  • Rachel, Cooking with Mrs. G, and I explore a local pond area in Massachusetts. We find a variety of wild edibles and two non edible items. Number 1 thing is to always be sure to positively ID any item you wish to consume. Get a field guide for foraging, learn about the item and any poisonous look a likes, and if it’s a mushroom do a spore print! Please subscribe to our channel and grow with us!

I live in MA and I have a lot of mushrooms in my yard, I want to forage but I’m scared. What’s a good book to get to learn how to identify edible mushrooms? Love the video. Thank you.

For sure, and that's why you should strive to know more. I don't know much about this either so I'm going to do a lot of research before I try my hand at it. A family around me got very sick with liver damage after eating poisonous mushrooms, so I've been aware of the risks.

Do the smaller versions of these mushrooms not have the super slimy texture to their cap?
I seem to have a ton of these growing around my Chester home. Obviously don't intend to consume them until Im 110% sure I know what Im looking at.
