There are so many features and so many creative ways to use those that it's actually really complicated to use all that tech in such a way that it's musically great. However, the BPM has been lowered massively and even legendary techno DJ's such as Carl Cox are normally playing to crowds to suit an agenda and often an audience in which many are not devoted 'tech heads' like back in the day. I know many DJ's who cannot play the kind of style and speed in which they'd like to, as they have to stick to what the promoters of the night/event tell them to stick to, as it's their job and income at the end of the day. The best way to hear them in their true form is when you privately hire them so they don't have to play to the prescribed sound which passes for today.

I went to this Dancevalley back in 2001, and still go to some parties and festivals nowadays too. XTC is still very populair here at the moment. Most people are still on stimulants.

I was at a party at Woodstock at Bloemendaal beach just a few weeks ago, Voltt, and was actually surprised to see how many people were on something, really noticed because I was sober. To be fair though, Luminosity and Voltt attract very different crowds, as the music is very different from each other. Woodstock also attracts a very different crowd than Vroeger and Fuel.I never go to trance parties, just techno and tech house.

As I'm belgian, let's talk about Tomorrowland… Tomorrowland nowadays is rubbish compared to the beginning years. It used to be partying and having a good time, now it is, like you said, all about flexing. Tomorrowland and all the old skool electronic festivals in the early 2000's were about having fun and having a good time dancing, not like the shit we get now. I stopped going to TL years ago, not the same vibe it was before! God i miss those days… As I'm typing this, its hitting me that I'm getting old (40years old atm to give you an idea)

Now I'm 23 and in the middle of the party scene. Every weekend I'm there.... trying to keep the same vibe from "back in the days" still going. I love it...And every weekend a tiny bit more... again and again.

I was there. Amazing set from Cox but unfortunately it was the worst Dancevalley festival ever in that period.
