  • Imagine you want to make something, and you want to keep bits of that clear underlay....
My name is Astrid Moors, I am of the visual order, and with great regularity I also reveal some techniques through my channel: today I am going to show you how to use liquid rubber in the creative process.
So, liquid rubber. It works like a template, allowing you to create a protective layer over what you want to preserve. Imagine you have painted a beautiful background and you want to put a layer over it, without risking ruining it completely. Just apply a line pattern, or cover a larger area, let it dry and paint over it. And then, the wonderful sequel is that once the paint is dry, you can easily remove the rubber. You make presents for yourself this way in the process, because very often what you get is a surprise. Besides, it's really nice to do, that picking....
I did a little experiment for you which rubber is best. Ready for the reveal? drum roll.... This is the best rubber for this. Tadaaaa
Masking fluid, and it has one of those little balls in it, which keeps the rubber from solidifying before you get the thing on. This one, for example, is not quite on yet, but has already hardened inside. And this marker, which is more for really thin watercolours on paper, I think. I'll show you that too.
Then, once you have mastered it a bit, you can also use it subtly within your paintings, and bend the material to your will. I have been playing with it for years!
And this is the result of this puzzle I made for myself in this study. Underlayment with leftover paint. Rubber on top, paint over it, rubber off, and another layer, and another, and another and now like this.
I hope you are as excited about liquid rubber as I am. Let me know what you think in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe for more creative tips and tricks. Until next time!
