Spectacular piece! The first time I heard this was in the late 80's /early 90's(?), live at the Bushnell in Hartford Ct. The next day I purchased a CD recording of this piece. Also can recommend Martinu's "Les Fresques" (sp?)

yes, Paul Sacher commissioned this work, as so mayn others, also Honegger's 2nd Symphony...
colincomposer Sacher also helped Martinu to escape tu USA during the II world war...
