  • Don't you tell me what's origin. I don't know if Japan is "origin" nor don't I even care. It's a custom IN Japan for sure.

    Thank you! You did a very nice job. I was confused about folding top or bottom for a funeral and you showed it very clearly. I didnʻt know about the new vs used bills either. This helps me to remember there are rules I need to know about in order to be respectful.

    Thanks, I really appreciate the information. I've had two deaths in the family recently and I had very little clue as to how to prepare the Koden's. You did a great public service for us people who have Japanese relatives. Thank you again!

    Is this a asmr video? If not might as well be, so soothing as to how he explained everything, this is how asmr videos are suppose to be ladies and gentlemen who eat and kiss and fling on their videos, unintentional. Thank you I have learned more about your culture.

    • @RealArtVandelay

      no, Jesus you ASRM people are cringy, snap out of it for a second. Exactly, its supposed to be UNINTENTIONNAL, but now its the cringy keyword for every creepy teenager out there so they plaster them in every video, and people who dont really care about it (like maybe this youtuber) will go WTF and stop making videos

    Very good. Clear and well presented. It is DAMN hard to remember how to do these envelopes after many years of no weddings / funerals here in Japan. There is a low birth rate now here so fewer people marry and there are many long lifers due to improved care and quality of life. This video helped me prepare my wedding envelope to give to the happy couple, 有難うございました!

  • @TonyDiscenza

    From what I read, there are fairly standard amounts to gift depending on the relationship between giver and recipient(s).
    If you are a single adult and not facing any particular financial hardship, $30,000 yen would be appropriate if you are a friend of the couple being married. This is especially if there is a reception associated with the event.
    I'm writing this in June, 2024 and $30,000 ¥ is worth about $191 USD.

    I'm Native American, and we give money to the family at funerals to help. We do it a bit different, we wait in line to have a speaker say who it's from. The family usually writes it down. We do it at weddings too. At least it was done at my mom's wedding, then again she married a non native.

    Good job! This has helped me understand what was printed on my Koden. Questions: Do you have to write in Kanji(because I cannot); can I write in my native language? The inner envelope (for the money) shows where to write "how much", "address", and "name", but where do you write those three things on the outer envelope? Which direction should the face of the money be placed in the envelope? I was told that was important as well.

    I know this is old and you probably dont make videos anymore, but if you allow me a little advice, it would be much more professionnal if you used a script, instead of adding written text corrections on your videos afterwards and going back and forth, write your ideas before and have the script in front of you when you make the video, thats how most of the youtubers do, you would probably save time and look much less disorganised. Very interesting video by the way!

  • @5tinkytofu
    @5tinkytofu 11 років тому +3

    your presentation is DISORGANIZED. do one entirely first, then cover the 2nd topic after. even you are not sure what the envelopes package says and you're referring back and forth

      He goes Ad Lib, it's a style and it comes out more natural, but yeah it's all over the place, he could use a script, but again, to each his own
