Pretty interesting video, i learn some new ways of thinking about base position and body rotation but why the people find that a system build on pattern must be better that a system that you gather all information possible in books, people or internet to build your own Martial Art by constant practicing, doing mistakes and work on your ways of thinking to improve yourself before you realize that win a fight, it is not really important until you give your best.
    Be water, my friend!

I was taught to place your rear foot forward on your backhanded angles. 1 if your using an actual live blade so you won't cut your own leg & 2 for more torque. Use the female & male triangles for footwork.

If you have any sort of basic cutting practice you should be able to avoid chopping your leg off.

@@matthewlawrence7056 that's just the way I was taught. Inosanto/Lacoste style.

I'm just talking about the first basic stuff I was taught.

@@kevincopeland5601 it's good form, definitely gives more power. The leg explanation is questionable though.

Imagine doing a low scoop pass with your arm. Use the back edge of your forearm of your lead arm & pass & then switch feet as you pass the blade so you won't cut you lead leg.

Yes, of course there are many different situations where the forward foot changes! Too much to fit into one video

did arnis class during elementary school, i forgot some stuff now other than what my mentor taught us to not let your stick get grabbed or we lose the fight so my mates and i trained avoidance and fast smash and dodge technique 😁😁
Thanks to these i remember the stances

This is very basic but fundamentally sound.
The closed stance however doesn't really close off all your vital organs. The liver and brachial artery are still vulnerable to blades.
The weapon hand over isn't something I'd recommend if you're worried about corto range fighters. It leaves you vulnerable to having the arm pinned for setting up strikes or grappling.

That was just 1 of the first defensive move I was taught for a forehand slash
