Dan's introduction along with Carrie knowing a suspicious amount about "the masquerade" now has me convinced they're both vampires, but the cutest kind of vampires, like the count from sesame street.
Kingdom Hearts 1, Kingdom Hearts 2, Kingdom Hearts 3! nyehehe!
I can’t handle Dan and Carrie’s sheer amounts of wholesomeness
As a scientist, I do confirm that there is less gravity underwater. Gravity does not know how to swim yet. (But we are working on that!)
Now you gave me an image of gravity wearing water wings before its first swim and it's doing my head in a bit.
FUN FACTS to answer your questions throughout the game:
The ocean is indeed a very good analogue for what it's like to be in space! Astronauts actually have a special training pool they submerge replicas of the space station in, and they do their training for space walks while fully suited up and under water!
Space suits have to be able contain a pressurized atmosphere and stand up to the vacuum of space, so testing them underwater is a good way to check for leaks or weaknesses, and the environment is about as close as we can get to a weightless experience here on earth, especially if the water is salinated enough to provide extra boyancy.
It's not EXACTLY the same (You can kick your legs or move your hands to get momentum in water, and you can't do that in space with no atmosphere) but it's as close as we can currently get!
Astronauts also do sometimes spend weeks at a time in isolated pods out in the desert, simulating the isolation and working conditions (as close as possible anyway) of the surface of Mars. Any time they leave their habitat, they have to fully suit up like they're really on a space walk!
It's not only training, but also a psychological test to see how they handle the isolation and close quarters living space- and that has another analogue to divers! Deep sea divers who repair and work on pipelines in the ocean often have to remain in pressurized pods while they're on their work shifts, living in very close quarters with their fellow divers while on their rotation (I think the usual is two weeks). They remain in the pressurized capsule living area for the two weeks because it's safer and faster to just remain at the higher pressure than take time to decompress or reacclimate for every dive.
As for Sharks, I'm just gonna copy paste cause this was a good explanation:
Shark skin is covered by a layer of dermal denticles, otherwise known as placoid scales, that are made of the same material as human and stingray teeth. These flat, triangular scales have a central cavity supplied with blood flow, and they’re covered with a layer of dentine (hard tissue) for added protection. Denticles also grow with the shark as it ages, forming fresh scales between existing ones to cover the newly exposed shark skin.
Dan's vampire voice absolutely slays. (㇏(•̀ᵥᵥ•́)ノ)
Not to add to the Romanian vampire stereotype but Dan sounds like a mix between my great grandpa and the count from sesame street so the intro just teleported me back to my childhood lol
Physicist here to confirm Carrie is correct!
If you balance out weights and floats to achieve neutral bouyancy, underwater can be a pretty good analogue for zero gravity.
Some astronaut training is done in these conditions.
I think the "don't open your helmet if you want to breathe" aspect also helps.
Physicist here again to confirm that everyone does indeed know Carrie is cute!
Actually, some astronaut training does happen underwater! There's lots of interesting videos on it :]
4:10: Former attempted scientist here. (I'm an attempted accountant now. Please do not ask for details.) Space (by which I mean low orbit) doesn't actually have (that much) less gravity than Earth; there are just other forces that keep you from getting closer to the ground. Which is basically what buoyancy is. Moreover, buoyancy and centrifugal force have another critical factor in common: There are a bunch of obnoxious people online who will tell you that neither is a "real" force because of gravity (even though any definition of "force" that excludes centrifugal force must also exclude gravity under Einstein's theory of relativity).
17:17: Space magic is a well-respected sci-fi tradition! And I'm not even talking about Jedi. For a while, psychic powers were all over sci-fi, even in otherwise "hard" stories.
49:00: This game makes you act like a real kid.
1:00: It's okay, they both start with T. And my personal experience confirms that people frequently confuse names starting with T.
5:05: As an older sibling, I can confirm this. I can also confirm that it doesn't work. Well, sometimes it works once.
12:12: Technically crossing the finish line FTW!
18:40: ...a little disappointed that the game devs didn't let you screw yourself over in a fun way here.
25:10: Carrie, that's not even remotely true! One is slimes in hats.
47:15: I'd say "get a room," but they're literally married.
55:15: They don't, but "Thanks for defending my denticles" doesn't have the same ring.
I felt like they could have solved the drama club problem with "space cowboys from the dark side of the moon"
but a restaurant works too, I guess...
Supernatural meets cowboy bebop, easy as that
It's an opossum. Possums are the Australian ones, and they are mostly a solid, brownish-gray color. American opossums are white and gray like the one you met.
Floyd is an excellent vampire name
Definitely didn’t expect an 8675309 joke out of this game; that one caught me off guard
Something I just noticed this episode is that each new building you put in your town is filled with your recently collected friends, so where each kid ends up in the town changes based on how you explore the island
4:45 As always, you two laughing together is absolutely wonderful. I'm grateful for the joy you two add to my life with these videos. 😄
20:03 So wholesome, just the best. 😊
That intro made my morning! It was perfection!
The number of things that just absolutely break Carrie and reduce her to tears and laughter makes my day. Highlight of my week to hear you laugh Chaos Carrie.
I love how Floyd always plays along if the people do not know the common words.
Such amazing writing!
What a Grand intro!
(Also, the possum next to the water wants you to shield hop on the water)
I picked the game up after episode 2 and have been playing it as a relaxation-after-work game ever since.
I so wanna see someone speed run this!
This comment is _incredible_ in retrospect
"Nnnnoooooooo" says Carrie in the cutest way possible
40:08 they're chewing on the pencil :0
Flink is an amazing name. Also because it's a Dutch word often used to praise children. So very fitting ;-)
I think the opossum wants you to do water hops after shield sliding. Also, don't forget about bird kid!
38:21 Hey! They put IK on the hand on the railing! I'm happy Dan taught me what IK is. That's a nice touch. (Even if it's not necessarily ground breaking at this point)
Thanks for pointing that out! I'd've never noticed.
20:00 Dang, I already knew you two were the cutest yet I still wasn't prepared for the warm-fuzzies you two can inspire 💗
18:47 "What about side by side with a friend?" "Aye, I could do that."
This is entirely too cute. The game, Dan, and especially Carrie.
Possom is likely expecting you to unalive all the floating enemies like all your new friends - friendship through violence!!
These videos are so ridiculously wholesome. I hope you two keep having a wonderful life together!
There is a sense in which perhaps there is "less gravity" under water. The actual math is probably tricky though, as it depends on the exact density of the surrounding material.
But if we simplify and assume a perfectly uniform spherical planet (this is absolutely not true for Earth), going below the surface reduces the force of gravity linearly, as the stuff that is now *above* you starts pulling upon you. The closer to the center of the planet you get, the closer to weightless you become. The strongest pull of gravity happens right on the surface.
13:26 Nice! They made it to where you can take out the ragweed to be considerate of allergy sufferers everywhere!
EDIT: No, don't stop. In fact, dig down and make sure you yank out the whole root too.
This playthrough is such a wholesome time that I can't help but feel happy whenever I watch it
Hurrah you managed to get out of the vampire cave using speed!! Also I love Avery they're great, alongside the number of other characters in this game and quests that accompany meeting all of them! That castle seems nice and big, and plentiful of different occupants and things to do. Can't wait for the next episode, but until then have a good upcoming week you two!!
If you still have the chance, could you try climbing to a tall place and then using the balloons to Spider-Man your way out as far as you can?
*On the note of astronauts training in the desert, yes, NASA has astronauts train in Antarctica (which is a desert).*
Tangentially related, the surface of Mars resembles the Lut Desert of Iran.
In Norwegian, "Flink" means skilled
Avery is such a fun character but I feel the prime reason is Dan's voice.
46:11 ah, yes, the famed predator of ball pits everywhere.
I just really want to meet Carrie just to hear that adorable giggle in real life.
55:11 , somebody better pick up that phone....CAUSE I CALLED IT!!!
Good to see the tradition of missing the obvious, and forgetting core mechanics, is being upheld.
im loving this play through
Poor Rufio…a great film reference!
FYI Ssumantha didn't acknowledge you because Floyd can always jump up while swimming.
Ssumantha's teaching you a new trick for a different kind of situation.
There's less gravity underwater, trust me I'm a science man
Girl Genius offered the corollary to Arthur C. Clarke's assertion: any sufficiently explained magic is indistinguishable from science.
I heard it as the "Harry Potter Corollary" - any magic sufficiently debased enough is indistinguishable from science.
@@Kusinohki First time I ran into the quote was Girl Genius. A Google search is not yielding the panel, just a lot of other discussions, blogs, and the TV tropes page (figures, the more specific my query the less likely Google is to give me a relevant search result). I do not want to go hunting through the web comic.
@@Dinuial Yeah, searching the actual text of comic pages is an advanced art not yet known to Google, sadly. Maybe next year's model.
@@stevethepocket Given that Google has told me things don't exist when making a direct search for something I know to be on Google Books I have little hope of any version of Google helping me at any point in the future. Models based on site traffic and search popularity can only be stretched to so much utility.
just to breath
Fun fact unlike fish sharks are different and have a rubbery leather like skin that has a texture that is better for them to swim with. Also fish are split into two types boney ones which are fish with scales and boney gill flap, the other are soft bone fish such as sharks and rays their gills use a slit instead of a gill flap and have to be in re
36:23 I don't think i've ever felt as represented in a game as now. For i too remind my friends of an overstuffed pillow.
I think they're called "clans" rather than "houses" but, then again, everything _I_ know about Vampire: The Masquerade comes from two episodes of "Kindred: The Embraced" I watched in 1996.
Dan's vampire voice is top teir 🤣❤️
Donnie Darko? Donnie Basco?
I think I'd also make that mistake
Even if it is so tonally different
The first 41 seconds of this video would go great in a Highlight Reel.
Astronauts do train underwater, so that is confirmed
Guys, i'm afraid i gotta inform you that sharks are EXTREMELY smooth. Objectively the smoothest creatures on this planet.
but only in one direction.
She lost a retainer, Becca the shark lost a retainer
20:25 yeah... sorry, thats pretty common knowledge >.> so much so one might even just call it common sense :D
They really need to patch Ssumantha's text. It makes no mention of the fact that you need to do it on a shield for it to count.
Glad you agree that *Flink* is a cute name 😋
So: Maybe you're supposed to hop accross the water and destroy the floating monsters to complete the quest? Judging by the range beofre the Opossum (Yes, it's the NA variation, but both can be pronounced without the O if desired, and many do) says see you later.
Gosh you two are too adorably dorkable. Adorkable!
Wait, space wizard? Floyd's a Jedi now?
38:14
The gator has IK for putting his hand on the railing and pillar?!
Gator Game! :D
Is true. I sell people on this channel by saying that any video that includes Carrie is cavity-inducing levels of cute. Proven facts.
It's true Carrie, we do all know you're cute!
Actually sharks are smooth as hell in all directions
Maybe try doing the water hop on your shield? Oh that's going to bother me for ever
In Dutch, "Flink" means tough
55:40 oh this reminded me of Albert from Spirtifarer 🥹🥹
More sand for my collection
Hahahahaha I love you guys
20:17 it’s true
4:25
Gravity underwater is not les, if anything is more becouse you are deeper down but it's neglectable.
You are more bouyant, or however you spell that thing. Please, English, make yourself a true riten laguage. [And looking at you also, french]
But you do train for 0g underwater. Mostly spacewalk training. But not for the gravity conditions. But for the slugish conditions. There, you cannot gain traction with your feet. You must relay on your suit and your ancors.
0g actual training is done in falling plains. Basicaly a run ofthemill plain with no seats that goes in a vertical wave flight. Faling at 9m/s2. Tada. "no gravity".
Also, to be fair. The ISS "does the same" It is ceartanly within earths noticable gravity. It simply falls to the side faster than down. So it never actually falls down.
Against my better judgment, I've been watching another playthrough of this (because this game is so obviously made for your specific sensibilities that it feels like blasphemy), so I can tell you that there _were_ more monsters on the mountain that heffalump was asking you to scale, but you must have already gotten the rest of them.
The intro better make it to the highlights!
💙
Sorry only works in Dutch Kalverliefde was het wel...
How the heck did you manage to say "V" and "W" at the same time
By watching too many cheesy vampire movies! 😜🧛 And lots of practice. Just swap the v in and out usually sounds about right
@@generrosity no no I mean like, the way he said those words, he didn't stick to the V throughout the entire sound. It sounded like V *and* W
Like VWelcome rather than either Velcome or Welcome
@@Kram1032 I dunno, do you want tips from various folks online to a cheesey moldovian accent? 😜 Yea, you start with the v, and you move your mouth through to w 👌 if you do it slowly and badly enough, it's slides through as "vuwelcome"
