A big part of our hobby is sentiment about our childhoods so I get it totally. My Dad lived with me at the end of his 96 years and drove me nuts, but I'm glad I had his last years with him. He was with the BPF on the Unicorn and absolutly loved the Aussie's during the war ...so of course has caused a soft spot for you and Australia. Here's to Dads .👍👍👍👍👍
Very sorry to hear about your dad Harry.....I look forward to seeing this kit come together....please take care and time for yourself.....all the best mate....cheers to happier times....Dave in wodonga
Nice one Harry. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, however, I hope that this build gives you comfort. I look forward to the future episodes of this lovely tribute build... :-)
@@HarryHoudiniModels I think something go lost in the translation from American, to English to Australian. We were sending best wishes, love, respect and support! Thank you for keeping up the great job. A+++++
Hi Harry, I'm very sorry for your loss. This is a nice ship, the assembly will be great to watch and it, perhaps, will bring you some kind of closure, life is not simple and no one is perfect, there is some things that I'm not too proud about. 💖
Hey Harry, condolences from across the pond about your Dad passing, expected or not, it still doesn't make it any easier. Just keep remembering the good things about your Dad, those are the treasured ones. Building this kit for you I see as a form of healing for you. Enough of this sentimental stuff, lol, keep knocking out those videos when you feel up to it again, love listening to your "waffles", and the tips and tricks you give. Cheers bud.
Condolences Harry. A very fitting tribute to Your father and yourself. Totally get where you are coming from regards to this kit resonating with you and the fact that you want to really upgrade this and push the Boundaries with it. My Father as well got me into building plastic model ships since he was in the Merchant Navy. Time will heal mate, some longer than others, good and bad memories, we all go through it at some stage myself included having lost my father and mother some years ago now. Take care Harry will be watching your build with enthusiasm. All the best Rob👍🍻
I am so sorry for your loss. However expected it is a psychological shock, so do look after yourself. I do like the idea behind this build and hope it is a reminder of happy times.
A tuff loss, Harry and one most of us will experience at some point. The closer a relationship we have with our Fathers the more difficult their loss is to bare. But in any event, birth and death is just how it is for us all here on planet Earth.
Sorry to hear of your loss. Even if it wasn't unexpected it still hurts. My father-in-law served on the Warspite whilst she was being repaired in the USA and have always wanted to build a kit of it.
Thank you for your story… there are some newer and larger Warspite kits which are so much better. But this was the first ship kit my father ever bought me, so has that peesonal significance.
1/600 Warspite was the beginning for me. Bought the kit in the early 80s at a yard sale for $1. 40 years later, I build more ships than any other type.
Hi Harry. Just want to give you my heart felt condolences mate. Loss is never easy. This build will mean a lot to you. Take care. Remember the hood and appreciate the bad. Much love mate. Take care of yourself my friend.
Hi Harry , condolences mate ! Have no words but totally understand this build , wood veneers, done 2 , don't know if I like them ! Still prefer painting them and a wash , will been keen to see your magic😊😊😊😊😊 take care mate and have a good one
Thanks Frenchy… I like the wood veneer because it saves me detail painting the deck greebles and bulkheads… airbrush it all grey, slap down the wood veneer, and all edges are sharp and perfect. But I will do my tricks for plank enhancement on the wood to make it look less boringly uniform.
Very sorry to hear about your loss Harry. My dad also died this year and I've got the same type of thing in my mind of the first build I did for him, he proudly had it on his desk at work until he retired but can't remember what happened to it. So I really understand what you say and feel. Good luck with the warspite, she was one ship that refused to go quietly and should have been made into a floating museum. Thinking of you. Phil (ivordunnitagain)
Harry condolences on your loss. You took me back many years when you reminded me of the models kits in bags. I delivered papers and prescriptions for the chemist to save for them. I think we only bought WW2 planes to battle each other with.
Hi Harry it must be hard for you at the moment you will see him again in heaven my first kit which my dad bought me and made with me was airfix Russian warship mosko I’ve tried to buy it again but can’t find one very good vid brings back my memories as well good old airfix👍
So sorry to hear about your pathers passing, unfortunately its a fact of life and that is how I deal with death. Actually I get more emotional when I lose a pet now go figure another thing that eases the pain is to know they aren't suffering anymore. Looking forward to your tribute build!
Brought back memories of my father. I do miss him. Very sorry Harry. God Bless. Radio man in a B-17 the "The Searchen Virgin" have pictures of him and his aircraft. Anyway took awhile to post. Sorry.
Sorry for your loss Harry, my Dad passed 6 yrs ago, he also got me into kit building just over 50 years ago, told me it would teach me patience, but a few kits in that time have ended up in the bin.
My Dad was a perfectionist and would criticise every one of my builds. Probably why I now wage war against the rivet counters, but privately put so much detail and research into my model builds.
I thought of that, but this is my build for my dad.. so something away from doing the other sub / Patreon requests. It will help me remember the good times I shared with my father.
So sorry to hear. I lost my father 2015 after a month in a coma. One kit I remember building with him was the monogram F4u corsair. I think it was around a 1/32 scale since I remember it was big to a six year old and it had wings could fold up and down to a fix position. Hadn’t thought about in a long time until I saw your video now I think I’ll be on a little hunt again thank you for your video
I’m currently building Academy’s 1:350 premium kit, and I’ve been sitting on this kit since 2015-16 ish. Now that I have all the tooling especially for pe, I now focus on this kit when I have the time on weekends.
Sorry for your loss, my step dad got me into the hobby and my first truck was his old 1979 Ford f-100 one day I want to get another one and build it as a tribute to him.
Hi Harry sorry to hear about your dad, just getting back into modelling, building up a stash and getting a decent tool kit together but taking time, enjoy your videos.
Hi Harry. Sorry to hear about your father, but I think what you're doing with the Warspite is a good thing. If I may ask, what did you use to dissolve the glue on the rebuild? Regards, Rob Ferguson
Just some windex and soapy water for the most part, however any stubborn bits had their joins loosened with a little Tamiya Thin, then wriggled apart. I also hear acetone, nail varnish remover, also works. However if the join had slathers of cement so the plastic was fully welded, then you’ll need to cut or saw the parts from each other.
Hi Harry so sorry to here about your loss as a funeral director since I was 15 when I use to inter a loved one a poem I use to say. When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room why cry for a soul set free miss me a little but not for long and not with your head bowed low remember the love that once we shared miss me but let me go for this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone it’s all part of the master plan a step on the road to home so when you are lonely and sick at heart go to the friends we know laugh at all the things we used to do miss me but let me go
