  • If I want prolific fruit and vegetables harvests, then I need pollinators! To help achieve that goal I am hanging a Mason bee house. Mason bees are much less aggressive than honey bees and will make a perfect addition to my garden and Food Forest. The bee house I am testing is made by Bambeco.
Sorry for all the wind noise - it was really blowing today!

Please keep us updated on any progress. I just bought one but am afraid that wasps will take over... I’m not sure I should even try since wasps are common on my property 🤦‍♀️

Last I checked no one had taken up residence yet. I will be sure to provide an end of season update!

Normally this would sound weird, but I hope you have lots of bees and worms in your forest! lol

Please correct me if I’m wrong since I’m still learning a lot on pollinator protection - I have one of these hung for the purpose of deterring grass wasps from building in our window ledges where they LOVE to hang out! From what I’ve read, grass wasps (solitary, non-aggressive)leave those long, straw-like nesting traces in the edges of windows, and occasionally make their way inside. Since hanging a similar box to what you have, I now see a lot of their nesting grass protruding from the little holes so hopefully my plan is working!
We do also have mason bees but on our property, they love to hang out in the brick of our shed. Love the videos and please share any more tips you have on this, thanks!

BTW they prefer north facing not south facing. We have some set up on all sides at the Garden, and the ones facing south and west has only a few occupancy compared the the north and east seems to be almost completely full.
