you could do a live session and record it well, so this would work for a synchronous environment.
So helpful! I have the same question someone asked below. You use a tool to highlight what you are doing (the yellow circle), do you know how I can implement that? I select the pointer, but it is very small and not very visible to the students. Thank you!
Actually this is part of the tool I use to make the tutorials. Screencast-o-matic. There is a free version but you get water mark and 15 minute time limit. I signed up for the paid version I think I get 3 years for $36 or something like that, so since I use this tool at least once a week, it is worth it for me.
I am also here because of COVID19 and tried collaborate for my class the other day. I had some who could not hear my audio and others who could see the whiteboard but could not see anything I wrote on it. Anyone have any quick fixes? Suspecting device/browser issues...but it was really making it hard to accomplish anything productive.
This is well done, thank you for this. Question, how can I use a drawing tablet and have it seen in Collaborate Ultra? Does it keep track of attendance?
You would have to be able to project the drawing table into the "stage" of Collaborate and then it would be recorded. It doesn't keep track of attendance unless you have everyone participating "say something" - and you are recoding you can see this in playback
Many thanks for your helpful video. Just one quick question: can I select only a certain number of students for the virtual class (and not all those who are enrolled in the module)? Thanks
It has been about 2 years since I have used Blackboard as we have moved over to Canvas. From, what I remember the default is for all students in your class can participate or you can edit and just invite who you want.
It has been about 2 years since I have used Blackboard as we have moved over to Canvas. I no longer have access to check for sure, so doing it from memory. First it takes quite a while to show up in the spot, but where you go to launch one, it will eventually show up in the same spot.
Omar, you can find them in the Collaborate tool area, Recordings are listed under Sessions. You can easily record a Session Blackboard Collaborate Ultra so that participants can review the Session at a later time or it can be viewed by someone who was unable to attend the Session. Viewing a Recording Viewing a RecordingZoom: Viewing a Recording To view a Collaborate Ultra recording, go to your Collaborate link in Blackboard and click on it--this will take you to the Blackboard Collaborate screen--this is the same screen where your Session is listed. Click on the Menu button to open the menu Click on Recording in the left-hand menu. Click on the View Recording link in the list of recordings that are available. If you do not see your recordings, click on Filter By and Select Recordings in a Range and enter a date range to see your recordings
Great video, thanks. Could you tell me - where are the recordings stored by default? Just tried a run through and recorded a segment but I can't see where it has gone! I saw the bit about recording from 25:15 on but I didn't hear where it is saved (not sure if you mentioned that). Thanks again. Steve.
Similar to some of the recent commentators, I'm here because of Covid 19. Thanks for a very helpful video.
Thank you so much for walking through everything in a slow pace for a novice user!
Great Video on Blackboard basic Collab Ultra. Thank you for keeping this short and in parts. Makes it easier to digest remember and implement.
I am here because of COVID-19 on March 12
Me too
Same here
Same!
Same

Fantastic tutorial!! I will be using this, and this video is by far the best tutorial I've watched! Very thorough-- very much appreciated, thank you!
Cannot thank you enough for this outstanding presentation. I'm sharing it to all my faculty. Best thing I've found.
I know Im asking randomly but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?

@Arthur Wesley instablaster ;)
The same comment as one posted down, we are moving to online teaching until Covid 19 threat passes, and this video is super helpful. Thanks
Agreed. Thank you so much. Very helpful.
Gigantic thanks, Mister Payne, for the precious explanations and insight! To say that it was helpful is to say nothing! Salam from Baku!
Thanks. Excellent presentation. It gave me some insight of this "black" board.
this is by far the best tutorial i have watched on youtube.. thanks Rob

Fantastic tutorial, very easy to follow. Thank you
This is such a clear and helpful video. Thank you for posting.

Extremely helpful video for the novice!
I am here to learn how to use collaborate ultra in my blackboard classes due to COVID-19 on March 25
Thank you for making this helpful video....we will should probably to start our classes using this tool because of covid here in Honduras...Muchas Gracias
Thank you for this. It is clear and straight-forward
Thank you!!! this was so helpful!! It is my first time using Collaborate Ultra...teaching online because of the Covid19.
Thank you very much for an excellent tutorial. Now I feel I can do this starting next week.
What a great tutorial, very clear and understandable video! Thanks so much! We are moving to online teaching too, and it's a bit stressful situation
Great Video!
Thanks so much. It's so cool and I love it.
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you. This is a wonderfully helpful tutorial.
Many thanks!!! This presentation is really useful !!!
Thanks a lot for the VID, u really made my night.
Thank you for sharing . Understandable tutorial

Good tutorial, I learned a lot.
Thank you. Very helpful! Here due to Covid 19 as well.

After terrible update of Blackboard, I can't find "Course tools" to go to collaborate ultra
Thank you for posting this helpful video.
This was very helpful, TY.
wonderful presentation! Thanks a lot 👏👏

If you are referring to the digital whiteboard there is an erase all and an individual eraser that you can delete my moving your mouse cursor

How do I fix the audio I tried everything but still can't hear what the professor is saying!! Please help
I have this problem too. The reason why I'm here
I feel completely lost in my organic chemistry class without an adiuo😫
Have you tried using a different browser? It might be your computer but sometimes changing browser helps with audio issues.
Maxdk thank you I will try that 💙👍
Change your browser. I had the same issue and when I changed to chrome, everything works.

Can the students see my screen as I search for a file to share?
Thank you! Well done and very helpful.
Hey
this is a great tutorial. is there a way to upload and share PDF of text that can then be annotated live? thanks
That was excellent thankyou!

anybody knows if things drawn in the whiteboard are anonymous? or are IT guys able to identify who drew/typed what
I hate that when you share on the screen a pdf, you cannot turn them.
Hi there! Thank you for the video. Quick question - where do you find the recording after you stopped it? I was looking for it and couldn't find it.

When you record a session, where does the recording go? How can I find the recorded session and download it?
Omar, you can find them in the Collaborate tool area, Recordings are listed under Sessions.
You can easily record a Session Blackboard Collaborate Ultra so that participants can review the Session at a later time or it can be viewed by someone who was unable to attend the Session.
Viewing a Recording
Viewing a RecordingZoom: Viewing a Recording
To view a Collaborate Ultra recording, go to your Collaborate link in Blackboard and click on it--this will take you to the Blackboard Collaborate screen--this is the same screen where your Session is listed.

@@GuitarRJP Thank you very much.
There is the menu option on the corner top of collaborate ultra screen. Click on it a drop down list with sessions and recordings are visible.
I do not see the Blackboard collaborate in the course tools ..... (I am a student)
Students can't launch it, only faculty and the organization has to pay for the tool it is an add-on and then has to be turned on for use.
Thanks, very helpful.
So helpful!!
14:50 so you can write, but you cannot erase if you made a mistake?? You have to delete everything and start over again? Is this a joke???

Thank you. Excellent tutorial 🙏
