We were in the path of totality, but had significant cloud cover. The darkness was neat. The 360° bright horizon was cool, it was like a crazy sunset in every direction.
I was in the path of totality here in northeast Texas. When it got dark all the street lights and solar lights came on. It got really cool and the birds started landing on the electric lines as if to go to sleep. Im glad i was able to witness this eclipse, it was realy something!🌑
The next solar eclipse in the US will be 2044. I highly recommend being in the path of totality. It was truly remarkable. I thought it was going to be lame but it was amazing. Almost spiritual.
Don't leave no stone unturned Mike Q. This video was profound, and I m glad you did a video on the eclipse. The next one is 2026. I saw it thanks to a friend who gave me glasses.. IInteresting that maybe the next video for any eclipse will be more in-depth. Take care and continue progressing.. See ya .
Please do teepee style fire's instead of log cabin. My boy scout days still bug me. Dont light anything till you have built the whole structure. Ball up a bunch of newspapers, put kindling on top, then smaller logs and light
That’s what we did 60 years ago. I’m 66, so I remember the poking a hole in a box and holding a piece of paper behind it. Worked perfect. We couldn’t afford the glasses for watching all the different eclipses.
Thanks, Mike for all the video content you do. Always fun being along for the ride. I was in the path of totality here in Texas. Like you, I try to avoid big crowds and only had 30-50 people where I was. I drove 243 miles but it was so worth it. Totality was so worth the travel time. The temperature dropped and everything got quiet including the birds. Pictures don't do it justice and the total experience was amazing. A once in a lifetime experience. Keep up the adventures, I am always riding shotgun. G
You saw a Mark 4 tamper roll by. That machine lifts and levels the tracks. I’m sure off camera another machine went by which would have been a ballast regulator which follows the tamper and makes the ballast look good!
sign them and give them away during a live that would be cool etch your crazyQuady tag in them with the date of the eclipsed people will want them i bet
Yep, everytime there was a solar eclipses me and my sisters would make the pin hole viewers we cut a hole in one side of the box and put a sheet of aluminum foil and poked the pin hole in that so you got a clearer projection of the sun.
I was driving back to north Texas after car camping in Kentucky, at the LBL with a bunch of my Sasquatch loving, weirdo friends. I always try to stop for gas at Love's along the way. Sure nuff, I see the sign, pull off the highway, and find the most lovely little Love's ever. I was somewhere in Arkansas, the place was well off the highway and surrounded by tall pines. I filled the tank then pulled up to the building to use the facilities, but first, I checked Facebook. Face buried in my device, I started hearing sounds of awe and delight. I looked up to find it completely dark outside! I jumped out of my Honda Element, and what I sight. I had somehow stopped for gas at the perfect time, and was rewarded with a once in a lifetime experience, shared with strangers in a parking lot. It was incredible! Love your stuff! Tell me where you get your sheets! Hard to find them to fit my cot. ❤️🏕🏞🌌👣
Hey buddy, this is big Scotty enjoying your new video from Rogers Arkansas! We had an awesome eclipse here . My wife and I grilled Carna Asada and Jalapeño sausages....😮Almost totality here.
Hello Mike from Melbourne Australia off the eclipse was a non event downunder thought you did a Sterling job and yes the cardboard and hole trick was a great favorite way to view an eclipse here also keep videos coming most enjoyable.....
quady they dont light meaning the boxes because they are laced with a special liquid that causs them not to be flameable so a fire can spread which is why they dont light they burn but dont light that well. They have to reach a certin temp to get it to burn
I don’t remember the exact year, but some time in the late 70s I made a viewing box and got extra credit in my science class. I’ve used the same principle to view other eclipses throughout the years.
My birthday was April 8th😊 I slept next to tracks across America for many years. Im retired now, but It still always feel like home. Loved Uncle pete pulling a junker on by.. I Always thought them rigs were just line fixers 😂 Cool video
Hey Mike, great video. I'm always worried when you use a larger pot to boil water that it might spill and burn you be careful 😊 Food looked great, and I loved the Eclipse footage. TY! I Liked the artwork on the beer box and can too! Loved the Wizard ! Always fun watching! Looking forward to next adventure 😊
Way cool vid. Loved the train part, as YT just lost a guy (drowned) named Hobo Shoestring that used to ride the rails. Maybe some hatch green chilies in that meal. Theres a group of folks that are look alikes of characters from the movie, going around to festivals and recreating scenes. They've got the cars and semi too. Eastbound and Down Tribute. When you turned on the movie, i thought of one song, Bandit. Sorta fits you in a way. "They call you the Bandit, an outlaw untamed. Shackled only by freedom, you wear no man's chain. Some say they despise you, well, maybe they do. But deep down inside them, I bet they wish they were you." 😎
Hey Mike! Fellow railroader here and huge fan of your channel. (Sent you the folding table 😅) That machine was a Tamper. It tamps that rock underneath the ties or timbers as some call it. It’s used to keep the track smooth and in spec! Hopefully he didn’t have his face in his phone, it’s a big no no! 😂 Be careful out there man!
Heck yeah! Anything railroad I can help you with I would love to. You’ve inspired me to build out my truck and camp out in it. Least I could do for you.
The only thing missing with the chicken bacon ranch Mac and cheese was HOT SAUCE! Lol we need more hot sauce in your videos! Lol still video was Awesome thanks Mike!
I swear to God some of the stuff you either eat.. or that you put on your food.. Love all your videos, keep up the great work.. I do tune in to see what's for dinner next though. lol
I'm a Railfan Crazy Quady And I love ❤️ hanging around the Railroad Tracks And I Didn't see the Solar Eclipse in Carver Minnesota That Rail Track Machine was a Railroad Tamper Machine Keep the UA-cam videos Coming Crazy Quady 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
We got 99.9% totality here in wood river illinois about 20 minutes from downtown stl. Looked like waterworld and it got chilly way cool. We found 6 lbs of morels im cutting them up and soaking them watching you hunt.
Great video! Thanks for the pictures of the eclipse, I didn't get a chance to see it. The food looked great. I love velveeta mac and cheese. I never tried canned chicken 🐔. I'll have to try it. 😊
The eclipse here in our state of Maine was very very special. Didn't have to travel at all!! Just drink some beers, and cook foods right here at home. Traffic was horrible for visitors, it was insane!!!
Did the cardboard box/paper trick with the partial eclipse in Lincoln in ‘94, it definitely works. I looked the event up and it says it was “annular” which is a little different somehow I think.
The eclipse was cool. We were 90% here in south west Michigan. Crazy how bright it still was. Great video! Man, I want to go camping. Maybe I should take my wagon and camp in the back of that. 👍
I wasn’t too wild about the solar eclipse either. It was a bad omen for me. My truck broke down in Chicago and my con worker driver picked me up and I road back to Milwaukee. They towed the truck. I loved your freight train and eclipse video. The train was so awesome. You had a great spot picked out nice work. I love it. Never gets boaring with you Quady. The food looked really delicious as well. Keep up the good work hoss. Can’t wait for a night of Thunderstorm camping. ⛈️ 🏕️
Thursday's used to suck.. then along came Quady.....time to crack a beer. 😂
🍻
We were in the path of totality, but had significant cloud cover. The darkness was neat. The 360° bright horizon was cool, it was like a crazy sunset in every direction.

That sounds awesome. I'm so jealous.

Hey, you can be Smoky and I could be your Bandit!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

30 yrs on the Railroad and I couldn't tell what that machine was Lol...looked like a tamper

You should always have a case of water in the truck. Never know what can happen.
bloody hell crazy how many beers you had 🤣 cheers from the land down under
Always have extras in the cooler in case someone stops by!
I remember My Dad poking holes in a box and watching an eclipse back in 69 .. I was 6 or 7..

Most definitely need to buy a case of bottled water 12 oz or 16 oz to keep as a backup for the backup 😊
I was gonna suggest keeping 2 half-gallon jugs of water that can be bought at Dollar Tree, if they are in your area, as back-ups.
sign them and give them away during a live that would be cool etch your crazyQuady tag in them with the date of the eclipsed people will want them i bet
Mac n cheese is the best! Nice camp Quady cheers again 😊
🍻
That little trick shot pulling out the beer was a cool idea
Yep, everytime there was a solar eclipses me and my sisters would make the pin hole viewers we cut a hole in one side of the box and put a sheet of aluminum foil and poked the pin hole in that so you got a clearer projection of the sun.
never ever look into the sun without protecting spectacles! great vlog like always
In the Silverado you always had bottled water in the door.
Yes, Sonic Drive-thru is the Premier Manufacturer of Precision Eclipse Optometry. 👍 🙂

Was 100% here in Massillon Ohio. Was awesome.
I loved the quarters on the track! Cool Eclipse!
That was a tamper. It tamps the ballast under the ties to adjust the tracks
THAT WAS A tAMPOER IT AGGITATES THE bALLAST AND ooops it stablelizes the the ties and rail ... I could talk forever about the railway I worked for CNR

Good video. I am into model trains so a rail fanning video would be awesome!
quady they dont light meaning the boxes because they are laced with a special liquid that causs them not to be flameable so a fire can spread which is why they dont light they burn but dont light that well. They have to reach a certin temp to get it to burn

We were in full totality here in Cleveland and it was awesome for those 4 minutes
its the troll trail lol
Watched it o. My back deck in Indiana. It was dark enough for my solar lights to go on. Cool
I don’t remember the exact year, but some time in the late 70s I made a viewing box and got extra credit in my science class. I’ve used the same principle to view other eclipses throughout the years.
The equipment that went by before the train is a tamper. It lifts the tracks to level them then tamps ballast under the ties.
It was pretty cool here in Omaha, we had 83% of totality they said. Another top notch video from Mr. Quady himself stay up my friend ✌ O'NE Luv
Thanks for watching!

@crazyquady the machine on the tracks is a tamper. It lifts the ties and shakes gravel under to level the track.

Did the cardboard box/paper trick with the partial eclipse in Lincoln in ‘94, it definitely works. I looked the event up and it says it was “annular” which is a little different somehow I think.
Moon shadow is too small for totality
quady you have been eating a lot of fresh veg lately what has gotten into you? (besides the fresh veg)
