Sayanora Philip is an Indian Musician, Playback Singer and Music Composer who primarily works in Malayalam Movies. She is known for her unique voice and style of singing and is one of the most sought-after singers in the industry today. She has also worked with the legendary music composer A. R. Rahman in the movie Sivaji and has also been a part of his team that toured the world in 2010. She is one of the top On Stage performers in the Malayalam and has performed the world over.
In this interview Sayanora tells us her story of dealing with all kinds of struggles. She has had a difficult time dealing with obstacles and challenges and has emerged stronger every time. She talks about how she had dealt with postpartum depression, how parenting and motherhood has never been an easy ride. She talks about the expectations that the society places on women with regards to parenting. How body shaming is an issue she dealt with in all her growing up years and how over the years she has come to accept her body and her own self. She talks about body positivity and the idea of owning every part of your personality.

I can’t help but notice that almost all women mainstream media brings forward are fair in colour and even in times of strict political correctness, adhere to set standards of beauty. Sayanora being comfortable in her skin is therefore a delight to watch.

It’s you need to understand that you are beautiful no matter what. You love yourself and be confident that you are a real beauty. React towards the ignorant people who will try to let you down with words. Don’t be in silence towards racists. You need to react it with confidence. Postpartum Depression is so real. Thanks for voicing it. People at home need to be extremely supportive to pregnant mums & new mums. Vulnerability is to be spoken & should be normalized. Dear dhanya varma... I always watch ur interviews, all are such a class interviews. An interviewer always wish to take interview of dynamic personalities, but in ur case it is just opposite most of dynamic personalities will wish to sit infront of you and open up.. Only one sentence " A class personality "

After watching so many interviews and such talk shows now I realize that the strange feeling I had and the state which I went through after delivery was postpartum depression… my mother was with me and my husband was there too but athonnum enne calm down cheythilla. I have taken epidural injection my stitches got infected and I had cracked nipples I was taking Tylenol 3 tablets and that is a strong painkiller and sedative I couldn’t sleep during day and nights I used to cry when my baby cries because I was scared to feed her with those cracked nipples 😢. And after all these years I found out that I was going through POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION 😢

Totally trying to understand her. But the fact that she knows her child is already taking up adult roles, may end up having traumas in the future and yet not being able to do anything is pretty scary . When parents end up emotionally depending on their under age children and the care giver roles are reversed it affects them hugely.

Kindness is what we need in this world. I wonder why in the world people make fun or shame people on their appearance. What are people getting from it? All my life i have been body shamed. For being too thin, for wearing glasses and then when i put on weight after childbirth, for having a paunch. Even now if we are doing well, people always try to point out something in you to put you down. All these people who try to hurt others should watch your videos to see what people are really going through in spite of their bubbly or cheerful exterior. We are all human with feelings and emotions. When people are mean to others , you can only be so much strong. Thank you Sayanora for opening up and talking about your experiences and lessons from life. Thank you Dhanya for being such a humane person and for bringing Sayonora to this show
