you need at least 20-40k maestry to play this champ ON RANKED and you need at least 20 champs with at least 20-30k maestry to play ranked or even more
so what happens most of accounts are being lvled by bots bots cant lvl up maestry cuz they are fighting and lvling in intro/bots
so with just this we can easly remove a lot of first timing or disco nunu shit in ranked AND bots AND FK SMURFS

Agree. Worse than last year. I was moaning back then but now it is such a terrible experience. Also, around 17% of my played games were 4v5. Either because people on purpose avoided any players and played it PVE, or because they just straight up left the game. And the mitigated lp loss was 24lp in plat 1. While I lost around a fair 20 in emerald without mitigation. Like wtf?
Every game in a rank you belong in is a coinflip, if it werent, you wouldnt belong in that rank and would get out there soon enough.
I remember a game with a Kayle teammate. It is the worst experience ever. The Kayle is 0/6/2, but she is up 40 cs. Even Gold players would chill and push to wait for the late come back, but the new player simply starts trolling and spamming. Emerald and Plat players used to start playing strategies, adjust playstyle and chill. Now it's roaming with these inexperienced players shouting and trolling teammates.
I agree. Today i had a graves who gave up playing just because our adc got caught ONCE before drake. Graves was 13/2 and he wqs definetely our win condition. But he chose to give up because we couldnt get 1 drake. That lead us to lose the game. He simply walked around base until we lose. Whats the worst thing? There wont be any punishments eventho "giving up" is a report reason according to riot

@@js9583 not a bug at all. It's simply elevation. Ever used a free camera in replays? Any change in the Z axis would change how all spells perform because the spell is casted from the elevation of origin, disregarding the elevation of the end point.

If only Garen, Darius, Camille, Gwen or Riven were more prominent in pro-play, K'Sante wouldn't even exist as a first pick top lane. Also he was 5 levels ahead of Nami and 1 lvl ahead of an Orianna that literally had no CDs to peel herself with. Try playing him out of pro-play and you'll see yourself being bursted through your normal W in 2 seconds while being cc'd for 4.

Emerald has been the worst experience I have ever had trying to climb, and yes, there is always a HUGE disparity of skill in emerald games, either your team is the one who knows what they are doing or the enemy team. It's always an absolute stomp on either side.

Yeah 100% agree. Currently hanging in Diamond II in Flex with very enjoyable games - but whenever I touch my emerald solo duo ranking it's the worst experience of my life. Weak mental flaming their team, people running it for no reason, completely off meta support picks that just don't make sense. Emerald is cursed. I am at the point where I play Flex alone because i just can't deal with the cesspool that is Emerald rank.
Oh and like that isn't enough - played 40 games with around 58% WR and have negative LP gains, so I can't even realistically climb out of it. How does that even make sense????

Men, I have a friend who only knew how to play master yi jg because he is that new and now he is 4 elos above me for some reason.(I don't play ranked). He shouldn't be there but at least he is improving fast trying to keep up.
Very common, standard even, in isometric games. Pretty much any 2D game with a "knockup" or "jump" mechanic with a corresponding visual has that 3rd axis for graphical rendering and to check for object collision; without this 3rd axis you can't easily visually display that someone is not grounded.

It was hell before and hell during the operation, but I vividly remember how the game actually worked for quite a while after the op ended. Matchmaking/servers before op health were disastrous, absolutely abysmal to play on. It was a miracle if you actually joined a lobby with all of your friends. Not even a game, a LOBBY.
Riot fucked the entire ranked ladder from gold-d4 just so silvers can feel a little better about themselves. And people try to tell me these devs deserve their jobs

for refrence, riot added ascendant to valorant, and that went beyond well. theres clear skill differences between the top ranks of diamond ascendant and immortal, and it accomplished the goal of reducing the amount of overall immortal players by a fair amount.
but in league, i saw rival post this too... there was literal previous gold players in bottom emerald, and previous d4 players in emerald 1. the whole of plat was squeezed in there. silver just got like 65% ish bigger, and so did bronze. if not even larger for bronze....
i really have no clue how riot managed this, i have no clue how this is even possible to happen. how do they add a new rank that somehow houses bottom d4, the whole of previous plat, and a good amount of mid to high gold. i have a weird feeling its partly due to how its so hard to derank in league these days. at some point like 3-4 years ago, is was hardstuck in plat4, not because i wasnt winning, i had a 65% winrate, but because i gained way les lp than i was losing. smth like +11 for wins and -18 for losses or some shit. so i was stuck 0lp most of the time. i couldnt climb even after 100 games of 65%wr, so obv gave up after contacting riot and them telling me its nothing abnormal going on.
funny shit is, i then somewhat intentionally played poorly after i came back from a league break. i demoted finally. and then i played like 30 games or so in mid to high gold intentionally keeping a 50 ish% winrate. and then i started to try again. wr back up to65%, i went up to plat 1 or high plat 2 before quitting league again.
They do desrve their jobs because they are doing it on purpose... Its their job to make it fucked for the rest because silver players bring in the money and Riot is a company that cares about money A LOT
i mean most rioters placed in silver and bronze several seasons ago, so ofc they have to place new accs higher to make themselves look better
I finished master last season. This season i created a new account to see how fast i can get masters. I started gold 1. And until emerald 3-2 i had a whopping %94 winrate. And when i entered this hell my winrate dropped to %60 real quick. All games are coinflip in this elo. You either get 4 diamond players or 4 plat players. Only 1 thing is common and thats the mental state of emerald players. They all grief at the slightest inconvinience. Sorry for my language
Sad to hear. I been stuck Emerald, and let me tell you… last season somehow it gave me a terrible losers queue where it dropped me Emerald4 to Plat4 within a week. Then I had the craziest winners queue, won 16 in a row back to Emerald 4, and my win% was a perfect 50%. Riot sure wasting my time… Now this season I started plat 4 and I am already 2 games away from Emerald already. Can’t wait for the perma stuck once I hit E4

its one of mechanic in game, like others freezing, slow pushing etc, ppl getting mad cause it went live, but thats its in game for alteast season 3 with i started playing, just get better at game. @@TzUGame How can you call this a mechanic? How The only thing you can learn from this is to flash when projectile coming from the other ground. It's laughably bad and should be deleted or reworked. It's season 14 and people still get frustrated because of it, me included, it's not a skill issue but rather riot laziness. I agree that lol became less skillfull but this "mechanic" has nothing to do with player's skill or knowledge. I actually want this mechanic to be similar the one in dota - it will add another lair of knowledge for people to learn and use

The issue with height in league is, unlike DotA, League does almost nothing with it aside from the mechanics of knockup CC. As a result, the fact that skill shots miss more at certain elevations and hitboxes lack clarity just feels like bad game design rather than something that deserves to be adjusted to by the player.
Not only that, all the ability indicators in Dota 2 align to terrain. For example if you were to put your indicator on ground that becomes elevated, you have it bend upwards with the geometry. In league every indicator is completely flat and misrepresents the terrain.
It's almost like the issue of not addressing smurfing has led to much more problems they tried to fix and don't work.

my first game in emerald this season had a morgana who from the getgo was playing really weird, walking up to stupid places and running around like a headless chicken, went to her OPGG, this was her first ever season of ranked, she was 3 losses deep and in emerald 4. i added her after the game to see what was going on, and she said this is legitimately her first ranked season ever, and that she doesnt know why shes here.
and that wasnt the end of it, in the next 40 or so games i counted multiple new players on their first time in ranked, just throwing into plat 1 - emerald 4 games. ive won so many games at this point against players who you can just tell from how they play, that they are new to the game
I believe if they played with friends in NORMS who are high elo, then their first ranked games will also start them at higher mmr. It’s kind of stupid.

@@petergeramin7195 All you really need to know is that you should not recall or roam while your wave is pushing or you will loose over half a lvl of xp. Other than that no wave management required at all, just having not too terrible mechanics will make you win authomatically a large portion of silver games.
JUST START EVERYONE NEW TO RANKED OUT IN IRON 4 0 LP. Placements and stuff can raise the rank a lot and win streaking can skip divisions so idk why riot doesn't do this. I have been saying this for YEARS now and still baffles me how riot doesn't do this. Stop putting fresh accounts regardless of normal game mmr in silver+. Every fresh account should be iron 4 0 lp.
Only people who dislike this idea are account sellers who sell iron 4 accounts for hundreds.
i would like this, but it would ruin the low elo ranked experience. imagine being a bronze/silver player and continously getting shit on every other game by smurfs passing by trying to get to their normal rank.
they need 2 ranked queque, -"Beginners Ranked" the first from iron 4 to plat 1 then when u reached it, they unlock the other ladder -"Ranked". (ofc plat1 is nothing special but it will fix major issues).
Even back in season 10, I got put in a gold 1 ELO game as my first ranked match ever as a new player and preceded to lose that game and the other 9 placement games until I got to bronze, the ELO I should have been in the whole time. Now that I'm usually around high plat/low Emerald, so many games have players below level 40 that are either completely new or some grandmaster smurf so games really are just who gets the best smurf or the least noobs and feels like I'm never actually facing a full team of fairly ranked players.

Yup. Thats because they stole this game from DotA. In the ORIGINAL DotA that used the Warcraft engine, there was a "mechanic" that read high and low ground. This was meant for the campaign. Low ground fighters have a chance to miss someone on high ground. So in an RTS, thats really good for defending. Unfortunately, that meant they took all the 1010101010 data and just spit it into their map... never addressing the height issue ever again. I am a Jhin main so yea. bot river ganks have been TERRIBLE for me to try and prevent and to try and stop them from running away.
You've missed inbetween zero and zero, because the only thing that is wonky is the indicator, not the aim, if anything you've hit more skillshots because of this since they're harder to dodge. Guy above is coping and seething.
THAT REDDIT POST EXPLAINS SO MUCH. I climbed from Silv 4 to Plat 3 in season 13, and currently P3 right now (havent been as active on the climb so far, pretty much got back to my rank and left it for the time being) and I've had so many people in my games recently that seemed like they genuinely did not understand the game. I thought there was just an influx of trolls or something this season but if there are genuinely new players getting placed here that would explain everything.
a friend of mine got to emerald last season, this season he got placed on platinum 1, but he was getting soo much new players that he got demoted all way down to gold (I said for him to play assassins, he like to play imobile control mages that dont explode anything too).

Old Emmerald 2, got placed in Gold because I lost 1-4 promo games.
In every single one of them, it felt like "silvers vs diamond" games. So many people without the same elo, it was just pure mess.
And as a control mage main myself, those games are hell, cause only assassins thrive in those...
I litteraly stopped ranked and I'm playing on draft to improve enough so I can beat diamond players before going back to "climbing out of gold" as my opponents are clearly tagged as diamond players for years (or lvl 30 accounts with 10+ cs/min and high level mecanics), and my allies are destroyed by them.
Boring, but at least playing in draft feels less exhausting.
@@Masterpouya the situation is the polar opposite in the low elo, in our group we have also a iron 4 player (a rare species, she was on bronze but got demoted all the way) she is getting the good players that were dropped, so its kinda hard for her to climb too.

@@georgec5212what? it's not about him specifically getting g2, its new accounts being put in g2 regardless of how good the player is. He got obliterated his first two ranked games even though he's been extensively coached by pobelter. Actual new players going into g2 would probably perform worse than grubby. Doesn't help it's the start of a new season and he's probably facing last seasons plat. Riot needs to have some sort of algorithm to specifically target place you based on your most played roles and performance. Blindly putting people in upper gold is like putting every 5 year old in 3rd grade and saying sink or swim, you'll get to your true grade level eventually.

@@minato5436 ye, but works pretty much as it always did, back in the day you used to get placed silver/bronze too on fresh 30s now they just place you at the same level of skill, only with the addition of emerald that shifted from silver to gold, with plat being the old gold pretty much and so on
There should be a box to check that’s basically “I’m not a new player” that’ll sort you into those games, whereas if you don’t click that you’ll be put in iron/bronze.
I’ve been saying this for 2 years at this point. Players who want to mmr reset will get to skip a bunch of grinding, players who are new won’t get shit on and flamed by experienced players
this can backfire again, people will make smurf accounts, tick the box that they are new and stomp newbies. only way you will really win is by implementing KDA system. look at mobalytics at your past few games, it calculates your performance and tells you which place you got in your game - were you mvp? were you 10th place? 5th? - now go by this. If you're often mvp in your games or first 3 - just increase the MMR/LP gains until you aren't. I lose so many games in flexque ranked for instance, where we play as 3 premade and us 3 are always/mostly top 3-6, so clearly, because we're not losing while being in the last 3 places - we don't deserve to be actually actually MMR/LP, but instead ranking up as we just simply lost a coinflip game having 2 bad teammates. This can apply even better to soloq games, where you'd often be 1st-5th place, lose and you'd be actually lowering in mmr. why? I should be ranking up not going down, I was the mvp or in 4th 5th place, while my teammates were probably 6th to 10th, deserving to lose their actual MMR.
Right now, the issue is you can get carried to be plat MMR, if you have mega lucky games where smurfs just stomp in your games and you go on good winstreaks, this will probs happens where the system thinks you're just good asf based off your winrate or something, I actually don't know what it looks at on new accs, they should disclose that piece of information but they won't. I would however not be surprised that I am right on fresh acc winrate% being the definining factor for their provisional rank
as a bronze IV i got into a lobby with 4 gold 2s. a few of them were clearly fresh accounts and my jungler's account was 34, started around emerald MMR and lost every single game including promos. That account, last I checked, is now silver 2, having not won a single game in like, 40. It's insane.
Guy's name is super sus too, so i'm surprised it didn't get banned. The fact that we lost as a team of golds against silvers, not to mention hard stomped, is really clear to me how skewed ranked is now. it makes even low elo unenjoyable.
As a iron 2 who also gets placed in gold and silver lobbies and loses 35lp and gains 20lp, I just want to say ranked is the most broken matchmaking I've ever witnessed in any game ever
I get even platinum players in my bronze 2 lobby...like dude what a hell is going on. This doesnt make any sense, if i win 2 games in a row i accidently got high silver, low gold and sometimes even platinum players... riot yust spare me youre bullshit and give us new matchmaking sistem

I always get told by my teammates i troll and inting all the time, like of course im gonna lose im lvl 31 this is literally the worst matchmaking i have ever seen in a game

Well, from a former low Diamond, last season mid emerald player, I can say this season emerald is BEYOND fucked, especially on my fresh level 30 smurf. They should literally take Emerald off.
Riot should revert back the old rank system. This new system is so stupid. Around 3/4 of my games don't even have real plat/emerald, they are just silver/gold that got FREE BOOST. How do i know that? Their statistics from previous season said so😢
The indicator needs to account for elevation and move itself visually with the hitbox.
I used to get to diamond and stop each season playing mid. It's really hard to play consistently when you get one game where you clearly outclass the other person and the next you're against someone either even or above you in skill.
I went on a 6 game win streak yesterday and went from plat 3- to plat 1. average gains and losses were around +27/-22. i played 2 games today and now its reversed with a +21/-28.
I am an emerald player since last season, i played from iron to my max of of emerald 2 and i can confirm that in this season i lost near to 10 games just from the fact that, playing jungle only farming camps, i had more farm than my top mid and adc while sitting on 2 drakes and a lot of ganks, it truly feel unplayable and my teammates are the level of a silver/gold before emerald inflation.
this is done on purpose, the game has "engagement based match making", its done to keep you hardstuck!

I've been playing this game for more than a decade and never had such a bad experience as I have been having in emerald. One game I go 0/0/19 game as supp with a great team and the next game I have an adc who has 0 clue what the game is about and its impossible for me to do anything

I ended last season emerald 2, spent the entire 2nd split in emerald. This split i placed into emerald 4, climbed to emerald 1 by the end of the first week. Suddenly the inconsistency of player skill in the lobbies started to feel massive. Dropped down to emerald 4 where i had 3 people on my team tell me that anti-heal stacks. (I was playing singed and they wanted me to buy orb to stack it with my ult). The difference in player skill/knowledge in plat/emerald lobbies currently is insane.
My friend got from plat 1to gold 4, I'm also experiencing some hellish issues too in gold 3, I play mostly pantheon and nami, with pantheon I mostly crush my lane and build advantage, I pulled pantheon back on my pool because of roaming and damage, but most of times my adc becomes afraid of walking because there is a midlane with 10 kills on enemy team, toplane also feeds a lot, sum it with a bad jungle that gives up all objectives, often I gank more than my jungler but they end up giving the advantage while my adc complains that it dont get any kills and proceeds to get killed in the sidelane alone because he dont like to ward.
In my friends group two people, who had always been against playing league (which was smart tbf), started playing this season. And we all were absolutelty shocked when the two got placed into Plat 1 and Plat 2, while most of us others, who had been playing League for multiple seasons, are having to grind very hard to make it to those ranks. Riot really has to do something about this...
I was emerald 3 with +20 -20 gains went on a losing streak and now lose -32 and win +16 in plat 1
same but d4 down to emerald 1, also seems to be a lot of people inting on purpose in low diamond high emerald right now
The big problem I see with it is that these kids that just keep buying accounts because they know they can end up in plat and then basically grefing games till they get de-ranked then proceed to buy another fresh account. Making it a perpetual cycle
A famous RTS player named Grubby actually started learning league of legends recently and played his first ranked game not too long ago and got placed in a plat game as well. Needless to say, he got demolished. I can't imagine a regular new player enjoying such an experience.
I know it'd look weird and it'd take some effort to do but allowing players to rotate their camera would really help with the height difference or they could make it clearer where there's a height difference by giving some kind of visual indicator.

One fix to the rampant smurf issue and the beginners starting in gold could be to simply ask the player whether they are new to the game or not when they are first starting to queue into ranked on their account. If the player responds with yes, it should put them in bronze - iron tier, depending on their initial draft pick mmr while also making their mmr gains and losses much slower until they have played like 50 matches of ranked; this would disinsentivize smurfs to gain a high winstreak in lower ranks since it would just waste their time if their goal is to reach high elo on a new accoutn. If the player responds with no, they are put into gold-plat with normal mmr gains/losses. This would at least help create a better environment to start playing ranked in as a new player.

I can totally vouch for that ranked problem. New player here and tried ranked to get teammates that wanted to win, got placed gold on ranked solo after 0/5 in placements on a fresh account and didn't have motivation to keep losing to de-rank all the way down combined with how toxic people are since I am "throwing" when I never wanted to be that high rank

I had veigar in my team asking what to build and rushing malignance into luden companion. Dude was lvl 45 in Emerald 2 having no clue what is going on soo yee riot did good job balancing that xd
Matchmaking was the same problem last season, probably even before. I started playing league last season, reached level 30 quickly with mostly coop-Games against bots, then played 5 ranked games and got placed in gold 1, not understanding a single thing about the game. Then lost hundreds of games without even standing a chance until I was iron, where I actually belonged.
Needless to say I got flamed every single game by my entire team, a truly amazing experience for a new player.
Yeah that's a mistake a lot of new players make is that they jump way to fast into ranked and then ruin the game for others. With how the system currently is it sees a new account and then going to ranked from level 30-40 normally it will assume it's a smurf account since that's normally the level they're around. Also only playing bots you honestly won't learn anything and the only way to learn in to play normals to get your mmr which will help balance your ranked placements properly. All new accounts will take Normals and aram mmr into account for ranked placements.
rioter recently said they use normal MMR to help first placement in ranked, it might be because you went from mostly coop vs AI to ranked which is a big jump
@@defi71zh It's both Aram and Normals. Aram takes up to 10x as many games needed compared to normals for the mmr to reflect in ranked placements for new accounts. Can't really trust riot since they can't figure out much anymore which is kinda sad.

Man, climbing in late season 2 into 3 was indeed actual enlightening experience, not only it hard as fuck to get out of bronze 5 but since there was no role select, if you had a shit mmr, you are last pick and almost guaranteed to pick support, thus how I only played support and junglers to get to silver and oh my god, the accomplishement was real

Yup, I had an Iron 3 player in my ranked game he sucked and it was clear he was new to the game it felt really frustrating to play with as a support in gold elo!
Finishes emerald and currently playing high play this season and roughly half my games have had lvl 30s with at least 2 or 3 in a game each time, and I would say about half of those are smurfs other are genuinely new, coinflip games feel awful to play in but it's not the new players fault either so it's a super frustrating position to be in
Friend just started playing 2 months ago, played with my friends and I (who regularly play against plat/emeralds). By winning those, his MMR got hyper inflated, and his first placement game in ranked (which was a loss btw) landed him Gold 1…
you dont get or lose more mmr by duoing with somneone further away in mmr.

Normal games played pre lv 30 affect MMR a lot. There is a reason people pay much more for fresh accounts that are lets say 2500 MMR instead of getting account leveled up on ARAMs.
Anyway, same thing happened here, normal games affected his ranked MMR
I got the same issue adressed on the last topic. I'm currently lvl 37 transitioning from Wild Rift. The thing is, I lost 4 out of my 5 placement games and still got put in Gold 2. So now I just dont play ranked because I'm almost bound to lose all my games. I just can't play against the 1 Million mastery OTPs and people that are just more comfortable with PC mechanics
If you want to stop thinking about aiming over or under targets at different elevation, your skill always goes towards where you clicked. The aiming indicators get tripped up, but if you ignore those and just think about where to click it'll go right where you want.
they can remove the height difference in relation to skilshots but still keep the look of it to an extent just reduce it a bit
My account ended Emerald 4 last season, but placed in Emerald 3 after my first game.
Ever since then it's felt like there's a legit lvl 30 -40 in the game and they just get ran over and it makes the game feel unplayable.
It's even worse when you get a bot lane duo who obviously just started playing the game and both got to level 30, and their versing multi year plat/diamond players and they sit under the tower and wait to die on cooldown.
I started playing in S3, and was placed Bronze 1, its been such a nice feeling seeing myself improving over the years. If I got placed in Emerald today with no knowledge, it would feel awful and I'd avoid ranked all together.
I have a screenshot of a player who had lost some intermediate bot games before hitting 30 and sending ranked. They started in plat and were getting rolled. I saved the replay if you'd like to see. How hard is it to make an account play 50 matches of summoners rift draft before they're eligible for ranked?
The ranked thing is so true my brother recently started playing league with me and he started playing ranked as soon as he was level 30, got through his placements and was placed gold 1 in ranked solo/duo and plat 2 in flex this makes no sense whatsoever.
I think height should've never been a feature, but I've only been playing since 2020.
As a zoe main, I learned a long time ago to never use the indicator to land skill shots. Its all just by feel and muscle memory at this point.

First video I've seen that actually mentions this ranked issue. Started playing this game in December and when starting ranked I got placed Gold 1. My friends who already played the game couldn't believe it and they just thought I was cracked. Guess what, I'm now Iron 2. Loosing every single game for days was absolutley brutal and I got flamed the entire time.

Regarding the placement. ive had an IRON 1 on my team. everyone else was between silver 3 (still low) and plat 3 (highest rank in game). i dont understand how these ranks can even be in the same lobby. The iron on my team was playing sylas mid, and got absolutely destroyed. 0/4 at 5 mins and then he went afk.
I guess its because of the MMR.
All players have a real rank(the one you can see) and MMR(which is like a hidden real rank you cant see).
When you win too many games in low elo then there is a chance that the game might think you are smurfing and then puts you into higher games.

Ranked is out of Control. I climbed from bronze to plat in Season 4. Back when plat actually meant something. Now I play against plats and Emeralds and its shocking how little is different between a silver and a emerald player. The ranked ladder has lost all of its integrity. Mid elo isnt an achievement anymore you can just get placed there. High elo is full of bought and sold accounts. High elo is also full of win traders and scripters. Masters is just diamond players that play the game every day multiple times a day. Duo Que has also messed with the intregrity as I've seen many bronze players start duoing with a "rando" then immediately climb several ranks. Ranked is nearly meaningless at this point. The best of the best within high elo are still the best players but the ranked ladder does little to validate the claims.

As for the height difference, I think the best solution might just be to raise the water level in the river and make the champs walk on water, I mean why the fuck not? Could even have some nice underwater scenery that way and that issue would be fixed.
For anyone who has a problem with aiming between high/lowground, use your cursor instead of the indicator, that basically fixes the problem.
The biggest issue is the visual clarity for those who have to dodge that crap though.
It's even better to see than new player acc's get put into ques the same length of time that a challenger player would expect.
guma's topic is being discussed for so long apparently the map is separated into half so if you fighting in the blue side try to aim at top of the champ and in the red side bottom of the champ. It increases your chance to hit.

I’ve been a bronze player for literally 10 years and I made a second account to play with some friends who were brand new to the game. We hit level 30 and did our placements as a duo losing all of them. We got placed in gold 3 and haven’t won since.

This ranked issue makes it almost impossible for new level 30 accounts to duo queue with old accounts. So, my best friend and I just got back in to League after a 3-4-year break but had played a lot of ranked matches before we quit and finished every season in high bronze/low silver. But I have a lot more free time than my friend has so I climbed up pretty quickly from getting placed into iron to gold. And that's when we had problems playing together. So, I bought a fresh level 30 account so I can play ranked with him and by playing in the same exact games, I rank up so quickly to where just after a few weeks, I am almost at a rank disparity again. It is super annoying because I am not even trying to smurf. We are both trash with the only exception of when I one trick Bard on my main account. And on my new account (with him playing support and me playing adc), I keep ranking up even though we are losing more than we are winning and he isn't.
So I've been sitting in Ranked Solo/Duo queue for about 2 hours every day per game. I am in Silver. I'm a Bottom Role main and an Aphelios one trick.
I don't know what Riot has done. But the game has become completely unplayable, (literally). As of writing this I am once again in queue for over 2 hours. I have played thousands of games on this account. This is ridiculous.

Having played since S4 as well, there always felt like there was a sense of genuinely getting better, and actual accomplishment as I grinded from being Silver 5 to where I am now, with my mechanics and macro getting better, but my opponents genuinely getting better too.
None of this has been the case at all for Emerald.
Emerald did feel like it had people in it who belonged a tier or more below, but it also felt much easier to climb through (whether that player was on my team, enemy team, or both).
I did notice a bunch of my friends get placed a full tier or more above their previous rank though (even if losing most of their placements), but some of them are quickly demoting…
Riot definitely did something to cause people to be placed higher on average. Probably to try and fix the Smurf issue like you mentioned.
I don't think height should be removed, but i think they should let you move more elements of the screen in the settings
I know people say "just learn how to play with free camera" and i'm trying to, I use the semi-locked one (riot, add the centering button to this mode please) but I still would like to put my HP and Mana bar at the top, cause when I play red side, they're a hindrance to my vision.
They could just mirror the same camera options, just making it function with those things at the top
I'm a new player as well and one of my friends is platinum. I was and still am kinda afraid to play normal with people, but I started to try to play it. But one day he told me to play ranked with him. We won and I was placed in Silver 4 after 1 win which I do not deserve since I do not play that well. I tried playing normal after that and I was placed with silver, gold players which my team only flamed me and nothing else. Games were and still are mostly 0/5/2 or something like that. Maybe It's because I try to play hard champ like Akali. I like playing hard champs since it's more rewarding than playing easy champs isn't fun. Like I rather get 1 combo right and get 0/5 games and be happy I did something. But because of it I try not to play too many games with her. Also about distance with Akali, you can only insta proc your passive from west and south sides and not from north and east I do not know if it is a distance issue or just a champ thing.
I've found that whenever height differences are involved where I aim, the indicator is off-centered but the skill does shoot exactly where I aimed it. So I'm really missing what's the big issue here beyond maybe a missleading indicator.
Missleading indicators means skillshots are much harder to dodge since they're not in the position that the game tells you they are.
