I remember Qbert talking about this battle and being so angry at David and all his body tricks, also calling the whole crossfader ballet as cheating. Now I see and hear this routine and find it very very interesting and experimental. The warped and downpitching sound at 04:12 is probably unintentional but it's fitting!

Sure DJ David’s technical ability may quite not be your thing, but it sure was something completely exciting and new for everybody from that time period (besides, who else have you seen pull off a b-boy move on the turntable?)

I loved dj david in 91. How fitting that this would be the last time speed and body tricks would win a world chip. It was the end of a era. Steve dee and qbert moved the art (dmc) from this to beat juggling advanced scratching etc. But david ended the era with a bang

Q-bert took the game to another level from Cash Money, and it needed something special to beat him. Well. Spinning around on the tables did it. Best single move in DMC history. If not for that move David would have been second.

This was a really weird winner. But faster and crazier meant better back in those days...up until around 95 with Roc Raida, who took the Cash Money style but advanced it. I love A-Trak and still do - but his 97 winning set was arguably less technical than Roc Raida's 96 set. Probably tighter though. Craze was a game changer in 98 and 99. That's when it all ended in my opinion.

No one, no matter what age you can hold a candle. I`ve both been there 2times LiVE, once seen in LONDON & in GERMANY. Incredible what the two, especially his daughter delivers..!!!
