Great series Arry always been a fan of the 2500S having spent many hours in one my Uncle bought brand new in 78 so it is good to see yours getting a new lease of life. I am also a fan of Assembly Lube when fitting the buckets and pushrods plus a coating on the cam just prevents that metal to metal contact for that vital first few mins nice work though.
Brilliant to watch, let's see a bit of the pushrods going in please and the rocker shaft going back on. Did you get the Stromberg carburettors reconditioned? Lovely project though.
Beautiful. We had to drive 25 miles to Mallacoota using a piece of 2x4 as an engine mount on our TC after one collapsed. They're primitive engines, which is as it should be. Working in this heat will give you an insight into what it was like in Australia @-)
I had a stag, and also a triumph 2500pi saloon. Don't know if the stag suffered from the same problem, bottom end rattle on start. I was told it was because of there being no oil in the filter, a kit could be bought to cure problem.nust my memories of great cars .good luck, enjoying your show .
Thanks Paul - yes, I think you're right.. I have heard of a valve/rubber one way seal that keeps oil in the filter after the engine is turned off! Appreciate your support and thanks for posting! All the best TR T
Torquing the cyl head should be done in 3 stages, for example if specified torque is 108lbft then first torque to about 60lbft then 90lbft and finally 108lbft
Hopefully you’ll get away with it but those cam followers should have been coated in engine oil or reassembly oil (thick). WD40 isn’t oil it’s technically a water dispersant. Perhaps pour plenty of oil down the guide holes, remembering the followers are buckets, you want to overfill the buckets so the oil can run down, there is no dedicated oil feed to this part of the engine. Also before running the engine it is a good idea to run the oil pump using an electric drill on the distributor drive so you can fill all the oil lines ahead of spinning the engine over. Good luck 🤞
