Can you do a tutorial about preparing hair for swimming and afterwards
alexia ocampo I actually put coconut oil in my hair once a week after I wash it (to lock in moisture) and do it before I go swimming. Afterwards I wash/rinse/whatever I feel like doing, and it has always done well in protecting my hair from chlorine pool water
I put in deep conditioner before going
I use a heavy leave in or regular conditioner before I swim and always reapply once or twice if I’m in the water all day, helps keep the chlorine from absorbing if my hair is already saturated with conditioner, then I just rinse it out after when I shower.
I used to mix in a 1:1 ratio - conditioner and a high SPF sunscreen (50 or better). But I used to chemically dye my hair too, so I didn't want it fading. Nowadays I would probably just use straight up conditioner like Suave Essentials Tropical Coconut Conditioner. It's cheap and CGM approved. Then just co-wash and rinse like crazy with fresh water afterwards.
I saw curly penny say that she’ll slap in a deep conditioner/mask and then put it in tight braids. That way you will be blocking the chlorine from getting into your hair cuticle and then you can just wash it out and rehydrate really well

Hello MzBianca. I have been a curly girl for 63 years! I am transitioning back to a natural look curly hair pretty much permanently. A lot has changed in 15 years since the curly girl revolution. There were few products overall to choose from that really worked well for all curly types, especially my type 3B hair. I went back to straightening my hair. So yes I am an oldie with this and have a history book. What was amazing to me, Dippity Do is still around??? Jeez it was an awful product in the 60's-70's that flaked terribly. My mother didn't by anymore for my hair. BUT... I ordered it last week and voile!... what a change... I really like it! They have improved this product since then...believe me! Like you, I prefer a firmer hold but it really looks good!! I appreciate your work, time, effort, to help those with curly hair. :)
I’ve been using this gel for the longest and it has been my holy grail. I have 3c/4a hair and I use my leave-in and curl smoothie with this on top and I have never found anything better.

I literally went to my local Walmart and bought this gel 2 years ago after watching your Valentine’s Day dippity do video. And I have kept buying it ever since! I have type 2B/2C/3A hair and this gel works wonders for me. I always use a curl cream underneath, typically the Cantu curl activating cream, my hair needs the added moisture (I swim in chlorine a lot).

3B curls, I use a dab of leave in conditioner and then the Dippity Do Girls With Curls gel. It is my go to gel if there is any moisture in the forecast. It keeps the curls from getting frizzy. My hair is protein sensitive so I rotate Dippity Do and Curls "Goddess Curls" gel. Thanks Bianca for being such a positive curly girl roll model. :)

There was always a jar of Dippity do in my home while growing up. I find mine at TJMax and I also love their curl boosting mousse and the curl boost spray (which is fantastic for refresh days). The most I’ve paid in NYC is $5.99 for this brand. Thanks for the video and, as always, they are very spot on 👍🏽
I was finally able to pick up the gelee yesterday at Marshall’s after searching for a couple of months. Excited to try it, especially since I’ve tried the mousse and absolutely LOVE it!

Mrs. Bianca I wanted to thank you for the honest reviews per every product you have made in video. I been watching other videos and I feel people are not honest with the hair product reviews. I guess they are getting paid by other company to lie about there product or they want to get free product. You are just different from others.
The sad part is you believe what they say and you end up buying it so when you use the product it leaves a nasty residue on your hair.
Im Dominican and half Haitian and my hair is super thick and boy when I bought Dipity Gel wow did it curl my hair. Thankfully this does not have chemical that will dry hair. I thank you and I so appreciate you. I just added myself in the subscribe fan.

I just bought the Cantu Txtr products, and am loving the gel. The rest of the line is good too but the gel gives good hold without being sticky or too crunchy.
if the gel doesn't work for you make sure you're not putting it on soaking wet hair. it works best for me on just damp hair

You were absolutely right, Bianca Renee. The Dippity Do Girls with Curls Gelee is among the best gels I've ever used. I love using it. And I took your advice and used a leave in before I applied the gel to my hair. Unfortunately, my mostly wavy and somewhat & sometimes curly hair is on the drier side so using a leave in product after I shower is a MUST for me. I used my favorite leave in: SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner. This leave in helps leave my hair extremely hydrated and actually helps create waves and curls. Since the Dippity Do Gelee can be drying from what you said, I made sure to use a hydrating leave in. These made for a perfect cocktail. BTW, I live in the Inland Empire and found the gel at both TJ Max and Marshalls. The good news is that Marshalls is always restocking their shelves and it seems like they always have at least a few of the Dippit Do Gelee available.
I LOVE this gel! It kicks back the Deva Curl ones, which was my favorite before trying the Girls with curls one!!!

I brought two of the gels when I saw them at TJ Maxx. I have type 3 (3a -3c), low density, fine, med/high porosity hair. My hair loves it... When I first tried it out I paired it with a light leave in spray to add moisture. I do deep condition once a week and cowash every fourth day, so I would definitely use this by itself next time.

T. H. It's kind of normal for it to be more expensive in Canada then in the USA because if you want 1 american dollar you have to give about 1,30 canadian dollar

But often the prices are higher up in Canada because a) the products have to be shipped across the border and over larger spaces of land and b) the labels must be in both French and English (among other things). So Canadians get charged more for American products generally
And yet, when a Canadian product goes to the US it’s more or less the same price which is slightly annoying although the reasoning does make sense

Really?? I’m so bummed out because I tried that EXACT same combo & it left a very visible white residue on my hair & my curls are very healthy & moisturized. I even tried it with my Deva Curl super cream & got the same residue feeling. I guess it may not work for me ☹️👎🏾 I am going to give it one last try & just try it by itself.& see if it does the same thing if so I will be sad to know this doesn’t work for my

I live in Canada and searched for this yesterday. I was told that the brand is fully discontinued and will be off all shelves everywhere soon. Walmart still had a spot for it but it was fully gone. Hopefully it is restocked for a while because I'm excited to try it!

I found mine at Ross! I also bought the deep conditioning treatment which personally helps me with definition because I live in a seriously humid state (GA)

I saw the gel at a TJ max in ky and I looked at it and put it back on the shelf cause I had no idea it was an ol school product lol. Now imma have to try this gel.
I finally picked up this up at Marshall's on 6th Ave in NYC. It gave me great results if a bit crunchy first day, of course I used too much cause that's what I do LOL. A little truly goes a long way, which means for 5 bucks it will last a good while. My undefeated fave is still DevaCurl Super Stretch Coconut Curl Elongator but I'm happy to add this to my stash.
I have fine/medium 3b hair, and like Bianca said, a little goes a long way. I tried it and used too much, which did make my hair feel dry. But if you find the right balance it works well. I also found mine at TJ MAXX, after seeing the past videos where this was mentioned. Thanks Bianca! 😁

Hey hey from Canada. Just want to say that I finally went and got this gel about a month ago and.... Oh my God... I regret not getting it sooner. It is seriously the best gel for curly hair. I stopped using all my other hair stylers(deva curl, shea moisture etc). This gives me what I need for super defined curls, hold yet my hair stays feeling soft. I have 2c-3b curls and seriously so so happy you recommended this product. I do have to add a leave-in before I apply it because, yes, it can be a bit drying but otherwise, THE BEST gel ever. Thanks so much. :)
