Yeah, I’ve had my art stolen. When i was in 5th grade and someone who I thought was my friend drew the exact same thing I did, POSSIBLY even stole my art and wrote her name on it.

Shein really needs to stop stealing other peoples original designs and copying small artists just to make profit out of it, they been doing this for years non stop and still to this day they haven't changed.
Yeah and it's easy to get away with because of the laws regarding it, I hate how easy it is to abuse especially how this is a big company! At this point all of these are intentional!! (Keep in mind I don't have a great idea how the law works regarding these especially international laws)

my advice legal wise (im not a lawyer) is either talk to other ppl who've had their designs stolen and try to file as a group or like make a fundraiser for legal fees because lets be real, SHEIN isn't going to stop if they don't face consequences. They've stolen from big brands too like ANGELIC PRETTY AD BABY THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT! Like they do NOT care.
Only way to get Shein to stop is for people to stop shopping with them. You can't fix stupid and stupid people don't care about stolen art or fast fashion that's destroying the earth
Yeah, I think your plan of action was correct: let as many people know not to shop or support SHEIN in any way, and help spread the word about viable small business alternatives to fast fashion. It might just be a drop in the ocean to the humongous monster that is the fast fashion industry, but the change can be felt with the small business owners and artists, and I think that is worth it.
This is so sad! Design stealing is absolutely disgusting and it’s so sad to see they are still stealing your designs ;-(
They say stealing is a compliment but considering the frequency at which it happens and their size compared to who they steal from, it's straight up abuse. The fact that people still throw so much money at them is worrying. It's not like they don't know about this!

I am a preteen that loves your videos and i first discovered shein by curiosity. When i realized that shein supports exploitation , child labour and stealing designs i just realized i should just stick to uni-clo and other clothing shops.

As a person who buys from shein and specifically from Romwe. I am disappointed, I would never thought that they stole desings, I thought at first that they are getting inspired with permission or they give smth like merch. I refuse to buy from Shein, Temu, or any similar company. I won’t bend on this! I actually think it’s gross that they can list their HQ in the US. It’s deliberately misleading.

My husband is an artist that has had his designs stolen also. Not by huge companies like yours were, but his designs were stolen and sold around the world through smaller companies. It took him months to have the designs removed from so many sites. One design was stolen by a tattoo artist and marketed as their own design. It became a permanent part of someone’s body. 😮 There needs to be better laws to help artists, especially now with so much AI.
Is there anyway to get them licenced (like, I think I have seen some fine artsts getting a serial number by getting them licenced for their art works)?

I used to be into art when I was younger. I wanted to keep my own, original Intellectual Properties protected but could have never afforded the fees to legally copyright them. I had a friend who was a fellow artist. They informed me I should make copies of designs I wanted to keep in my working portfolio but to seal the originals and mail them to myself. A sealed, officially postmarked manilla envelope would qualify as a legal document for IP. I dunno if this is still applicable under current law. Might be worth looking into. Wish you the best 🤓👍

I’m so sorry this happened to you, and I hope things are fixed. Something that really frustrates me about Shein and other fast fashion brands is they have really leaned into our misinterpretation of the phrase “no ethical consumption under capitalism”. I once met someone who said she would constantly buy things from there, and I was surprised because she didn’t seem like someone who would (being socially conscious etc). But then she just repeated that phrase to me. First of all, the phrase “no ethical consumption under capitalism” is not just a nihilistic excuse to buy whatever you want. It means that while we all contribute to problems in the capitalist system every time we buy anything, there is still kind of this scale of ethics to consider. Like you said, Shein is waaaaaayyyyyyyy worse in terms of volume and their number of crimes than other fast fashion brands, even if those other brands are doing the same thing on a smaller scale. Therefore if someone chooses to buy from Shein over, say Target, that’s definitely worse. The point isn’t to completely eradicate fast fashion overnight, that’s impossible. The point is to reduce demand for it through education, economic justice, and small business investment. So whenever people say hopeless things like that, they are often feeling so overwhelmed with how unjust the world is that they feel like there’s no point in fighting. But there is! I always try to politely explain these things to people in my life where I can and lead by example. Because often times people buy cheap clothes cuz that’s all they can afford. And it’s not fair to put so much pressure on individual consumers to change so corporations can keep doing all this bad stuff.

My mom shops from shein and got us clothes from there, and a few months ago i mentioned how shein steals designs, and she said that she thinks people are making stuff up because of how cheap shein is.. im seding her this video as proof, hopefully she understands and stops buying from them. ^^

Copywrite law in fashion does NOT protect against things like this!! Do not waste your money on a lawyer. It sucks, yes. Its a bad business, yes. But they are legally clear in all of these examples; and unfortunately, are only being polite by removing listings similar to yours. Focus on ensuring consumers recognze your brand as higher quality and better designs. Manufacture in the usa for even a modicum of copywrite protection if you genuinely care about it; but seriously, this isnt worth your time or money to fight it like this. The average consumer can recognize they are making a cheap rendition of your brand.
I have heard the "find out where your stuff comes from", " big business stealing, small business struggle" stuff for years. It never fully set in until today. I suppose I just needed to hear it from a girl with decora and nice voice!

I am absolutely disgusted at this whole thing, and I'm so sorry this happened.. So many fast fashion companies thrive off of stealing designs from small artists and profiting off of others work, and it is so sickening. This has been a huge issue I've noticed not just with fashion, but across so many different forms of art (and on other sites like Temu and ROMWE) and I just hate that it's an issue that's so ignored. I hope things get better for you, having your art and hardwork stolen is one of the worst experiences an artist can go through :(

I am a artist and personally I don’t put myself out there because I am afraid of this happening. Very unfortunate. Breaks my heart that a good person like you had people be this unreasonable. It's so frustrating that people buy from them at all. People always go for the "poor people need to buy from them" argument but as someone who's been extremely poor my entire life, I can confidently say no we fucking don't. There are tons of other options you can turn towards, it's just a lazy excuse.

I am so very sorry this happened to you, and as you can probably can tell that i am an artist and I've never ever gotten my art stolen by art content thieves in a first place!!! :< I've truly wish and hope that SHEIN gets truly sued and bankrupted and getting what they truly deserve and SHEIN is so uncalled for for what they did was absolutely bs so L for SHEIN and #BoycottSHEIN period!!!

I am really short on money and try to shop secondhand most of the time! But sometimes I find myself on the website ordering a bit of stuff from there, and I always feel so goddamn bad about it!
I was so tempted to buy from shein but I tthink about the materials, workers, and will I ever use it over years. I love thrifting so much I can buy annything new only if im gonna wear it over the years. Such as jeans. Or I even shop small businesses because they care about their customers
This happened to my ex a lot, he made incredible crazy clothing designs with like cool hanging objects (one time he made a coat with a LV bag all detached and reattached to the coat in a really high fashion way) and his ideas and designs were CONSTANTLY stolen. he even got something stolen by Erykah Badu … crazy . They always never responded back to him when he would call them out.

How is SHEIN even a legal company
I think in my non lawyer opinion it would be beneficial to keep flaming the company when you notice it. Likewise, I think it you could get together with some other artists to figure out a plan to sue them. I think the more people who come together the more likely it is they will make any sort of change. However that being said, your little section at the end is so helpful! I have already started trying to take those sorts of steps to personalize my clothing/accessories and also buy stuff I feel like will last a long time. For example, I make a lot of kandi and have started making my own jewelry and modifying old socks to make arm warmers etc. Finding ways to recycle old clothing as well will always be a good practice. I still can't personally afford to only buy from small businesses, but I still save up and make sure to find some major statement pieces or cool items from independent artists! I try my best to support as many alt fashion businesses as possible even if I can't always afford their stuff. Eventually I hope I can start a business similar to yours, so I found this vid very eye-opening. ❤

Sadly, shein is the only place that does the alt fashion i like in my size, and my budget is always too small for the big brands.

Id recommend buying from acdc rag they have a lot of plus sizes and their clothes aren’t too expensive :) and if that’s still too expensive there are a lot of second hand websites extra for alt clothes that also sell a lot of plus size clothes
Not me just opening a brand new with tags top and matching skirt that I got from Romwe, not knowing they were part of Shein. It's crap quality, feels like a Halloween costume, and now I don't know what to do with it because I literally feel sad when I put it on my body. Maybe I can take it apart and DIY the statement collar onto a different shirt that isn't made from fabric worse than Spirit Halloween. I'm so sorry they keep stealing art from small communities like those involved with J-fashion, I have deleted the app from my phone and I will never buy another piece from Romwe/Shein as long as they exist.

What’s ur design process hun? Are you using a manufacturer who has open design software? Are u drop shipping? Do u have an exclusive contract and rights to ur designs? If not then these are why SHEIN can steal from you…See if ur manufacturer is selling your designs and you may need a copyright lawyer..

It meant everything to hear you explain how much time/labor it costs for garment manufacturing + how to protect yourself. I love to sew but wow is it time consuming & expensive to progress in. Even if you upcycle sometimes. Their employees deserve better.
The weird material of a dress I made & shared on Instagram 2 years ago is popular on SHEIN. Maybe other people were nostalgic for this 90s halloween costume fabric the same time as me…maybe.

I got here from the recommendations, and I'm so sorry this happened to you - three times! It sucks so much seeing a big company like Shein constantly steal from small artists and getting away with it. They are so big at this point that it is easier and cheaper for them to continue to steal designs, get called out, then pay hush-hush money to settle the lawsuit. We really need better laws in place (especially international laws) that make it harder for big brands and companies to commit this kind of IP theft and force them pay a very hefty fine if they do. Until then, your plan of encouraging people to avoid Shein and pointing them towards more sustainable options really is the best course of action; next to encouraging people to just buy from small businesses in general.
I'm also gonna check out your shop; it may not be much, but I feel like it's the least I can do.
I’m so sorry this has happened to you,I understand how you feel,last year Temu started using several photos of my makeup looks to use as for makeup advertisement to sell one of their glitter eyeliners using my face and they refused to remove my pics and to this day I receive 100s of dms asking if I work with Temu or inform me I’m on their website it’s disgusting using my pics without Permission or even pay me but I’ve just learnt to sit with this Bs nothing I can do

I love that you mentioned the lack of plus-size options. I was excited when I checked out your brand shop and noticed the plus-size options. However, I then noticed many of them were oriental sized. In the US a 39" waist is not a 5x. I looked around and noticed some of your products were reasonably sized and others were oriental sized. I wish you could make all of your clothing the same sizes. Example, a 3x has the same waist size in all your products. Bet thanks for at least trying to be size inclusive.

To me, the problem is Capitalism. I'm a Communist and in my ideal world, everything would be free and distributed equally. People would have free reign to design things out of passion and love not out of incentive to make a living.. The basic essentials especially need to be free to access like; food, clothing, water, shelter, healthcare/medical care etc.. In a classless society we'd be much better off... :/
On a positive note, you've inspired me with J-fashion. I'm slowly putting together an inari kitsune yami kawaii/vkei mix outfit. I've already been into vkei and yami kawaii to an extent separately but now I want to combine the 2 styles.
