The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is a series of superhero films, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and based on characters that appear in American comic books by DC Comics. The shared universe, much like the original DC Universe in comic books and the television programs, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters. The films have been in production since 2011, and in that time, Warner Bros has distributed nine films, with several others in various stages of development. It is the eleventh-highest-grossing film franchise of all time, having grossed over $5.6 billion at the global box office. Its upcoming movie is Zack Snyder's Justice League. It's highest-grossing film is Aquaman, which earned over $1.15 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing DC film to date.

Had Warner Bros release the BvS Extended version, it would have been one of the top all-time grossers.

I think that the first movies of DCEU had much better box office from the first movies of MCU
But the timeline is different in 2008 we can't expect the same amount of audience. And ticket prices now is very high . And also in marvel first movie was iron man who was a very unknown character but in dc it was super and batman so ofcourse they are well known. No hate just wanna share some facts
Yeah. It feels like the MCU got progressively Better while DCEU got Progressevely Worse. Though tbh Its mostly the Writers Fault. Some of DC's Heroes are More Iconic that Some of Marvel like Superman And Batman. These deserves more Box than it has. It might not get even close to better Box Office than Marvel. The popularity of superhero movies was much different back in 2008 and now marvel is the most successful movie franchise ever made and they have been running for just over a decade

I wish Justice League 2017 didn't exist... and instead Zack Snyder's Justice League had been released in theatres. It would have been one of the top all-time grossing movies.
BvS should have been a billion dollar movie. Instead it’s box office dropped big time after the first few weeks. That poor showing would have made the casual fan who make up the vast majority of movie goers hesitant about sitting through another four hour Snyder movie. So don’t think that a theater release would have been a blockbuster.

The movie was not idle, there was a message it wanted to give and it gave it properly. Despite the female director and the two female lead roles, there was no stupid feminism and sjw. If you want to see bad movie, look at "birds of prey". My criticism of the movie are that the soundtrack was very bad. There was no catchy music for a movie set in the 80s and the action could be a little bit more.

warner bros is my fave film company, kinda sad how they messed up dceu but I can see some improvements of how they're handling their dc movies now. hopefully their 2022 dc slate Black Adam, Aquaman 2, Blue Beetle, The Batman and Batgirl will be the redeeming factor. the suicide squad 2021 was really really good, so its a good start

When you see the numbers DC doesn't even come close to marvel.
That’s because WB had Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Matrix to invest in so they didn’t really go all in on the DCEU until recently. Starting next year we’re getting 4 DC films a year, the same amount as Marvel. Whereas before it was only 1 a year, 2 if were lucky
Its also because DC is at its inception on snyderverse restoration and other movies on the way it surely will, its quite unreasonable to compare it before hand.
