What about the auxiliary fuel pump module on the passenger side? How do you know when that needs replacing? How can you be certain it's the primary fuel level sending unit and not the auxiliary module? Why aren't there any videos of it?
Thank you so much for your excellent video! I lost my husband to covid in 2020 and I now have to do all the up keep on my car myself. I have a 2006 Chrysler 300. Money is so tight to say the least, but it feels good to learn to do as much as I can myself. Your channel here as given this 58 year old woman an I can attitude. Thank you!👍
Hello, I didn't think I could do this on my own, I almost gave up trying to take off that plate lol! But I got it off and your video made it so easy for me, much appreciated 🙏🏻
This video was right on point. The step by step was easy to follow for my 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring 3.5L. My only contention overall was attempting to release the metal ring. It took me almost half an hour but they conveniently cut this to only 10 seconds. I usually pay someone to work on my car but this video was eye opening and gave me the confidence to DIY. Whole job was no more than 60 minutes. Thanks 1A Auto! Keep up the good work.
Only thing I wished he’d mention in the video is that a fuel pump lock ring removal tool exist. I spent an hour trying to chisel that ring off the pump with 0 success. There’s a $4.99 tool at Oreileys Auto Part that mix it WAY easier. And chiseling metal next to all that fuel risking a spark doesn’t seem to be the best move lol great video tho 👍🏽
Usually when everything looks like fine but your car suddenly stops in middle of road or sometimes rough start (At beginning) are indications of bad pump (Not a totally dead pump). A lot of mechanics may suggest various things and you ending up many bills before the real remedy as in general, this does not turn in an error in OBD but your old car probably has something in store that drives the novice or crock mechanic in a different direction, initially. If in doubt, do a pressure check or even better, change the pump and go from there. More likely than not, your problem is solve. Other problems such as bad electrical connection, dirty fuel pump, regulator's vacuum valve diaphragm leak or fuel injector leak are fare less common.
Car may not run if you pull the fuse/relay first. Disconnect them while the car is running so more fuel will drain from the lines as the engine sputters out.
I replaced both of my fuel pumps and I still got the check engine light saying that it’s my fuel sensors level. I don’t know but the light doesn’t want to go away. Also, my gas gauge move up and down so I really don’t know when I have gas in the car. Do you know why ?
Would this be the same process for a 2003 chrysler concorde. I didn't see an access port in the trunk but haven't looked under the rear seats. Or will I have to drop the fuel tank.
Incredibly easy, hardest part to do for me was not get a drop of gas outside the tank, I spilled about 5 tablespoons full, entire work time was about 20 minutes from start to finish...
Its amazing how easy u make ut look I guess ur lock ting us clean n not rusty ir dirty so urs comes out easy u need tell peopke also if u hav kids vacuum up ne degree under seat n dirt around the fuel pump so u dbt drop nething n that hole when u remove

The only comment I have is the use of paper towel to clean out the fuel on the sides; I felt like the technician was pushing the contaminants back into the fuel tank. Maybe it's just me but overall an awesome video!
There is a tool available to remove that ring made for a Chrysler that you can get on Amazon...a bit easier than using a chisel and hammer....safer too.
Hi I was wondering if changing the fuel pump will fix this problem. My fuel gauge just started being stuck below empty then occasionally going to the correct fuel level and then back to empty when I start the car again. Could that be the problem?

Aftermarket replacements are terrible! I have replaced over 3 pumps and filters. I just go to the junkyard and get a $40 replacement from a Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, Challenger and Charger. Most of the aftermarkets only have a one year warranty. Life time warranty is the only one's i consider. Having gas levels below a 1/4 tank wears out the motors.
+Jay LovinPoo Thanks for watching! As you can tell by the video the lock ring is not the easiest thing to get off. It can be pretty finicky. I recommend trying to apply a small amount of penetrating oil (WD-40 etc) to try and loosen up the ring. I purchased fuel pumps for my 2006 Chrysler 300. You guys sold me a defective fuel pump. The harness on the fuel pump was not the right fit. Had to use old harness. The gage doesn’t work properly. Don’t know if I am low in gas. I provided the vin number to make sure the correct fuel pump was installed . Email your company. They requested for me to send them pictures. Didn’t seem like your company wanted to take ownership of a default item you sold me. But made money selling me a defective fuel pump. Will never purchase anything from your company.
