Immature? Nearly all stories based off of Romeo and Juliet deals with muder and suicide just like the original. So anyone who hasn't seen this anime would automatically assume it has romance in a bloody conflict that has a horrible ending. What's Immature about that?

It is implied that both the East (the Black Dogs origin home country, imagine kinda like Japan) and the West (the White Cats origin home country, imagine Europe with the noble caste ) were at war and just recently signed a peace treaty, with the manga taking place after the peace treaty after a while, still lingering hatred between the two but no real bloodshed. As a sign of goodwill, they establish a boarding school at an island inhabited by both the west and the east people. This is why the Black Dogs and White Cats are constantly at "war" with each other, mostly because they want to show dominance against the other household.
