To be able to face your traumas, including the ones you perpetrated, to accept with open, grieving eyes that you have, in fact, "stepped on" what you love most, yes, absolutely. This has great grace and power in life. And to accept that perhaps, in that threatened moment with the persecutor, you might be too afraid to refuse, and step on the image--absolutely. But to say, "What's the big deal? Just step on it!" I repeat--nobody I know. They would still be able to tell by your manner that you were, in fact, a Christian.

No Western Christian that I know would step on it! I find that shocking to even think that anyone would.
