About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I fully agree with point about sharing what we are learning about in an open, transparent means, makes us teachers!

Its interesting that there are all of these /new/ theories that are just harkening back to our innate need as humans to be connected to each other, local community and the earth at large. Technology will do great things to help us here if we learn to use it wisely!

Ideas I picked from this talk: collapsing to connections, science: drawing appropriate connections (cause / effect?), SNS's play a possible role in binding back of information to our social (roots), networks afford distributed cognition and hence more capable of addressing challenging problems, MOOC's, desired coherent narrative of a traditional classroom environment might be fragmented (compromised) in an alternative media environment, "how do you create a centralized outcome through a decentralized distributed process".

Well said if educational systems think like corporates, we are failing and we will fail!

I'd love to know more about George's background and early schooling. Was Spanish his L1? Were his parents Mexican? Why did he end up in Canada? Is he bilingual?

Connected learners create communities; communities sometimes fragment and other times work together. I am concerned that virtual communities are at (many?) times connected only electronically and not always in other ways, fragmenting easily. How do educational communities create connections without simply creating too many electronic representations of our connections?

The earth wobbles on its axis, meaning the north and southern hemispheres move slightly nearer and then further away from the sun as they rotate around the sun.
