Great video Andy. I've been using that beer sieve for a few weeks now and I have to say, it has collected quite a few fines. I have drilled holes at the top and put a string so I can pull the sieve out easily. Big kiss on the nose to Bizley
Thanks Lau, thought I'd give it a try as you say surprised how good its doin, Bizley sends back huge licky face 🐶😘
Another brilliant video, thanks for all your help with my new pond Andy
Thanks, and you're very welcome 👍
Bought a beer seive off the strength of your video. Bloody brilliant idea. Finding it's collecting most muck after the cleaning session on my easypod.
That's great mate, really pleased with mine, but I might try and make it fit better. Thanks for letting me know 👍
Great video Andy, always a pleasure to watch
Thanks Mary 👍
Nice update Andy your pond and fish are looking brilliant think a lot of people are using those beer Stay safe hugs to Biz
Thanks Carol, yes it seems a lot are using the beer sieve, I'm late to the table again as usual 😬, biz said 😘
Bought a beer sieve, fantastic improvement with in 48 hrs . Great tip thanks Andy 👍
Your welcome mate, Im really pleased with mine. Stay safe
Jobs a Goodun 👍
Great idea with the sieve, be interesting to see what it collects. Great information as always
Thanks mate, it's doing a good job so far 👍
Hi Andy, another great video mate. I'm lucky, I don't get them in my filter house, as they all get caught in my sieve filter. Some mornings when I take the top of, there's a big black cloud of them. That looks a good mod on the pod mate. It all helps. Take care and stay safe, Terry.
Cheers Terry, was hoping the new clay might help but not to be, really pleased with the beer sieve, maybe evolution aqua should look at its potential
That's a great idea Andy, I will get one of those sieves, another great video mate, I will be uploading another one over the weekend, stay safe mate.
Cheers Dave, I'll keep an eye out for your video, have a great weekend and stay safe 👍
Andy mate I had the same problem with trying to find pre mixed mortar all the usual trade places sold out went into homebase for something completely different and they had pallets full of it give it a try 👍👍👍
Oh and watching you sprinkle that grass seed had me 🤣🤣🤣 reminded me of the shack n vac advert from the 80s 😂😂😂
Cheers mate, finally got some today, I'm too young to remember that advert... honest... but it did put the freshness back 😬
@@DerbyKoi young my arse 😂😂😂😂👌

@@DerbyKoi 🤣🤣😂😂😂👍👍👍
Great mod mate , damn flies lol 😂
Glad you enjoyed your trip 👍🏼
Cheers mate, stay safe

Hi Andy I can't believe how much crap your upflow filter is catching 👏 and rather than grass seed i think gravel and roses would look great in a cottage garden 👍👍👍
Cheers pal, I'm so impressed with the new filter, and maintenance is a doddle, I might have plans next year for that seeded area, which is why I haven't done much too it and the seed was free. Have a great weekend, and stop fighting lol
@@DerbyKoi cheers mate it's all fun and games 👍👍👍
Seen people trying the beer sieve in the pods and it looks like it works and helps out some are fitting a pot to the top of it so it takes up the entire flow I can see what's going to happen doing that at some point as can you. Have a good weekend mate
Cheers Martyn, yes I've seen the pot and even the funnel idea, and it's been suggested in the comments but I have the same concerns that you have. Stay safe mate
Nice one mate that beer sieve should help out with fines . I'm getting so many flys this year it's unreal 👍
Cheers leon, there a bloomin nuisance, I've got a few ideas, just need to get approval from nato and build a bunker first 😬
@@DerbyKoi 🤣 lmao can't wait to see your new idea 👌👍
😬👍
Nice one Andy great mod might see if can get one that fits the nexus , fok is obviously not cutting the flys down which is a shame , nice upload mate give Bizley a belly rub from me 👍👍😀
Cheers mate, I believe they do different sizes, yeah looks like the fok hasn't worked for me, I think it might be my filtration system which I'll explain this fri, still need to watch your latest, I'm so behind on my videos, I need a 40hr day lol
@@DerbyKoi you and me both , work is just crazy at the moment and the mrs want the house decorating again 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Lol, I feel ya pain
Hi Andy matey 👋🏼, great video.
Take a look at trans k9 they are based in Scotland and a much better solution to transporting your fury friends than destroying your car, we have they in our cars.
If i can find a link i will send it to you.
Take care 🙂
Thanks Tom, if that the crate type that goes in the boot, we had one. He hated it and so did we, with the back seat type we use there has been no damage to the car thankfully, and we really like having him just behind us. Plus hes good at map reading 😂. Thanks for your suggestion mate, much appreciated 👍
@@DerbyKoi I have to rely on Sat nav as our two only lead us to food if they are navigating 🤣
😂🐶
With my brewer sieve I've drilled two holes near the top and put some wire through to make it easier to oull out. It does catch a lot of fines and I clean it every other day, just blast it with the hose.
Thanks bob, I'm surprised what its catching, thanks for the tip, stay safe

Hi mate. Top videos. Your diy tempest looks amazing. Where did you get you clear pipe from
Thanks matt, I got it from here mate.

Thankyou very much. Im based in borrowash derby. It would be appreciated if i could pop over to have a look at some point.
Going on this video im assuming you got the cement. Im a plumber who does groundwork. If yiu need anything just ask
@@mattladbrooke3239 Hi Matt when the season starts and were finally getting some warmth again i will be doing some pond visits remind me around may and we'll sort something out Andy👍
@@mattladbrooke3239 cheer mate appreciate that
Hi pal I have the eazy pod setup on pump fed it's running from bottom drain up into eazy pod down to uv then I to a barrel and return to pond it only runs on 15 % before overflowing can I do anything different
Hi Tommy, without knowing your setup, it sounds like the return pipe is not a big enough diameter or maybe a blockage as you have a barrel after the pod maybe you could add another return to it for extra flow. Andy
The flies lay eggs on the edge of the pond, these hatch into a tiny leach like larvae, they stick themselves into areas of high flow, then hatch and come out through filters etc.Carry on tipping waste water on plants, they are not in the water. My filter house is rammed with spiders feasting on the hatched bugs..
Sorry for the late reply, UA-cam had withheld this comment 🤬
Thanks for your information it's much appreciated 👍
I added bakki media in my beer filter....
I added a yogurt pot to the top of mine so all water goes down the beer filter. I just cut a piece out so it over lapped and then its a tight fit and the lip of the yogurt pot sits right on the grey pipe of the pod.
Yes mate I've seen the different ideas with plant pots, yogurt pots, funnels etc, I'm concerned about the sieve blocking and overflowing, I assume you haven't had any issues?
@@DerbyKoi Not as of yet i just clean it when i get up and when i get back from work. There is a chance but the way my system is plumbed i wouldnt loose more than a couple of inch of water anyhow even if it did overflow.
Thanks for the info, I may try it, but still have concerns, sometimes I'm away for work, I have a float switch but I'd lose several inches of water and some filtration.
What you need to control the flies are a few trained spiders that will build webs around your filters when needed although that might get a bit awkward for you when it's filter cleaning time...lol. I'm sure you'll figure out some fly control measures soon. Hugs to Bizley. Cheers.
SPIDERS... Had one at the last property that's why I sold up and left 😂 I'm training Bizley at the moment how to use a fly swat 😬
@@DerbyKoi Now that would make a great video 😂
@@mykoiobsession lol
Is your filter gravity fed ?
No mate, It's pump fed 👍🏻
🙈🙈🙈 did you say you have just returned from Wales ? I have 9 sacks of cement spare in my garage , you could of grabbed some 🤣x👍
Grrrrr..... lol. I have managed to get some now, but thanks for the offer sandy, I really appreciate it. Stay safe and thanks again 👍
Like the sieve idea might give it a whirl
Now then Andy when you put the FOK in your pond and cleaned the shaker bottle out did you see what your big girl did
I do recall koi pond lifestyle saying when he put it in his fish seem to do the same
Have a look back and see if know what I mean
Hi Kevin, yes mate, I noticed Henrietta sort of flash when I was editing the video, I think its because the fok clay is much grainier (,is that a word 🤔) and seems to stay suspended in the water longer. Seen the sieve idea on a forum and thought I'd try it. 😊
@@DerbyKoi
Like your videos a lot Duck
In the process of doing a new pond and you’ve given me some ideas
Keep them coming 👍
Cheers Kevin, I appreciate that mate, your welcome to send me some pics when you've finished, have a great weekend

Hi will this beer sieve fit in to a nexus 200 .. and do u have a link for it pls
I dont know the diameter of the nexus 200 return pipe, your best bet is to measure it and search for one that fits, the link I have wont help you as it will probably be the wrong size, you can find them on Amazon and Ebay
@@DerbyKoi thank you
Great video can you buy the sieve online?
Yes mate, theres a link in the description 👍
Hi can you tell were you got your beer sieve from and how much.
Hi Keith, the link is in the description mate 👍
If you want to catch loads of fines use a 100 micron filter sock you will have to clean it daily but it will catch loads I used one in my easy pod before I got my drum .
Cheers mate, I did try the 100 micron but as you say it needed cleaning daily sometimes twice. Thanks for your advice, have a great weekend 👍
Were can I purchase the sock please?
I got my sock on ebay
Intriguing fly/clay experiment. Your drain isn't in the filter house, is it? Just wondering if the flies are coming out of your drain too.
I've checked the drain out and nothing is in there, but thanks for the help. I think there in the filter pipework, not too helpful the clay will help. Have a great weekend stay safe mate 👍
