It started with belly issues and dairy for me. Going dairy-free and keeping my belly happier has been a good bit of motivation. I love to cook and have found a lot of dairy-free recipes are also vegan, so that has helped as well. And we moved to an area a few months back where we see cows in the field behind out house every single day, we live around small farms, and I just... I can't watch the documentaries. But I've seen enough on different channels and read in articles to understand the horrible treatment of animals. I'm slowly making changes toward veganism in my own self. I make some vegan dishes for my family, but I won't force them to do it all the time like I want to for myself. This channel helps me so much.
I think its worth a mention that some online vegan communities can be really toxic or judgemental so i think its also really nice to find creators that you look up to as well. I have been following many awesome vegans on UA-cam who seem more realistic than people in my town
Honestly for me, I started being vegan for health reasons. Once I learned all of the other reasons why people go vegan and began watching documentaries and stuff, I witnessed horrible things in dominion. Now the very idea of eating animal products makes me feel sick. I feel like if people think about it like " I'm eating another living being's body parts" or "I'm drinking another mammals breast milk" it will literally make you feel sick. I am so glad I changed! Vegan for life!!!!
I know how you feel! I had almost the same experience..started with health and it became about so much more. I feel you 💯 I talked about it a lot in this video ua-cam.com/video/OnF17fIMQ_g/v-deo.html Sounds like you'll definitely be able to relate 💛
I'm glad you went over the morals and ethics of this topic. It annoys me so much some people supposedly revert back to using animals, claiming their previous state of veganism. No, they were plant-based. People need to distinguish the difference.
I used to think like you Kevin, I was a passionate vegan for 4 years but fell into a deep depression and completely gave it up as I didn't feel a connection to the animals (or anything) any more. It was really strange to feel neutral about such a horrific thing. Now I am living vegan (plant based??) again and have a new perspective on this topic. Always good to be accepting as a vegan to not make people feel alienated!
I am almost 50yrs old and have gone between vegetarian and vegan since I was 19yrs old. I have been fully vegan again for the past 5 years or so. I would crave scrambled eggs, but I have perfected a tofu scramble and I also use Just Egg. I started because a friend's mom had to change her diet for health reasons and my friend was telling me how great she felt. I didn't think I felt bad, but once I cut out animal products, I felt amazing. It is so much easier these days to be vegan than when I was younger. The options are endless! Finding you and the Vegan View a few years back, along with other vegans on IG and UA-cam have kept me motivated. The creativity in cooking and like I said, all the options have kept me going! Even my mother-in-law keeps veggie burgers in her freezer for me! Thank you for your videos and recipes! 💚
6 years ago I went vegan after watching forks over knives. I love animals and that was my first motivation. Climate change and the environment are also important issues. I do get bored as I tend to eat the same thing over and over. Looking forward to making your bread recipe.
This video finally made me get out of bed, i just lost my dog of fifteen years by being hit by a car... I didn't get to say goodbye and feel so guilty even though everyone tells me its not my fault, its just a freak accident... I'm on A vegan diet and no one in my family gets it, i went on this diet in the first place because 1. I love animals and 2. have been trying to get pregnant for 7 years with my conditions.. I haven't gotten out of bed since he passed away on may 3rd so i haven't cooked or really ate because i don't have any microwavable vegan dishes but thanks to your video i just got out of bed to attempt for the first time to cook and clean again so thank you!!!
It really is hard to find vegan friends. I have some vegetarian friends that appreciate my vegan cooking, but even my boyfriend and now my son are not even vegetarian :( I've made a few friends online, but they all live far away! I guess I need to put more effort into finding local vegans. I know they're out there!
This video is fantastic on so many levels. I love the enthusiasm, the insight, the incredible looking focaccia, the Thrive Market products, and how you keep staples that you can turn into meals in moments! Keep at it!
Yours was one of the first vegan youtube channels I found 3 years ago when my journey began. I was having such a hard time figuring out what to eat. It was so overwhelming and I was so hungry lol I started watching your "what I eat in a day" and grocery haul videos and they were so unbelievably helpful. You made it seem so easy and effortless and it was the first time i was like, "yea, I can do this"😊
One day I went to grab food from my favorite vegan cafe (I wasn’t 100% vegan yet though) and noticed they had a newsletter, so i grabbed it to read on a bus on the way home. While i was reading, I couldn’t stop crying. As you can imagine, it was at that moment that I decided, there is no way, I am supporting this cruelty any more. It was a big motivator for me. Thank you Nikki so much for sharing your ideas with us. It certainly helps and keeps us motivated! By the way, if you are interested, i have a small channel myself, I share my recipes :) Thanks again! 🙏👍😊
I really like the social media tip. I definitely use that when I'm feeling isolated and like no one gets it. My biggest motivation is just the food is soooo good and makes me feel good! I have tried many new things since going vegan and I feel bad for my friends and family who are limited in what they eat. They just don't realize what they are missing. Plants are incredible.
I just found you. I have become vegan 7 weeks ago to try and lose some menopausal weight gain. It has been hard the first 3 weeks, my body had to adjust. But I am loving how good I feel. I love your recipes, because I am trying to keep it simple. My family will not change there diet, and I am the cook, but push more fruits and veggies there way. I am gonna keep watching and learning thanks for your help.
This was so helpful!!! I especially liked the tips for having staples on hand for easy meals when you don't have a ton of time. That said, I cannot wait to try the focaccia recipe when I do have some extra time!!! :D
Thanks! I'm glad that tip was helpful for you! Seriously, just having staples on hand is half the battle sometimes. It can be the difference between me taking 10 minutes to make myself a healthy meal or me just eating a whole bag of chips and salsa for dinner lol Being prepared helps a lot! And I think you'll love making focaccia! It was so fun and really relaxing too. Decorating the top is exactly the kind of thing I don't make enough time for but really should because it was a delight. Perfect weekend activity. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
This is a super specific request but I was wondering if you could possibly do a video or talk about how to eat vegan for college students? I'm off to college in the fall and have heard my school doesn't have a ton of vegan options (and I have pretty high standards for my food anyways haha) and won't have access to a kitchen and was wondering if you had any ideas? I'll have a microwave, fridge, and hopefully a toaster oven and will be in New York so I'll eat out a fair amount but will still need to prep some of my own food. No worries too if you don't know! I love this video so much. I was wondering if you would consider doing a video with tips on how to deal with a partner/spouse that is not vegan/vegetarian. It’s hard in my relationship :(
Fantastic video! I’m vegetarian transitioning to a vegan lifestyle and this really was motivating. I live with four meat eaters and sometimes get teased about my eating habits. But I’ve been making some of your recipes lately, and every time I do people drift into the kitchen and say, “What is that? That smells amazing! That looks so good!” And my meal prep for the next few days turns into one family meal (which is a happy thing). Thank you! 💕

Allergic to dairy, gluten, MSG, chemicals, latex, walnuts, lectins (nightshade plants, beans, lentils) soy, tofu, etc!!!!!!!!!!
You ask why some people find it hard to stay vegan the ones that i talk to that have tried and failed and say never again have gone the other extreme the carnivore diet( aka.Keto /Atkins derivative)is saity complaints of always thinking of food because a lack of balance with plant based diet that they practiced. And the other protest that they say its too hard and complicated to eat only whole food plant based diet.I encourage them to look at your channel, because you shown me some fast and satisfying meals,I really like that you are showing that animals are sentient beings as well as showing good products that are there for quick high quality meals,I say Bravo on all counts, you are giving good balance of knowledge, and instructions, and resources .Good job Nikki!!👍❤
Thank you so much! It means a lot that you'd recommend my channel because that's what I'm trying to show...that being vegan can be very practical and doable...and delicious too!
I am not a vegan, I'm just only on a vegan diet. My motivation is an ugly and horrible chronic disease... it helps me to remain on this diet, and to completely avoid all animal junks, and all plant junks ( sugar, white flour, oil, fries etc..)
This video is sooo helpful. I'm transitioning and this is a really beautiful, practical video. Thank you so much 💕 Lots of Love from Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you for making this, and honestly for the refresher too! I started my vegan journey for health reasons almost 5 years ago and now it is most definitely for the animals and the planet!
My motivation is simple. I’m human. What I mean by that is after I learned that humans are not made to eat animal and their byproducts, it seems so weird to eat “food” that makes us sick. And when I learned about the environment and how animals are treated, I just have to be vegan. It took to long to get here, but I’ve been vegan since January. My current living situation is the worst regarding being vegan. My room mate hates vegan just because it’s vegan even though he loves some vegan products. Also, since I live at his place and have a huge tendency to hoard on vegan staples (and never eat it), I only have one shelf for each type of food, frozen, canned, fridge and that sucks. It makes eating primarily WFPB really fricking hard. I can’t wait until I live by myself again in a few years (saving up to buy a place), and when I do leave, I’ll begin my healthy vegan journey. Awesome video yet again. Thank you!
Love your videos 💖 I hate to admit it, but I'm not 100% vegan yet. I'm definitely close, but I have a real issue with vegan cheeses, LOL. For the most part, I just try to stay away from cheese...but on occasion I still eat it. My biggest struggles, like you mentioned...I don't have any local vegan friends and my husband & son definitely aren't vegan. I stopped eating meat about 3 years ago (after doing the keto diet & watching a couple documentaries with my husband...it changed me), but continue to make it for them :( I absolutely hate it, but it was my decision to go plant based, not theirs... hoping one day they'll give it a try. My 15 year old son absolutely hates vegetables though...so I doubt he'll ever go plant based. All I can do it continue to do my best to set a good example and do my part for the animals & our environment 🌱
Omg wow the extra facts that you've added into this are so educational!! Everybody needs to read that fact about the pound of meat and showering. I will never understand people who say that they own pets/love animals, and yet continue to contribute to their unnecessary death by eating them. It makes me so upset seeing comments like "eating a hamburger while watching this" under some videos that are simply educating others about veganism 🤦🏻♂️ Thank you for being such a mindful inspiration for myself and many others! :) I'm thinking of trying your blueberry crumble today ❤️ Thanks a lot, genuinely!
I am vegan for myself. I do not like dairy products and I never liked meat. I am also Not an animal lover as many vegan I meet are. Thus I feel isolated in my own plant-based world.
I am just looking for motivation to learn to cook/bake lol the fear of wasting money & ingredients because I hate the dish keeps me away from cooking haha
I hear that! But honestly not every meal I make is amazing and I think that's so normal! Some attempt are utter flops but I can usually find a way to make it taste ok with some kind of sauce or something. A good tip though is that I only make recipes I've made several times and know I love when I'm entertaining because otherwise its too stressful lol But if it's just me or my close family, it's fun to experiment even if it doesn't turn out perfectly 😊 What have you been cooking or baking recently?
I love this video it is truly wholesome and all in all educating and impactful. Thank you so much for the research, recipes, graphics, tricks, advice, and open-mindedness to all those who are not vegan ✨ What motivates me to stay vegan is people like you, Nicole, along with a bunch of others i subscribe to who not only inspire my vegan lifestyle, but also keep my happy and laughing, in awe of the planet, down to earth, and educated on as many things my mind can handle lol thank you 🥀
I adore Thrive Market, as a Keto omni, they have great things for me. Sadly, though, their own brand is not safe for me as it is not gluten/wheat free. I really wish they would change that.
I’m a new vegan almost 2 months now I gave in to meat and cheese and dairy this week bc it got really hard I would really like to be an sos/nut free vegan due to my digestive issues in the past . Any tips or help ? Motivation?
Hey 😊 I'm not a medical professional so I can't give you any dietary advice but I will say that meat, dairy, and cheese all have oil/fat and salt in them so if you have the option between eating meat or an sos vegan diet (and no other types of a plant based diet like one that's more balanced and does contain a healthy amount of fat and salt) I would say that it's going to be tough. I like to make sure my plate has a good mix or veggies, complex carbs, plant proteins, and fats. I don't shy away from any food group- I eat oil and sugar in moderation - and I eat until I'm truly full. If you're not eating enough, or you don't like what you're eating because it's not well balanced or and not properly seasoned, it might not be satisfying enough for you and your body will start to crave what you used to eat before. I would say try giving a more balanced plant based diet a try and see if it's not easier for you. Again, not medical advice, but I hope that helps!
There are two reasons why I became vegan: because I am a human being and I think killing animals and eating them is very bad. Secondly, I realized that I was endangering my health by eating meat, chicken, fast food, and so on.
Oh...and I forgot to mention the segment about the animals..... Well done. So much would improve if we would stop mindlessly eating animals, and just let them share the planet with us. They have a lot to teach us, but first we should remember that there are so many sources of protein, that eating an animal's muscles is completely unnecessary.
It started with belly issues and dairy for me. Going dairy-free and keeping my belly happier has been a good bit of motivation. I love to cook and have found a lot of dairy-free recipes are also vegan, so that has helped as well.

Thanks for the awesome video 🌱❤️
I adore Thrive Market, as a Keto omni, they have great things for me. Sadly, though, their own brand is not safe for me as it is not gluten/wheat free. I really wish they would change that.
Cannot explain how badly I needed this today ❤❤
What a beautiful video!! Thank you for the great tips 😊
Smart video thank you for this.
There are two reasons why I became vegan: because I am a human being and I think killing animals and eating them is very bad. Secondly, I realized that I was endangering my health by eating meat, chicken, fast food, and so on.
Absolutely amazing advice!
Is there a recipe for your vegan bacon?
Oh...and I forgot to mention the segment about the animals..... Well done. So much would improve if we would stop mindlessly eating animals, and just let them share the planet with us. They have a lot to teach us, but first we should remember that there are so many sources of protein, that eating an animal's muscles is completely unnecessary.
