This video came at the most opportune moment! Yesterday, overwhelmed with all the work I have on my plate (so fortunate am I) I floundered and binge watched three movies that were kind of disturbing in nature. Anyway, I know myself by now I'm 58 years old but still I can see the stress and overwhelming thoughts arise & i allow a certain amount of floundering & I recognize that is a flag to take a moment and just be instead of doing. I made a video showing my 'en plein air' kits and realized the film wasn't rolling....I sighed and did it again then realized I didn't have the focus correct...I gave up and flip flopped all over the place and here we are another day and the sun is shining and I'm ready to face my studio. I literally just walked into my studio to do a little research and your video popped up...how serendipitous!!! Thank you Valerie the work you put into these videos is noted and admirable!

You can't even imagine how much I've missed support lately. I am currently painting a modular painting to order and it is a landscape with a dawn in the center and mountains on the two side paintings. Acrylic. Layer by layer I made mistakes and spent two days on the mountains, I’m already halfway there, but here I can’t draw such simple things at first glance. Last night I cried so much but I was still drawing and drawing trying to get everything right, but when I woke up I saw a green hue in my mountains... Oh God.. And this video for me is like a healing nectar that enveloped my whole soul. Valeria, tonight you are heaven sent to me. I want to thank you for such helpful words and for all the work you do! Every time I get almost the same pleasure as from delicious food or very beautiful music. So warm. This is the treatment.💖💖💖
I agree with the comment you mentioned. Talent for me is passion, but you have to work hard, suffer and be strong for not giving up. As a painter I can say without effort nothing comes. It's hard, but the saddisfaction you can get is worth it. Great Valerie, you are an inspiration ❤
I love to watch your videos. I bought an airstream and a puppy and traveled parts of the US by myself during Covid. Many people said I was brave. I just thought I was adventurous and figured that if something went wrong, I would learn from it and move on. If I made a mistake, I would try to not repeat it. But I would relish my freedom and soak up all that I experienced. You learned from your sweater! Ha. And we learn each time we paint. Keep being authentic and grow!

This is so important. I often found myself hiding the bad experiences of violence or other uncomftable experiences just to keep my brand or image positive, but that's not necessary and I love the way you communicate the good, the bad and the ugly. I am going through a really hard phase now and parallel to that I am creating my beautiful life too and get exited just about to find the perfect mug with the right vibe and color that referrence to what makes me feel good. ❤❤❤

This is one of my favourite videos of yours. I recognise my own moments of growing awareness throughout the years in many of the topics you talk about. I spent my childhood thinking talent was something you were born with and if you didn't get something right the first or second attempt, then it was not for you. Now in my adult life my whole attitude towards this changed, learning about growth mindset, completing a Masters in statistics while I thought I was just bad at math and could not get any better. Also, learning piano or playing a sport are all things anyone could become better at if they understood indeed that the biggest part of getting results is the process of repetition, trying again and again while learning a little bit from each attempt. I love your attitude to life. Thank you for making these videos ❤

I bought one of your prints. I have one of those cheetah throws, WASH AND DRY IT SEPARATELY!!!!❤ When I wanted a large Grecian urn, I bought an old pottery urn at second hand store and I painted my own design to it, I am so happy I did that, everyone loves it and it is one of a kind.
Girl! Fortunately the first wool sweater I shrank in the washing, was from secondhand store and it was my partners, now its mine, so not really huge loss 🙃🤣 And from what I learned since then is that you shouldn't wash wool, unless it has stains. Just air it, and during winter hang it outside, you can also cover it with snow for a minute, minus temperatures kill bacteria 😊 It's not gonna stink I promise ✌️😉

Every time I watch one of your videos, the atmosphere and your voice takes me to a whole new space in my head, a space of possibility, instead of worry and doubt. I so agree with makingorder in chaos, once you belive you can you become what you think. I used to thnk managing all my task and going to uni then studying is so hard, but since I came back after visiting my hometown. I wash clothes, make my bed, clean stuff regularly, I don't skip classes I work for soceityy and life is still so peaceful. It is always about you inside not outside. But where do you get your reference images from if any?
In my country slippers like that are called jutti/mojri. We wear them with our traditional attire and they are so so pretty, you would like the amazing variety of patterns these are available in. I rarely get time to paint these days due to a crucial examination but your videos helps me feel connected to my craft. Trying to control things mostly creates more friction than necessary. An alternative that works for me is what I call, “troll the control”. Sometimes when everything is so overwhelming, just sit back and laugh at the need to have everything in order and recall how everything to this very moment has worked out perfectly and will continue to do so regardless of the shackles we bound ourselves with. This doesn’t mean not doing anything to get out of the situation but instead of controlling the situation we can just hover around it for a while until we see a better picture. As always an amazing video and at a perfect time. Although the long format of videos is much more beloved to me as I find a special seating arrangement to watch it with a cup of tea but hearing from you in a short span is also good, so win win!

I’ve watched a couple of your videos and they are very inspiring for young people and artists. You seem to paint instinctively as it doesn’t look as though you do any prep, drawings, notams etc. which is remarkable. I’d love a demo on how you make up your canvases sometime if that’s possible.

You have explained what I have been feeling for a little bit now about a painting that I want to finish and mind you I was I therapy and she acted as if it’s just laziness or something. This blockage has been sucking the life of my creativity slowly but surely and I didn’t know what it was or why was it happening, but they way you have explained it gave me a few ideas to try and get out of it.

Girl! Fortunately the first wool sweater I shrank in the washing, was from secondhand store and it was my partners, now its mine, so not really huge loss 🙃🤣
And from what I learned since then is that you shouldn't wash wool, unless it has stains. Just air it, and during winter hang it outside, you can also cover it with snow for a minute, minus temperatures kill bacteria 😊
It's not gonna stink I promise ✌️😉

Every time I watch one of your videos, the atmosphere and your voice takes me to a whole new space in my head, a space of possibility, instead of worry and doubt. I so agree with makingorder in chaos, once you belive you can you become what you think. I used to thnk managing all my task and going to uni then studying is so hard, but since I came back after visiting my hometown. I wash clothes, make my bed, clean stuff regularly, I don't skip classes I work for soceityy and life is still so peaceful. It is always about you inside not outside. In my country slippers like that are called jutti/mojri. We wear them with our traditional attire and they are so so pretty, you would like the amazing variety of patterns these are available in. I rarely get time to paint these days due to a crucial examination but your videos helps me feel connected to my craft. Trying to control things mostly creates more friction than necessary. An alternative that works for me is what I call, “troll the control”. Sometimes when everything is so overwhelming, just sit back and laugh at the need to have everything in order and recall how everything to this very moment has worked out perfectly and will continue to do so regardless of the shackles we bound ourselves with. This doesn’t mean not doing anything to get out of the situation but instead of controlling the situation we can just hover around it for a while until we see a better picture. As always an amazing video and at a perfect time. Although the long format of videos is much more beloved to me as I find a special seating arrangement to watch it with a cup of tea but hearing from you in a short span is also good, so win win!

You have explained what I have been feeling for a little bit now about a painting that I want to finish and mind you I was I therapy and she acted as if it’s just laziness or something. This blockage has been sucking the life of my creativity slowly but surely and I didn’t know what it was or why was it happening, but they way you have explained it gave me a few ideas to try and get out of it.

Challenging your demons and fears is just terrifying even I cry like now I want to be better. Recently I tried to be more healthy habits and acceptance to do more.
