About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
11:11 "The act of showing others how we're learning is an instructional task" ... i think very true..
Great talk. Thanks, Tedx!
I fully agree with point about sharing what we are learning about in an open, transparent means, makes us teachers!
Its interesting that there are all of these /new/ theories that are just harkening back to our innate need as humans to be connected to each other, local community and the earth at large. Technology will do great things to help us here if we learn to use it wisely!
Ideas I picked from this talk: collapsing to connections, science: drawing appropriate connections (cause / effect?), SNS's play a possible role in binding back of information to our social (roots), networks afford distributed cognition and hence more capable of addressing challenging problems, MOOC's, desired coherent narrative of a traditional classroom environment might be fragmented (compromised) in an alternative media environment, "how do you create a centralized outcome through a decentralized distributed process".
Well said if educational systems think like corporates, we are failing and we will fail!
Thank you, for sharing your origins.
I don't understand what does he means by "media fragments understanding".
I'd love to know more about George's background and early schooling. Was Spanish his L1? Were his parents Mexican? Why did he end up in Canada? Is he bilingual?
Nicely, done George. I enjoyed that quite a bit and will pass it on to my students.
Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..?
I somehow lost my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Dexter Gavin instablaster ;)
@Antonio Rhys Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Tiene una opción donde dice CC que puedes ponerlo en Español los subtitulos.
Connected learners create communities; communities sometimes fragment and other times work together. I am concerned that virtual communities are at (many?) times connected only electronically and not always in other ways, fragmenting easily. How do educational communities create connections without simply creating too many electronic representations of our connections?
Não sei falar inglês, por isso não entendo. Deveria ter legenda em português
Ok. Gracias Luis José.
Connectivism unveiled! (gr8t story, and last five minutes is a fine wrap-up!)
Why do we have four seasons?
The earth wobbles on its axis, meaning the north and southern hemispheres move slightly nearer and then further away from the sun as they rotate around the sun.
Wow ! He's really bright,
I just wish he used less big words - and more....... common language.
Best,
Alguien podrá traducirlo al español????
@MandN2009
here's why we have four...
