  • And now for something completely different! My sister and I decided to do something out of the ordinary and film a vlog. We visited a dead mall in Lewisville, TX inappropriately named the Vista Ridge Mall (now renamed Music City Mall, another terrible name). We had a great time and it's one of my absolute favorite videos I have ever done. Come join me while we journey through this trainwreck mall. I hope you enjoy!

The Sears in my local mall is always packed and their in-store stuff is good, but their out-of-store service is absolute shit. When my parents ordered a new washer for delivery a couple years ago, they forgot not one, but TWO parts for it, so they had to come two other times to bring them. How annoying.
Also PeanutButterGamer would not approve of you punching Arthur. XD

This entire mall just gave me an empty and emotional feeling on how poorly soulless the store outlets remained. I’m sorry to see your sister touched an old dusty package earlier in the video, these guys at Sears are so unsanitary. Great job on this video, you guys!

Stevie Cezar That’s what I would do too! Even at places that I visited that are like that, I would use hand sanitizer to restrain from touching dusty packages. Perhaps rubber gloves would be better to wear next time.

Sears can't survive because the evil Eddie Lampert has been intentionally wrecking the company from the inside for years. And yet, Sears won't remove him. I have little sympathy for them.

A little late here, but still.
When I was younger my parents would always go to the Enfield Square Mall in Enfield, CT. It's a very small mall, only one floor, a Target, a Sears (that isn't even there anymore), Macy's, that's about it for anchor stores. It was always booming with people in the late 2000s. Small booths everywhere for products, a lot of stuff for what made up for a lack of food court...it was actually a pleasing place to go to.
My mom, me, and my brother went a few months ago and we were the only people there.
Now, our current local mall (some distance away) is the Buckland Hills Mall, in Manchester, CT. People actually go to this place, it's freaking crazy. Two or three years from now, it will go under as well if it happens to follow the footsteps of Enfield Square. But why should I complain? Online shopping is taking hold and getting rid of retail as we know it. That's not a bad thing, but there's nothing like going somewhere and actually getting to exist next to the product you're purchasing. If only people didn't get so lazy...

Interesting story bro! I used to go to a dead mall with my mother called the Six Flags Mall. There was nobody there and it had only one anchor store. Last year it got demolished.

Going to a mall is my personal way to unwind. My favorite is North Park Center by 635 in Dallas,TX. In my opinion, Its where folks in Highland Park and University Place spend their money. ( Highland Park,University Place m,two areas in Dallas that have very great wealth) I know alot of items in North Park Center are expensive but it is the best mall (in my mind only😊)
The Vista Ridge Mall, back in 1993 i walked at a place ( that will sound ancient) "Tilt" the store was a arcade game place upstairs. I still remember my old boss. Her name was Mary. I had a big crush on her. She made it fun. There was a candy store upstairs in Vista Ridge and my motherfigure Joanne worked there. She was awesome lady😊😍😘. Well great vid my fine sir and young lady.

There's also a dead mall in Kingston, NY which is the Hudson Valley Mall. There were plenty of stores, except Target and Best Buy, and Sears is still open, and the rest of the stores are dead, but they got plastered with walls. There were a few good stores like FYE, GameStop, Hot Topic, Shoe Dept., H&M, Victoria's Secret, Regal Cinemas where you go see a movie, and others still remains. The rest are closed like JCPenny and Macy's. I remember Radio Shack, Payless, The Wall, Kmart, and so many stores. Those were great times. The Hudson Valley Mall was great, but now, it's a dead mall.
UPDATE: Sears is closing down at the Hudson Valley Mall. That's sad. Sears was the best store I been to. I went to Sears one last time and I checked that many of them are completely empty. That's a shame.
I also went to Brooklyn (my hometown) while I'm on vacation with my parents while they were away that many of the stores are still open in the downtown section, I don't see them closing. And then, my mother and I walked around Court Street and I see many of the stores has changed overtime. As of now, Downtown Brooklyn now added new skyscrapers including too many high rise building like apartments and hotels replacing the abandoned buildings that has been stood for decades. The city has changed, and everything has changed. I missed the old Brooklyn. I remember when I was a youngster when buildings were small, but now it's completely different, but not the same anymore. Carroll Gardens and Cobble Hill has good stores, but now, it's somewhat different with an addition to antique stores, thrift stores, and more. Everything in Brooklyn is too many stores to shop, just like an endless mall. Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn is an outdoor mall. We used to go there when I was little. I used to go to the Wiz, Woolworth's, and others. Those were great stores at the time.

My family loves going to the “Korean Sears.” That’s what we call it. Basically a company called Zion Market opened up a location in that very Sears. It’s like a mini mall inside a mall. Vista Ridges hours are a total joke, like 12-7, even during the holidays. But the Korean Sears stays open longer. They have their very own food court where the home appliances and mattresses were. Behind that is a grocery store. There are tiny Korean owned shops running up and down the inside of the store. And that escalator is STILL blocked off! They’ve left claw machines on one end, and a little kiosk on the other blocking access.
It’s funny because there’s a French style patisserie where they used to sell tires, and outside, where people used to get oil changes and other automotive work done, there is a fancy expensive hot pot restaurant. So I get a kick out of watching people eat (my family included) where people get oil changes.
The upstairs “softer side of Sears” is a large billiard, electronic gaming bar, and a few other Korean owned businesses. I’m not Asian, but it’s a blast to go, even if the rest of the mall remains sad.

Damn. Another mall about to bite the dust, what a shame.
The local mall near where I live is still healthy and living (Bellis Fair Mall in Bellingham, Washington.) Have to thank the British Columbians who constantly cross the border to shop for most of the life support. Heck, even the KMart is busy.
The closest dead mall I can think of is the Cascade Mall in Burlington. Last time I went in there (December 2016,) nearly all of the stores were empty. The mall's biggest money maker would probably be the Chuck E Cheese. The mall probably won't last much longer though considering that it's now famous for being the site of the shootings in September of 2016 (the mall was still somewhat alive back then, but when I went in there in December it looked like it was on life support.)
For a first time Dead Mall video, this was defiantly better than some of the stuff Dan Bell and Ace's Adventures put out.

I'm not blaming Erik Mokeacek for this. Erik did dumb things like I did. He remembers old stores that never exists like Woolworth's, Bradlees, A&S, Alexander's, and other defunct stores around the city including the one in Brooklyn which was the Wiz, Sam Goody, and others. I remember PathMark which was on Hamilton Place next to Hamilton Ave. above the Gowanus Expressway viaduct near the drawbridge. Those were great memories of my childhood stores.

I used to work at a shitty game store in this mall. It lasted (amazingly) about three years and then it went out of business. Kids used to skateboard through the mall and one kid literally almost knocked an old lady over the railing on the second level and security didn't even care lol. Sometimes we would be open 11 hours straight and not make a single sale or see a single person. We would lock the doors and go to lunch or wander around the rest of the mall until it was time to clock out and go home. Awful mall, awful store, awful location.

So sad to see this mall plummet from what it used to be. Remember going to take Santa pictures back in ‘07-‘08. I felt after the mall changed names was when it really became doomed. My last visit was back in 2018 and even then the mall was very sparse with people and little retail left available😔

Also I think that many of the country’s malls might share the same fate in the near future. Their owners just don’t bother investing in improvements for the complexes and the malls themselves aren’t modern and eye-catching enough for any sales. What’s interesting is that two malls that I live close to (Glendale Galleria and Americana at Brand) are SPRAWLING with visitors, so obviously there’s something that’s keeping them alive. Sad that I can’t say the same for many of the neighboring cities in LA County

    • @SCMediaWorks
      @SCMediaWorks  6 років тому +1

Oh yeah. It has to do with the viability of most locations. There are malls that do catch up with demographics and there are those who just throw their arms up in the air and say fuck it. This mall that I visited in the video is most definitely the latter.
