It is perfect for survival solo players how it is now. I always wanted to have the access to lots of iron blocks, just like any other block in minecraft. Finally, with todays simplest iron golem mechanics, it's possible for me as a solo casual player. And also to have the resources for big projects.

I remember trying to get a name tagged zombie into a composter. These days the basic beds in a hole works well early game, and then one can move on to a more advanced farm with higher rates. It’s a very good system of the more you invest in builder the more you get out.

Too easy these days but there's so much more to do to keep your world running now so more time to do other things. Double edged sword I guess. Simplification and automation vs grind.
Many things cost a lot of iron to make the more you advance in a world. So I think the mining face is just first days or weeks of playing a fresh new world. Then the iron farm is necessary as part of the game to improve your world. Get a nice block as the iron block which is very expensive to make, hoppers, tools, etc...Especially if you play solo. Where it becomes extremely hard to collect materials for example, a construction with iron blocks, or many different beacons. See, I think iron farms came to the game to stay in the game forever. Also is very fun!! and creative!! The industrial ''feeling'' of any farm gives Minecraft a nice touch of gameplay. And that's the same reason why redstone also came to the game years ago.

the farms evolved like computers, they started big and became really compact
