- Another dynamite song from Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, "performed" by the fabricated band the Carrie Nation. Even though these chicks are faking it in a big way, they nail it. It looks great and I still say they're better than Nickelback.
Stu Philips wrote some incredible songs for this movie, it should have been as big as Rocky Horror, I saw it when I was 14, i don,t know how I got in but I did and I ended up seeing it 6 times before it closed. I now own the dvd which I thought I never would. Imagine Roger Ebert and Russ Meyer making this! It,s the first of what I consider to be cult movie that I had ever seen. It,s right up there with Phantom of the Paradise and The Rocky Horror Picture show! Bravo!
This is my joint! When I hear it , Im reminded of the early to mid 70s when people were trying to connect with each other more.
A real treasure of a song to find in that film. Amazing goddess bassist. Just a bit unsettled by the invisible brass and string section
Guess you never saw an Elvis movie! My Mom told me the band was on the side out of camera view. I think my 6 year old view of the world bought that explanation. Agree with the “treasure” comment.
Twin peaks and this film?! You are my best friend now lol
Shut up fool
Harris and Z-Man are just staring at each other like they’re about to kill each other XD
Excellent'e Banda con las muchachas cantante rock y roll Este groupo be bonita en Mexico
Insanely camp from beginning to end. Beautiful ❤️
Happy to see the video clip from the Russ Meryers on screen romp. I always loved this song, it's too bad there aren't more like it today. I have another version of " In The Long Run" by the Carrie Nations but the timing and phrasing are slightly different that what is seen and heard in the video. Between the two I think I prefer the video track better. IT IS A KILLER SONG! Thanks for sharing! Sad to think most people will never find it... but I did. :)
Two words: Beautiful movie.
You'll be Superstars!
This is like the Adult Version of Josie and the Pussycats. lol
Cynthia Meyers born 12/15/50 passed away on 11/4/2011 was one of the most beautiful actresses of the early 1970's....Russ Meyer knew how to cast beautiful women for his movies. This movie however was a little different than most of his lower budget movies...This movie had 20th Century dollars to back it up...A great cast with plenty of action, hooters and some great music too...thanks Russ....Russ Meyer 1922-2004
She was a beautiful woman and beautiful actress 🕊💗🤎💙🤍💜🖤💛🧡❤💚🙏😇
Although the music was terrific this move itself made me feel dizzy. There was a decapitation, a gunshot inside a chicks mouth and a scene straight outta The Crying Game.
zman is so proud , of course
SO EXCITING!
Whoa,yesssss 🎉
Love Lynne Carey (daughter of MacDonald Carey) singing the lead while Dolly lip synchs!
I'd love to hear a band come up with a song like this today. Fantastic!
I guess The Raveonettes was the closest thing we got so far in the 2000s.
@jiantfirestarter -I agree. Don't let anyone take away your small pleasures.
I love how the drummer doesnt even sing into a microphone..
god i wish this band was actually real (esp CASEY)
@charles121251 -Yeaaaaaah..
The Carrie Nations. What a great pre-feminist name. I’m surprised that after all these years, I have yet to see someone draw the connection between the actual voice of the group, Lyn “Cary” and the name of the group, “Carrie” Nations. Cary-Carrie. LOL. I wonder if this a coincidence????
Great song but slightly prefer the album version with the raw vocals.
@phonejunky1 right on,brother. the men who love Cynthia are
legion, and transcend generations.... thank russ & Hef for that
what a woman, what an angel!!
The music transcends this terrible film
