Brilliant, glad i found you!! Started windsurfing when i was 12 in Weymouth Dorset, stopped sailing when i was in my early 30's, i am now 50, and have a son and daughter itching to get out on the water with there own kit! This video was really helpful, thankyou!
Hey Gerard. That’s awesome. So much great used kit around you should be able to get them gear to get them going and before long they’ll be taking your kit 🤩 So good you’re back in the sport. #windsurfingiscool
With the current fuel prices, it costs me nearly £150 to fill the tank. You are getting some great kit for not much more than a couple of tank fulls, that could last you years. Also, not quite so bad when you fall on your sail and put the hook through it when it's £100 rather than £1500 😱. There is quite a bit of good second hand kit out there, especially if you are patient and keep an eye out on auction sites. Also, fb marketplace and fb groups are worth keeping an eye on, and worth chatting to other windsurfers at sailing locations. Most folk are really happy to chat and you may be lucky and find someone with old kit they are willing to part with, or know of someone 🤙
Great topic!! There is so much great kit out there for next to nothing in the grand scheme of things......I do wonder why on earth I spend so much money on new kit when its probably not that necessary...
Hey Kev. I try and stress in the video it’s personal choice to buy up to date kit and change it from time to time which in our sport does cost a lot of money. But, if that’s your passion then why not. I wanted to make clear it’s not a brag talking about the cost of a 2022 full rig it’s just a fact but a shit load of money. And you’re bang on - the quality and amount of used kit out there is huge and someone really could get set up for around €600 or $1000 - amazing. Thanks so much for your comment again and getting involved. 🤙💥
@@boomwindsurfing2744 absolutely, I am enjoying just how good the new kit is these days, astounding performance.....I think you did a great job emphasizing the personal choice, its a very good point and something people may not think about....
I ride only on second hand kit. Well cause I can’t justify the cost, important thing is I have so much fun still and still kick ass over the boys and girls with new gear and no idea. Great subject.
I’ll agree that second hand is better value but you are lucky where you are shopping, none of that gear goes for those prices as far as I can see recently. The only second hand carbon mast extension I could find was £88. There is also the issue of correct knowledge. It is hard to learn what the right kit is. I see it regularly on forums, someone asks “is this suitable” and the answer is ALWAYS it depends - weight, wind, chop, sail size, sail type, board size, board type, fin size, fin type, experience, conditions etc etc … At todays prices it’s a hell of a punt if you’re not an expert. 🤷🤙
@@niclaskarlin I am sure you are right in the wider windsurf world, but for me anything that saves weight is beneficial. I have a lower back and a shoulder injury so the lighter things are the less fatigued I am so the more i can concentrate on getting better. 🤙
Agreed Steven. This kit more targeted at someone who’s maybe tried it on holiday or done some locally and wants to get their own kit. For complete beginners, some amazing deals or free kit out there. 🤙💥

Mk do new carbon extension for £69. There are bargains if you wait and know gear, which newbies don't but can ask
@@stevencarter6350 Thanks, that is great info for the future - check MK first! A pity they didn't show in my Google Shopping search.
Carbon extension must be the least worth compared with aluminium!? Is there a any benefit at all?
