- The drama depicts the love story of Bai Feng Jiu and Dong Hua Di Jun, that spans 2000 years. Feng Jiu, the queen of Qing Qiu, is the only red nine-tailed fox in Qing Qiu and thus being pampered by everyone. She loves to cry and to throw tantrums but is also persistent and brave. One day, when Feng Jiu is in the mountains for cultivation, a beast attacks her. Luckily, the former Emperor of Heaven Dong Hua passes by at this moment and saves her. To pay the debt of gratitude, Feng Jiu follows Dong Hua who goes to fight the rebelling Demon Lord. Feng Jiu soon realizes that gratitude has turned into love, however, Dong Hua already forgot what love is. In order to keep her safe, Dong Hua sends Feng Jiu to the mortal realm, but the guardian he sends together with her unexpectedly dies. While trying to find the immortal fruit that can let her be reborn, Feng Jiu enters the temple of the ghost princess.

Jennifer Huff Can we give 1000% credit to the actor, so much of the majesty of Dong hua depends on his body language and tone. Watching this show on repeat I am noticing how his face changes subtle to reveal something new, blink you will miss, irony they nickname him ice/poker face when his face reveals so much. brilliant performance no other actor has played such a complicated character to such perfection.
His interactions with lian song and feng have the most warmth he is most himself, they are his friend and family. With everyone else he is emperor, indifferent, cold and distant.
I wish they showed us the scene where Feng Jiu is drunk and unwilling to let go of Dijun's clothes while he's trying to go. That would be really funny. 🤣🤣🤣

@@LiaaRo I think Donghua recognized the fengjiu, for something he was not surprised when lian song told him that fengjiu had gone to the mortal realm for him, because since xuanren was a past life, he could see what was happening in the mortal world. through the mirror of miaoluo (for something they put a lot of emphasis on that topic), but he could only see his life in mortal land, but he could not see his life as an emperor and thus discover that fengjiu was the red fox and that she was a maiden of palace. Also after meeting fengjiu he went to the waterfall where the mirror is and after that scene he chased more fengjiu, additionally he felt hurt by her, I thought he felt betrayed because he only knew a part of the story, He did not know that she had gone to the mortal world for him, he only knew that she had made him suffer.
@@postcreativo5613 The thing is that immortals who had to go through trials in mortal realms had to drink the water of forgetful river so that they can be detached from whatever feelings and experienced they got in mortal realm.. this way they can go back to the immortal realms without attachment and do their duty again well.
He could indeed watch his mortal life using the mirror, but one should remember that Fengjiu was supposed to be possesing the body of the original maiden in the palace, so... in reality, her face should actully not look like his immortal look... but the look of the emperor's concubine in mortal realm, only the soul belongs to Fengjiu.
It's just not practical to elaborate this fact in a film like this, hence they use always the same actor...that's why the audiences misunderstood this fact.
Donghua can see his love fate in mortal realm, but he couldn't know that it's Fengjiu, cos she used another body and her immortal aura was naturally not there...she also conceal her phoenix mole on the forehead.
However with his status, he actually could ask to check on the fate book from Siming Singjun if he wanted too. It's abusing status, yes, but who would dare to say "No"?
However... Siming had deliberately showed him the original fate planned for him only and didn't show him the one where the plot is already altered due to Fengjiu's arrival in mortal realms for him.
Siming did that for the sake of protecting Fengjiu from both punishment for interfering the business but also to protect her dignity as a queen of Qingqiu.
It's Siming's favor as a friend, therefore he deliberately hid that fact even from Donghua.

sm familylover Yeah that is very amusing even when the current king talks to Dong hua his eyes are closed like whatever dude. And when the king addresses Dong hua it is never a command it is a request like pretty please. We don’t get into the politics much but it is fascinating it seems like king is king only in name only, Dong hua holds the real power and even though he sits one step lower he never bows to anyone they all bow to him.
A special mention to Dong hua sitting style, no other character has made casually sitting on the floor look so sexy. Brilliant performance by the actor to use his body to exude authority and ease, even as he sits like he is taking a nap he commands the room.
Yes his eyes are usually closed, looking down or drifting far away into space. He is listening to what everyone is saying but he doesn’t care, but on a repeat watch any mention of a fox, or Feng or his connection to her his body language changes, his eyes open, he sits upright, a smile. Especially after he came back from the mortal trial he is got radar on her, it is not an accident they keep bumping into each other he knows exactly where she is and what she is doing.
Anamika Mandal No one is mentioned this but at 37:08 the soundtrack has heart beat in it, it is the moment he opens and closes his eyes sensing her presence and he takes a deep breath of comfort. BEAUTIFUL I AM OBSESSED. There are lots of nuances in their scenes you need multiple watch to deeply appreciate this love story. Dong hua confirms that Feng too is interested in him when she bets on herself, he has never been more interested in a conversation regarding marriage.

These two troublemakers, not wanting to let zhihe get off so lightly 😆 in the book it was bai qian who started the "play acting" with Feng jiu smoothly joining in, here it's her uncle.

I just finished the whole show and go back to watch these scenes and it makes sense more why they suffer because they have such poor communication.
Here DH uses zhihe battle excuse to fight with yan because he can’t just go around fighting everybody who challenges him otherwise he will be flooded, so it is just a cover to give him an out. But feng misunderstands him thinking he is doing this to protect his sister HUGE SIGH, feeding her insecurities she is not his priority. He sneers at her at the end doesn’t understand why should would be upset, obviously she is upset enough to get drunk so it is a big deal to her but he just finds it amusing. Simple things like this doesn’t seem like a big deal but it shows their problems. You can say they are not in relationship now so he doesn’t have to explain himself but they behave this way always, she assumes he never clarifies.

i had been watching the drama for about 10 hours straight and i was just about sleeping when the bracelet scene cracked me up lamo
For those who blamed him for taking her to the fight with Demon Yan and dropping her into the valley, remember 25:18, she asked him to take her with him. And he was only amused by the idea of Demon Yan's fight. Yan is no match at all it would be just like a walk for him anyway. And note that he always put her as handkerchief under his sleeves, but on the day of the fight, he fastened the handkerchief to his clothes so that he won't lose her and so she could watch the fight.
do you see the irony in the fact that he fastened her to his belt and still lost her? LOL :D

She was drunk when she asked him about it, drunken nonsense could not be taken seriously, and he took her with him because he wanted to impress her. And then, in a drunken state, she mentally returned to the episode when he went into battle with Ian at that time and fell into a trap, she then wanted to get there and watch the fight
Yeah...and above all that, he is basically a bored high immortal who somehow just found an adoreable little fairy who subconsciously reminds him of his beloved little red fox. He doesn't know the reason but he is fond of her and just can't help want to tease her, prank her, annoy her. He has been an unfeeling man and recently thinks that her existence could brighten up his boring days, hence he wants to take her anywhere whenever it is possible. And this is one of rare opportunity to take her to play around so why not do it... he never thought that he could lose her and he made sure that nothing dangerous could befall her by protecting her using his energy ball. This is a precious power of an high god and would not be used at a whim afterall, so...
he had already taken her as an important person by doing it, she just didn't know it. She doesn't know that she had always been protected even when she was separated from him through this event.

Even though he keeps teasing her, he listened to her request to bring her to the fight and he brought her (in the book, she was super excited to be brought to the fight bc she always wanted to witness his famous battles in history).He rarely listens to people, but he definitely dotes on her, whether she remembers the request or not haha. You see it later on when he takes care of her after she’s sick from the Miao Luo battle (he’s actually serving someone), giving her the wreath to show his love, making the birds come dance for her. Just so adorable.
I’m waiting for Bai Qian and Ye Hua to rip out Zhihie’s eyes.
