Ariana Hatcher It's her. She wrote the song with him and did the background vocal for the album version. He said it himself in a concert. They even performed it live in London. Since he's touring she can't follow him cuz she has her own career. That's why Julie who's the other background singer does it.

Ralph Sherman In the studio album track it's Cam. I know that cuz Cam said it herself in an interview and he also said it in London when he performed it with her. Since Cam can't tour too much with Sam he uses Julie the background singer who he used in the live Vevo version. If you listen close to the studio track you can hear Cams country style in the background. Julie sings in a lower octave than Cam.
Ralph Sherman They wrote the song together so it would make sense they would both record it but obviously with Sam being lead vocals since it was for his Album.

Me and my girl had just broken up, and I was dumb and thought she just didn't want me anymore. It was more about the timing of our relationship but I was too head over heels for her to realize the stress she was under. I opened up Spotify and saw she was listening to this song. Accidentally discovered the song Burning House in 2015, few months after it was released. The song became one of my favorites! Though I never really heard some of Cam's songs but I truly loved her voice. Every year, i'd still randomly listen to Burning House, until tonight I get to hear her cover of Sam Smith's Palace which is also one of my favorite songs. She owned it and she made me love the song even more! I may have discovered this late but still thank you for doing a cover of this song🤍
