"She deserves all the happiness..in the world" The line made me love Thancred even more. But yeah..this boss fight is truly one of my favorite boss fights in this raid. Plus the fact that his name is a reference to Thancred's own gunblade. Can't wait to see the savage version of this from you guys.
i knew for over decade what it ment. i only just recently learned that it's actually just a different way to spell the same word and not a different word that means the same.
Goodness Rhaya's reaction to Fatebreaker was predictable but still priceless. Also the trauma in Sofie's voice was sooo strong when the mist part started...and I can understand that. My FC was freaking out when we all realized it was just The Burn 2: Electric Boogaloo. Can't wait to see y'all on this one on savage!
So fun fact about this fight. The reason why it's a fusion of Thancred, Rhanjit and I think a little bit of Innocence is because they are Ryne's idea of who the strongest people are. They use Griever's theme from FF8 here because in that fight Griever was junctcioned from Squall's mind by Ultimecia. This tier didn't have any explicit references from FF8 aside from the music but instead use some themes and much more subtle ways to pay homage to FF8
No explicit references... aside from the near-final cutscene which is a shot for shot homage to the ending of FF8, with Gaia taking on the role of Squall and Ryne taking on the role of Rinoa.
@@GayLPer I really meant in the fights themselves. And yeah the first thing I said when I saw that scene was "oh so this is straight up that scene from the ending of 8". I know a lot people were expecting Ultimecia or Griever as fights, myself included, but they didn't show up. Well, technically in Ultimecia's case because iirc Ultimecia is a mistranslation of Artemicia who is essentially Artemis and then spoilers for Eden's Promise
The fusion is because it's a manifestation of her hopes and fears thus Thancred and Rhanjit Vauthry/lightwarden she says that before/after fight? Or during I can't remember xD
This fight was so much fun. I dident even mind that my Healers "accidently" killed me 6 or 7 times by rescuing me to them so we'd both go off the edge with the nockbacks. Just channel it for payback in Savage.
E11 tank buster has a giant aoe that I believe was made specifically for NEST. Corey can use that aoe to kill everyone to his heart’s desire while everyone else knows how far they have to be away from Corey’s murderous intent
I don't quite agree with the consensus of E11 being the best boss ever but they did an incredibly good job designing it and I hope they design the arenas and aoes to match like this in the future. It made learning the fight very simple while also being very fair with "Yes, I died to that, it IS my fault, that telegraph was legit."
I'll be real, I'm glad that I wasn't the only one bamboozled by the attacks. It literally took me watching the fight again to get the line AoEs properly.
It made it a really fun one to puzzle out blind the first time. Even after you figure it out you can still get caught out by things like the lightning line attack's delayed second hit.
i've been doing this fight weekly in ougs without majhor issue and whille i did understand the difference between knock back and aoe never got the circles before now... i actually feel kinda stupid since it's the same mechanic.
It took a while for me and my DF party to read the tells, but it was day 1 and it was exciting to break the fight down every wipe. Definitely a great fight.
And for those that haven't caught on: Blue/Lightning is more dangerous than you think Red/Fire is pushback. Green/Holy is AoE For the Knockback you get pushed to the side you started on so if you wait until the marker is gone and move through it you'll get pushed back to your side so you can survive easier.
I guess the burn was really traumatic when it came out everytime I play it its no biggie first time I run through it someone gave me like a few tips but once I started going I felt like I didn't need them and the second time someone felt the need to explain every mechanic and it took like 10 minutes felt like a raid prep in fact I get less prep in most raids xD
What Mikas said the negative part is Ranjiit with a bit of innocence themes added in I don't think innocence plays a big part in the symbolism beside lightwardens being a fear of hers and Ranjiit is loyal to Vauthry. Thancred is obviously all the hope for her.
Given the relationship she and Thancred had in the beginning of Shadowbringers, and how scared she was of him, it's also a fear. What was said at the end is the hope.
but there is no haesvalgr (however you spell that fucking dragon) It's Ran'jit, Thancred and Innocence, i get Ran'jit and Thancred since they were the most prominent figures in her life (Ran'jit being the trainer for the oracle of light before Vauthry was like "NOPE" and obviously Thancred for saving her and giving her a life to live) but where does Innocence come into play, kinda confused on that 1, maybe because it's Eulmore's Jails and Eulmore was governed by Fatass? but i doubt she saw the guy much.
@@DarkDyllon I mean, he's the one who imprisoned her, kept her entire world in a state of everlasting light as the main lightwarden, he's basically the thing that forced her to become one of the Minfilias and was the one who ALMOST broke the WoL and therefore almost kept the world in that state, and he even ran the society she was technically part of, though imprisoned (Eulmore). So yea, surely she didn't meet him often, but he was one of the most important influences on her life, both as a political leader and as a lightwarden.
@@sleepysera Yeah I think that was probably it that and Ranjiit being so loyal to him took on the aspects of Vauthry and lightwardens being a fear of hers for obvious reasons
The hecking dot this boss gives is just... so frustratingly bad. As a scholar, no offense but if you have that dot on I'm not using up my resources to heal that with how long it is.
What kind of attitude is that? It's your job as a healer to heal people. It's not even like it's a "punishment" dot that people get for playing bad; in which case it would at least be *debateable* if the person who fucked up deserves to get healed, but no, it's unavoidable and literally a healer mechanic to keep the person targeted by it alive.

“To think that this could be born from my memories...”
Yeah not so easy is it?!
Mainly cause eden fucks with your memories
To be fair. Ryne wasn't so much making this as something be was pulling from her subconscious to manifest this fight.

The red/blue aoes is a reminiscence of the catridge chambers of a gunblade 😁

More accurately, there was a massacre amongst party members.
Choco is my obvious fav this expansion, but god damn Hans is so much on fire in ShB he is just so damn good atm.
fun fact Gaol is also how thr crumlin road jails here in the UK spell their name. It's Crumlin Road Gaol. An old english word indeed.
Spofie using her Absolute Virtue knowledge.
It's not ye old English for why jail is spelt as gaol. In Australia, we sometimes still spell it as gaol :)
I gotta ask but is that Sammie(sonic) from fruits group, he sounds similar to him
Maybe
Oh sheet... It's Than'Jit!
Look Squall, Ultimecia. Now you are not the only one who has Griever!
Wonderful they brought that specific theme for this fight
I know right? as an FF8 I rejoiced.. Sucks that we didn't get Premonition for Shadowkeeper..

Red/Fire is pushback.
Green/Holy is AoE
For the Knockback you get pushed to the side you started on so if you wait until the marker is gone and move through it you'll get pushed back to your side so you can survive easier.

The important question: Did Choco get the arm?
I'm sure everyone in the FFXIV community can agree that Forgiven Than'jit is one of the best boss designs in the whole game.
The first thing that came to my mind doing this fight. So is it ThanJit or RanCred 🤔
At least Gaia didn't junction Than'jinnocence unto herself.

Did Choco get the arm though?

I hate it. I still hate it. I hate this is Ryne's worst nightmare. It speaks of Ryne being afraid Thancred will become Ran'jit. I hate this.
and yet... he eventually gives in once you beat him, admitting that she deserves happiness rather than coddling.
