This may also allow the roadbridge foundations to be strengthened before it too fails. Perhaps a new dam (if really necessary) can be built later in a more stable location after surveying etc

    This isn't about a failure of the river bank or how the structure of the dam is still holding. This is about the people that oversees the operation of the dam. They are total failures and should be held accountable financially and criminally. They left the dam clogged with the debris not allowing the proper flow to be restored. If they would have taken even a little time to push aside the debris this flow could have slowed and possible not have had the entire legacy of that family destroyed. The Dam will be destroyed no matter what anyway. it has not footing on one entire side. They could have demolished part dam to maintain the flow until the waters slow. They have said that a surge of only 2 feet would have been felt down stream if the dam collapsed at the highest level anyway. This shows the total level of incompetence on people taking care of the existing infrastructure in that area. It isn't like that dam was even generating electricity any longer. It is useless as was this destruction. Pathetic.

    Nature calls the tune.

  • @user-jl2dz2bp5x
    @user-jl2dz2bp5x Місяць тому

    As the climate heads into greater extremes globally, how can we best deal with future climate crises?
    The short answer is that we cannot deal with them unless we take care of nature's inner balance.
    We live in a tightly-closed and interdependent system in which everything boomerangs back to us. While living in such a system, we need to reconsider what we want and think, and how we treat each other, because our human connections are the primary influence on how nature responds to us.
    It is common to think that climate is dependent on factors outside of us-whether it be balances between heat and cold in the environment, or the effects of various kinds of pollution we emit-because we lack a complete picture of how our attitudes to each other bring about the strongest responses from nature toward us.
    No creature distorts nature the way that we people do. And it is not simply a matter of switching to renewable energy sources, electric cars and the like; it is a matter of how we relate to each other.
    If we truly wish to witness more balance throughout nature and not have to deal with all kinds of cold waves and other natural disasters, then similarly to how we have electricity, water and gas meters in our homes, we should also have meters that count how much evil we emit into the world from our negative attitudes to each other. What I mean is that if we could feel the extent to which we emit negative forces into the world, which negatively ricochet back to us, then we would wish to change this negative driver within us. We would want to switch it to a drive that makes our human connections positive, and which harmonizes us with nature.
    In simple terms, when we get up in the morning, we should first and foremost consider what we need to do in order for all people to have it good. Developing such an attitude is not so simple, yet we will need to seriously work on it as we head into the future. A life of increasing blows from nature or a life of peace and harmony depends on the extent to which we impact a shift in our attitudes to each other-from negative to positive.

      So the party that tries to put money into infrastructure is to blame? While the party that denies the climate is having more extreme weather events and blocks spending on infrastructure is not.

    I keep reading that the dam was "partially breached." Interestingly correct, yet completely obfuscating.

    These before and after pictures don't look entirely the same. Why are some of the houses that remain suddenly different size/color?

    If your home is next to a river, i would start in selling that place because this is going to be a common thing im the future.
    The climate is changing rapidly.

    For every one degree centigrade of temperature increase of the atmosphere, it can hold seven percent more water. And this is compounding, like the "good" interest account.
    These events are going to increase in the same way. By allowing your political representatives to deny climate change is being caused by our fossil fuel use, you personally are causing this future that we WILL suffer, to be worse. You should send a message to them.

    Wasn’t there a way to remove all the debris. Use a helicopter with a grapple hook or something instead of just watching it come apart
