Kevin Durant agreed to stay with the Brooklyn Nets after months of demanding a trade but reports are saying the Nets tricked KD into staying. The way they did it is genius and this is a look behind the scenes at how Brooklyn pulled off their plan.

I have a different view. I think KD's ego also let him agree to cancel the trade request. Before the request, he had believed that other teams would break the bank to get him, but teams were only offering weak packages to get him, that must have shocked him...

You know, since we’re deep in the off-season, a good subject vid might be another deep dive into the Woj situation, but one thing I haven’t seen (not saying it’s not out there, I’m just saying I haven’t seen it) is an explanation or exploration on exactly who and why at the Worldwide Leader gives Woj that much power to make that call to kill or fill a story. I know there’s been a lot of talk about how tied Woj is these guys, but I think fertile ground would be The Who’s and why’s at how Woj just gets to make that call.

Woj has a "source" within the league... I'm pretty sure it's someone in the league office, fairly high up the corporate ladder, where marketing & parity decisions are made; likely have a hand in who goes where & when, which influences betting odds (real money maker)... In short, Woj is a shill for the league to market storylines that temper consumer perception of talent/ competition & minimize losses for the forces that regulate gambling

They wanted him to commit to coming to basketball and he would not! Thanks for the video. I have watched the HeatCheck video. Woj is not a reporter. He's a talking head for certain teams. It's unfortunate. As a Raptors fan, I was disappointed when he said the Raptors were "lurking" in the background in the KD trade scenarios. The NBA is an association of 30 NBA teams competing for a prize. Each team should get fair and unbiased media coverage. As a Raptors fan, we don't get that (and I'm aware that many small market teams don't get that either). ESPN/Disney exposed itself as over the last season or two as simply a PR partner for the NBA, and has lost all meaningful credibility as a "news" outlet (check out the Woj contract!), and these guys are stepping up to fill the void with a broader view of the whole picture. Joe Tsai is a petty child. Not letting kyrie play road games b/c he didn't want to inject an experimental drug into his body(wasn't officially a vaccine according to the FDA at the time) is akin to giving someone the silent treatment until you get what you want. It's emotional Bullying and emotional manipulation. He didn't get his way so he's trying to "punish" kyrie by not giving him an extension. Kyrie should play his butt off and then walk in free agency no sign and trade no extra assets for the Nets. Kyrie is an asset and a brand unto himself so is every other NBA player(they also provide for their families). If injecting something could compromise that, then it's prudent to be cautious (see Brandon Goodwin and his blood clots). No Matter how the Nets try to dress it up it was and is subliminal corporate manipulation and Bullying.

In the end, they knew KD wasn’t going to sit out. KD isn’t about strip clubs, or, sitting at home on Xbox, or out around town chillin. They know KD only hoops and it’s the most important thing in his life. Guys like Anthony Davis can sit out 30+ games with the pelicans and force the franchises hand. Guys like Harden can sit out, get fat, and render himself useless if he wanted too. Those guys got leverage. KD is all about basketball, they knew if he could play he would so they never got desperate to unload him. It’s not like KD was sitting in a cafe in Paris enjoying life, he was constantly hooping and he can’t keep away from basketball. The gym, the owner, Nash…. They knew he had no hand to bluff so they called his bluff.

Interesting vid! Loved it until the Steve Nash bashing (in relation to his coaching abilities). Of course KD and Kyrie think they're the boss. Kyrie saw LeBron subvert his coaches (always has) and KD spent all of his time at OKC with "whatever KD and Russ" want coaches. Steve Nash knows basketball at a level that is elite even for nba all stars. He's good at public communications and he's PC (for what that's worth). I do like the take that the Nets could win a title. Simmons and Claxton could be good at center. Simmons won't need to spend all of his time there, and centers can/do have a lot to do with team offense in some scenarios. Having Joe Harris back and the whole team being there from beginning to end will be huge. Still, I'm not picking them to win the whole thing either, it will be competitive, at least until some major injuries have their say in that.

  • @Dnero518

The Nets roster is really good but it's definitely not gonna be an easy job cause personally I would want Simmons being the main facilitator but how does Kyrie react to that 🤔 not good I would think. So somehow the coach has to convince them to run an offense without a primary initiator so that Simmons can get as many possessions starting with the ball to make the game easier for everyone else especially all the guys that aren't Kyrie and KD. Needs to be done in a way so Kyrie and Kd still get plenty of touches and feel like they can still get the ball when they really want but idk if Kyrie will be happy regardless if they tell him Ben is the point guard. Nash will probably just fold and end up having Simmons be just the defensive stopper and Kyrie run point even though Ben has way better vision and passing than Kyrie and Nash knows it. I wouldn't want him being the starting center either cause I'd have Claxton or whoever to guard the big men so Ben will be free to guard whoever the best scorer is, have Ben at the pf in name only and KD at the 3 but KD could always guard the other teams 4 or 3 depending who they'd need Ben to guard each night.
Basically Nash needs to convince them all that their positions don't matter and they'll be playing positionless as a team so Ben can be utilized to his highest potential on both sides of the ball. If Simmons can be unlocked and get his confidence back and Kyrie decides he actually wants to play every game or try to they'll be extremely dangerous. I'm a Knicks fan though so really I hope they crash and burn but I think Simmons can be one of the greatest players ever so itd be cool to see him fulfill his potential as a Magic Johnson like facilitator who defends like Rodman mixed with Kawhi. Kyrie and KD are already two of the best scorers ever so as long as there healthy they'll do their thing.

Who is your inside Nets source to say that they intentionally played KD? Outside sources are just speculations based on beliefs in their head. Yo. The GMs outside feel that way? Maybe because Nets felt their offers were not equal to KD value meaning they would be worse off after the trade which is likely true. So from what I see they kept it out there waiting for the best offer and when it got close to the start of the preseason they basically said “we need to move on” so they can make other roster moves and set up a meeting with KD. KD came and listened and agreed to satay at least for this year. Nets knew he was not going to sit at turning 34 on a 4 year deal that just started. Simmons also will be smart to just play and now as you said he doesn’t need to shoot threes he can just be what made him great.

"Ruining his career?!" The only player in NBA history who will finish with more career earnings than Kevin Durant is LeBron James. Durant also has two rings, a league MVP, and if Ben Simmons just plays the way the way he usually does, KD has a Big Three for the third year in a row in Brooklyn.
Don't forget they still have two of the best perimeter shooters in the league with Joe Harris and Seth Curry. The Nets didn't fcuk around in the off-season, either, signing Royce O'Neal and T.J. Warren.

Kevin Durant wanted to go to New York Knicks Kyrie wanted to go to Brooklyn Kevin Durant followed Kyrie then Kyrie quit on him.
The reason why KD wants the general manager and the coach fired is because if Kyrie and Ben Simmons are not going to play he needs a roster built around him not a scoring point guard and he needs a coach who can compete because he has no talent if Ben Simmons and Kyrie don't play...
Kevin Durant is trapped from not taking control of his situation and following other people

I actually agree with your assessment and now perhaps you can understand why the players show no loyalty to a franchise because it is business. So when a player acts in his own best interest owners really have no beef. Players can contribute to the success of a team but then have to leave that team because of salary caps. Payton Jr. Is a good example. Last year the Lakers would not be able to pay Caruso so he ended up in Chicago. The next agreement is not going to be signed right away because the owners will be trying to strip away any leverage the players might have.
