@Tankenstein the difference between the stock and spaded M48 is insane tbh. It's kind of ridiculous how awful a lot of stock vehicles are at high tiers
the 9.3 line up of Germany one of the most potent in the battlefield, you had L44, 1A5, M48 Super, Begleitpanzer, KPZ-70, T-72M1. It's a lot of fun playing this BR, sadly not very fun when you get matched with German and USSR team tho.
That thing was an absolute surprise to me too. Expected M60A3 TTS/CM11 awfulness but the upgraded engine really brings the whole thing into M60 AMBT goodness territorry.
The M60 series, for me, was just about the worst stock syndrome I've ever experienced in war thunder. The sheer difference in performance after you unlock the rounds that do damage and get all of the mobility upgrades is nuts.

It was only now that I realized you actually do play the vehicle from stock to spaded. Across days or even weeks of playing. I always was under the assumption that you unlock it first then do one match with mods uninstalled, then half installed, then spaded. It wasn’t until. The desert battle that you posted the mods sheet and before that map got murdered by the redesign. Props to you m8.
I recommend checking out the Olifant Mk.2 at 9.3 for the UK. It is very similar to this vehicle in that it's a super-modernized version of an older tank, but it's one of the best ones imo. It even gets gen 2 thermals and CITV
This is such a strange and retro-ish looking futuristic looking tank, kinda like how the Conqueror looks with its add on armour. I’m not a German main but this will probably be the tank I want to work towards in that tree.

i think in the stock to spaded series you should full research level 1 and 2 in the halfway spaded section, i think this is a fairer representation of the vehicle as with this one you have no performance upgrades in the half way
Eh I'm not so sure about that. My usual path is: Repairs, Better round/Fire system, Thermals/LRF, Filters, then crew. I'd consider that the halfway point considering just how much there is to research in higher tier vehicles
Could you try out the Challenger 1 MK3? It’s quite a heavy MBT (65 tons of tea and crumpets) but the gun and armour are very good, especially with L26 at 10.3
What I don’t understand is how they justify this and the t72m1 being at the same br….. cause one of these is substantially better in most gameplay scenarios. (It’s not the m48)
Nah the T72m1 has much worse mobility, no thermal, worse zoom, worse cannon depression, worse turret traverse speed, and frankly worse survivability. The only thing the t72m1 has better than the m48 is the armour, and in this BR range armour is not that important as experienced players know your weak spots.
M48 Super is a surprisingly pleasant tank to play. Very nimble and good firepower. The funky turret will also save you from some shots you wouldn't expect. I'd highly recommend grabbing it for your lineup.
Hey Tankenstein, I have a question, Which German tank for 9.3 is the best choice? I care primarily about survivability and firepower, so the Leopard A1A5 is probably out of the question. I was thinking about T-72M1 or KPZ-70, but the second one has a rather weak APFSDS, so I don't really know. This M48 Super also looks quite interesting.
The T72 behind you wasnt trying to give away your position, he was trying to show you that there was an enemy behind rocks in sligth front/to the side of you. hes machine guns in this case wouldnt even give you away. I think your smoking crack, also the m48super is by far worse than leopard 1a5, since speed usually triumpfs armor in high br matches, especially if your a skilled player. Mobillitys strength scales hard with player skill and map knowlage @aka one of the reasons italian wheelies are doing so well stat whise in the game. Also M48super and tanks that are similar too it, has issues, they are large silouettes giving them away, + too slow for not having effective armor vs ANYTHING but HE/Heat/rockets and bombs, and even that is only if your lucky or your enemy sucks. Imo not an optimal skilled player review of this tank.

I've done it twice for the US and German trees and it was torture. Skipped the chinese and Israel versions.

It turns on its tracks really well which is nice. Good gun too, but there certainly are negatives

Stock to spaded for the VCC-30?, its foldered with the dardo and its basically a dardo with a 30mm bushmaster
I have the C2A1 MEXAS, never played the leo 1a5 and the M48 Super.
I like the m48 and m60s they have their pros they are like the underdogs who weren’t privileged and rely on skill

They are fantastic basically a T-72 Ural with much superior optics and turret traverse/gun elevation.
