Choosing to stay home doesn’t mean you’re not a feminist. Wanting the ability to choose to work or stay home is the essence of feminism. Being forced into doing either is the opposite of feminism!!
Feminism meant something else back in the day and even in the beginning of its existence. It’s a complicated word that keeps evolving. I’m happy it was a family choice that we don’t regret about me being home 😁
When I was growing up, it was considered important to get an education and be able to have a career. It wasn't because my parents were feminists. My mother would tell me I needed to get an education so that if I found myself in a bad marriage, I wouldn't be trapped there. (She also taught me it was best to stay home with kids when they are little, if possible.) I think she was right in what she was saying. And sometimes life throws curveballs. A spouse can die or become incapacitated, and the person who was staying home has no choice but to work outside the home. Whether it's called feminism or not, I think it makes sense to be as prepared as possible for whatever may come our way.
I wish I was told that. That’s not how it was “sold” to me unfortunately. When we made the choice I me staying home it came with criticism judgement jealousy and a lot of name calling. I will never forget that day because I cried so much. I will say that’s it’s the best decision we have made.
@@AlejandraLisette I'm sorry to hear your family is like that. My family doesn't really talk to me or include me since I got sick, so I don't hear their insults anymore. I guess that's a blessing, but it feels kind of bad to not be invited on trips and to holiday gatherings. My mom started talking to me again, but I don't trust her. I think she gets a kick out of telling me things like, "I wish I'd never had kids." But I do love her. I just have to protect myself from her.
In my humble opinion, you didn’t “sabotage” your channel, you just prioritized other aspect in life! I feel like you’re still a feminist but not a liberal, extreme one. You figured out what you want and didn’t let the society force you to be something you don’t want to(career woman). That’s feminist to me😊 With the widespread of feminism comes the stigma of “feminine” people. They’re assumed to be oppressed but it hurts those whose heart desires to be a stay-at-home wife/mom. Anyway, love the story time of your (almost) free landscaping hahaha
I feel the word feminism just like so many other words have changed their meanings. I’m with you that I chose the path of not being superwoman in the sense of career driven and family woman. I just chose one path and am happy with it. Now how others see me in the real world is a whole other topic 🫣
I agree with the other comments saying you didn’t sabotage, you just had other priorities. I also find your comment about feminism interesting, as that was not at all my experience with it. I’d love to hear about your experience and “the damage it caused.” I do think hyper-independence is dangerous and unhealthy, but the point of feminism is that you get to choose what’s best for you rather than having it be determined by your gender. I’m also a stay at home wife so this question has nothing to do with your decision against a career or anything like that. Looking forward to hearing from you!
The word feminism has changed so much from where it began. How I was raised with it is so different from what it means today. And what you described about hyper independence well…that was part of my upbringing 😅 i think this is why I realized I didn’t want it. Can I do life without a man yes but I don’t want to and l love not having to do the man stuff. I had to growing up and it sucked
I feel like you choosing to stay at home and working from home is feminism at the end of the day. I think people just believe it means being overly independent as a woman.
I wouldn't say "sabotage" your channel whatsoever, it was more a conscious smart decision to realize that family life priorities came first before over consuming extra makeup that most likely wouldn't be used. And everyone feels bad about a decision that significantly impacts their channel/TT/Instagram but at the end of the day it's about finding the balance for our own mental health and interests. A slow organic growth is better than a fast paced growth imo!
That is funny about the landscaping! Imagine if they did actually finish with yours and left, and then your neighbor called them to see where they are, and the landscapers said they already did the work. That would’ve been one conversation that went around in circles, lol! I have been here with your channel for some time, when you were One Beauty Addict and through the changes and growth. Your content is always fun and enjoyable! I agree with you, family always takes priority. That’s so nice that Too Faced sent you that palette, it’s really pretty! And now one empty space in your drawers is taken! Lol!
I’m with you on not growing for a few years now also going from spending over 5k on makeup a year to review and that’s when I stopped as well my collection was getting crazy. I’m getting now to a collection where it’s more manageable and wanting to try new things instead of getting things just to review. Even on my feed it’s still reviews mostly that pop up. How exciting to get that in PR in looks like such a beautiful palette 😍 funny how you were getting free gardening should of waited till they were done haha jk 😁

I always appreciate your videos and your dedication to your family! I was raised with a stay at home mom but my brain needs to have that focus on work for 8 hours (not sure if it's the anxiety I have). We always make it to practices, games, and school activities. Since our little man is in 2nd grade it's easier with him going to an amazing school 7 minutes away and my in-laws live maybe a half mile away from us. I don't know why other women put each other down for the opposite decisions (totally not you). I feel like it's the lame birth game of which one is harder. Pretty sure, both are a fun journey. When you have the time, please keep sending videos our way ❤.
I think the main thing about being a feminist is being able to choose what you want to do. Older generations didn't have that. So if you want to stay at home and raise your children. Thats great. If you want to be a carer person thats also great. Its all about the ability to choose what you want
Your landscaping story 🤦🏻♀️ Oh no!! That's hilarious!! Congratulations on receiving amazing PR! 🎉🎉🎉 I am so happy that you chose to talk about this. I am still a baby channel with 1200 subscribers but I worked really hard for that. When I switched over to panning because I was just overwhelmed with the amount of makeup that I had bought, my views went WAY down but I haven't lost many subscribers, they just aren't watching. The whole point of feminism was for women to have the choice. There is nothing wrong with you choosing to want to stay at home, it’s only bad if women feel forced into it. It would be just as bad though if you felt forced into being a career driven woman.
I agree but what I didn’t like is the judgement criticism and the way people would look at me because I had a career and degree but chose this life. I was below them and they either felt pity or were so pissed I made that choice.
@@AlejandraLisette that’s sad, especially because most of the time it will be women judging other women when we should just be supporting each other. Both choices are valid and everyone should make the one that fits them best.
I don’t think you sabotaged anything. You simply made a choice that worked for you. Feminism is about choice. What you described has nothing to do with feminism from my perspective. Being independent became necessary for many people and it’s not just about being a woman. As I’m one of your much older viewers what you described was how the American dream was packaged and sold. It’s not for everybody. But that goes back to making choices.
The definition of feminism has changed so many times it means something different now then back when I was a child so I understand how my point may not seem like it isn’t. What was told to me wasn’t so much about the American dream but more of a man in my life
I don’t think I’d be happy reviewing makeup full time as a job. I can’t handle the negativity of social media. Also, its a lot of work to edit videos, reply to comments, film, test products etc. Then the ROI may not even be that high for the amount of work I would put in. Not to mention the possible drama I could get into with some of these very touchy and mean spirited brand owners, influencers, viewers, etc. I think some of those people who blow up leave eventually because people lose interest in their content. Their audience may outgrow them or they might not be innovative enough with their content or keep up with the changing times. I think feminism means wanting equal rights for women and the ability to choose whatever we want to do with our lives. But the definition can get manipulated by extremists on both sides, so I can understand how it can get confusing. I was talking to my boyfriend and he told me that he is glad that he doesn’t get feminist energy from me. I asked him what he meant, and he meant a very type A alpha personality. Nothing wrong with being that way at all, but with his personality he is better suited to a more easy going, submissive woman like myself. He wants a stay at home wife who is going to cook and take care of the kids and household. I told him I always wanted that but was brainwashed to be a boss babe when I don’t have the stomach for it. Literally all that pressure in college and early in my career led me to getting so sick for a few months and losing weight. I now work from home, so I can cook and have the flexibility of taking care of my kids as a stay at home mom (if I have any). It’s something my boyfriend and I talk about because we are considering marriage/family planning down the road. I figured I can have the best of both worlds, especially if my boyfriend continues working from home after us possibly getting married because he can help me out too. I like that you do have an education and work experience so you can go back to work full time if you ever need to do so. I am grateful for my 2 degrees and work experience also. I love the idea of being a stay at home mommy, but a plan B adds more security.
I had similar feelings like you. What i never liked is how people treated me for making that decision because I was good at my job and have a degree. I was name called and made to feel like I was worth nothing. I’m happy you found someone who accepts you. I am thankful Mr Man loves having me home and his face when he walks in the door to a freshly cooked meal makes it all worth it to me.
@@AlejandraLisette I’m sorry you had to go through that negativity! We are happy with what we choose and that’s what actually counts.
Home cooked meals are the best! 😁 🥘 Thanks, I’m glad I found someone who is on the same page as me and doesn’t look down on me because I don’t see my career as #1 in my life.
I absolutely love your channel ❤️ What’s funny is the content you have put out over the last year has been my favorite, so I’m surprised you haven’t been growing.
I am a stay at home mom as well, and I’ve thought so many times I want to start a UA-cam channel but the time it takes just doesn’t seem feasible right now. I appreciate your honesty and humor. I’m so glad you continue to put out content for us to watch :)
Thank you. Means a lot. Hope you are enjoying your time with your baby. I’m soaking in all the moments I have because they grow so fast.
Personally I don’t follow anyone over round the 20k mark as one of my favourite parts is to interact with the person and feel like I kind of “know”.
I found you back in your One Beauty Addict days with the shaving your face video 😂 still use what I learned in that video to this day 🪒 😂
OMG I remember that video!! 😂 We have been around awhile now, haven't we?!
😂😂😂😂 I still shave my face and I’m not growing a beard so it’s all good! 🤣🤣🤣
@@JessicaLee.3 OG,s or OAP’s I’m not sure which 😂😂😂😂
