Tony Allen Defense on Kobe Bryant - 2008 Finals Game 5

- Tony Allen only played 19 minutes in the entire 2008 Finals, and the only time Allen guarded Kobe in the 2008 Finals was the 2nd quarter of Game 5. Allen did a very good job in preventing Kobe from scoring during the stretch he was on him, but other times Kobe beat his defense with passes
You know that you're defending Kobe well when he's forced to pass.
XtremAll - Nightcore he's passing out of a double team lol
HE PASSES OMG
ben ofc you didn’t
Jibreel Abdul-Jabbar right I like Kobe but give tony Allen his props😂💯
@ben kobe fanboy
@ben the screened him everytime
24 being guarded by 42. That is a match.
yooo bro
Great observation bro
And players of polar opposites of eachother
Can we talk about how fast the pass Kobe threw to Pau was. That was a laser.
That was a bad pass.
Pass was perfect actually
Allen truly great props to Kobe for the recognition to this man
I hated to be the 25th person to like this comment. !! Figure it out
Love this man. Could you do a video of Tony Allens Defense on Kevin Durant in the 2011 Playoffs or 2013
I've wanted to do that but I never found footage from those series. If I do find it I'll do those videos
+Nobody Touches Jordan alright I'll be waiting on those videos love your work by the way
+Nobody Touches Jordan Where do you find game footage

@@NobodyTouchesJordanKD DELETED IT MAN
Tony Allen is an absolute stud top 5 perimeter defender on his era he played clean too none of that those dirty plays
This video doesn't showcase Tony Allen hard defense. Kobe just missed an in and out shot that didn't roll in could have easily, and the kobe pass wasn't his fault, it was gasol. Love Tony Allen but this video doesn't show what he's known for
Bro do u know what defense is u can't guard Kobe u can contain him a turnover lil things to stop rhythm are huge he is a all time scorer
royal mcmorris , Tony Allen always lock Kobe down
@@rice909 guarded him the best
royal mcmorris , same thing
@@rice909 guarding someone the best out of all other defenders isn't the "same thing" as locking someone down clown, look at their career numbers vs eachother. Tony didn't lock shit down lol
2:00 Kobe was polished as hell! That shit was clean. Allen just a different breed lol, he was all on that!
Nobody else guarding that but TA
2:00 that move
Am I the only person here since Kobe died
No there is 2 of us
Mokshith D V Im really sad for a person I never met ,thats a first guys.He was an inspiration
I heard this was Kobe's toughest defender. Had to come and check him out. I am not disappointed.
Jerky Jones yeah that is why I am here too
Mamba truly left us great basketball to dissect greatness
watching this now im remembering how good lamar odom really was
Could you make a Ben Wallace defensive video for tribute? His jersey just got retired
Tony Allen was the Gary Payton of that era
"He's the defender you'd crying for help"
-Kobe
this makes no sense
More like "he's the only one who didnt cry for help"
how are you going to quote someone but get the quote wrong...
Nice try. But at least get the quote somewhat close geezus. He said tony "was the only one not crying for help"
Let's be real. No one is stopping Kobe 1 on 1. It's that Celtics team defense that made Allen more effective and that's not taking anything away from Allen because he was a great defender.
But no one is saying he can stop him 1 on 1🤦♂️ just dont say anything at all if you aint trying to take anything away from allen especially with non sense.
Kobe finger is injured
Give the man his flowers. Kobe said himself Tony Allen was the best defender he had to play against, KD and Steph said the same thing.
XDDXDXDXXDDXDXDXDXDX@@lamarrockett979
The only lockdown i see here are the lockdowned possibilities of getting to watch a proper video of Tony Allen locking down Kobe. This is like some inception shit right here.
Do u not see him sticking to Kobe and his teammates can't seem to find Kobe in spots cuz Tony is a pest
Tony Allen played great defense. But Kobe did exactly what he wanted to do. Unfortunately they weren't successful plays
They weren't successful plays because he did get the separation he wanted.
@@anthonydunkley7844 kobe doesnt need separation. he just missed
Shits hard to watch. Man we lost a legend
"hurt himself playing one-on-one" Guy gets injured for weird reasons.. I remember him hurting himself by dunking after the whistle
Facebook Undisputed video of Tony Allen speaking on Kobe brought me here.
Kobe thought he was Jordan turns out all you had to do is play basic defense
Tony allen best defender of all time
He just might be
First Team all defense Tony Allen voice
After watching this video, Allen barely played ANY defense...other than the 1st possession where he denied ball...He just got lucky Kobe missed these shots.
He has Kobe moving more wasting lil energy to shake him off
Facts ik, Kobe just missed shots he can easily make, Tony didn't do shit in this video.
Tony Allen played way greater defense than displayed.. 2 shots he missed wasn’t because of Allen’s defense, he just missed the shot.
The pass to Gasol was Gasol fault because he should’ve rolled harder.
See nobody's perfect
back when NBA doesn't wait for defenders to bleed before calling an offensive foul.
Idk why Tony Allen jersey didn't go up without him Kobe would have 2 3 peats
1st Team, ALL DEFENSE!!!
Celtics defense was intense here if the nuggets played this celtics roster they have no chance to win a chip
He was on his way up to becoming a great offensive producer before that post-whistle dunk that blew out his knee. He was a great defender, but was just blooming into an offensive player when that injury occured.
Shame. He could have been a great overall player if he'd just stopped when the whistle was blown.
if this is the best footage you can gind of Kobe getting shut down than he cant be shut down cause I didnt see shit! Kobe the GOAT

Very bad attempt at trolling
Who’s here after undisputed
Bro use to do that with no help
1:25 that was a dime to gasol
If you can find some Tony Allen defense of LeBron, I will love you
+Jaccobtw I never really see Tony Allen guarding LeBron...
Probably cuz they only play twice a year
Kobe had to shake and rattle more to shake him off I didn't notice till now Kobe couldn't do no wrong wen I was younger but I notice Allen was on him wasting lil bit of energy trying to shake him off shots he should be making
Loved Kobe but he wasn’t the best passer 🤧
System Defense.
You know you came here because Draymond Green made some weed smoking comment
Lamar Odom was getting those boards!
Lakers were long
Kobe calling for the ball when Allen had him locked up in the first 20 seconds ignorant and only Kobe would do that.
Ok state produces Tony Allen then Marcus Smart and now Cade Cunningham 🍊🔫
The only shot he made Kobe miss was when he almost blocked the ball, the other ones were just normal misses. Kobe made amazing plays/reads for his teammates,
Lol gtfo man, he literally forced kobe to pass the ball and kobe threw it out of bounds like 3 times.
@@greyk610 umm… that has no correlation to my comment buddy
@@IPraise22 You're trying to downplay Allen's defense, lol.
@@greyk610 “the only shot he made kobe miss” has no correlation to “he literally forced Kobe to pass” I wasn’t downplaying Allen’s misses, Tony Allen is one of the greatest perimeter defenders of all time. But Kobe is arguably the GOAT at his peak, he just took the craziest shots and was a microwave player. There’s a reason he wasn’t anywhere near a 40% 3pt shooter.
how about mchales defense on jordan
Kobum brickant is so overrated. His horrible efficiencies throughout his career is proof of stat padding n most missed shots in history is another proof. That ball hog was a certified stat padder who made his stats look nice lmfao. Tony Allen owned his brick shooting ass.
Every shot was open Kobe just missed
Nope, all of them are highly contested shot
That’s what he does best.
and draymond has the guts to say he is the best defender
This was before Draymond was in the league....
Also Green is the more versatile and impactful defender IMO
What do you think of the Golden State Warriors? Do you think they're a bit overrated, do you think they can beat the Bull's record and even if they did, would it even be the same because of their schedule?
I have respect for the Warriors. So far they've played a great year. I was worried at first that they would beat the 72-10 record, but now I don't think they will. I think they will have at least 1 more loss in their next 3 games against the Bulls, Pacers, Spurs and they'll reach 5 losses before getting 41 wins, which is where the 96 Bulls lost their 5th game. They also have 3 more games apiece to play against OKC and SAS not including the upcoming game on Jan 25, so their schedule is going to get tougher compared to the first half of the season
The one thing about the Bulls in 96 is that Rodman missed 18 games in which the went 15-3, so ideally the Bulls could have gone 75-7 in the perfect scenario. But the Warriors also had their injuries to Barnes and Curry sat out in one of their losses, so I think it evens out in that regard
Nobody Touches Jordan Good points, always good to hear you insight.
i like tuttles 🐢
+Nobody Touches Jordan Looks like they're going to break it :)
yeah. I dont want them to but it looks like they will
