    Omg what a race. So much more interesting than this year's men's edition. Also: huge crush on Demi. Such a character, and what an incredible rider. That wink at the end 🤣...

    Pushing each other is healthy, but the end of that race between two teammates felt really weird to me. It seemed to me that they should have been celebrating getting 1st and 2nd as a team.

      This ending is much more fun. We all know they won with each other's help.

      I disagree the ending was not fun but weird and on unhealthy for the team. , that will be the last time kopecky will sacrifice herself for Demi. Next time someone is up the road neither of them will chase it back and if one attempts to chase a back they'll be chasing each other.... now that should be very entertaining to watch

      What did Faukner wrong? There was no more room to pass for Demi! I wondered why she tried it twice and didn't go for the other side right away. 😇

    Perhaps, I am being premature, but it seems like Annemiek has the curse of the rainbow jersey.

    • @lws7394
      @lws7394 Рік тому

      What curse do you mean ? She could have followed with Vollering or Kopecky, or taken the initiative herself. But aparently she hadn't the legs (yet). Or, maybe, time has its effect on form...

      @@lws7394 How long have you been following cycling? The Curse of the Rainbow Jersey is a curse in cycling which is used to explain the poor performance of the World Champion, usually from bad luck the following season. The rainbow jersey is worn by the reigning world champion in bicycle racing, and it dates back to 1927. Proponents of the curse argue every pro rider who has won the World Championship has had an underwhelming following season or has altogether been forced to take time off from racing due to injury, exhaustion or suspension the year after their championship.

      @lws7394 Рік тому

      @@commonsensethecynosure1639Lmao. I think I followed cycling longer than you. The crucial word with the curse of the rainbow jersey is ' bad luck' , as you say. Or the pressure of the weight wearing it. Or the visibility to opponents who won't allow sneaky breakaways anymore. Things ike that.
      There was nothing of that here. AvV didn't have the legs to follow Kopecky or Vollering.
      And we're only in the 1st week of march anyway.
      Btw there has been some research for the effect. And there seems nog significant curse effect in bad luck after a big victory, other than being much more visible in the peloton.

      @andrasszabo1570 Рік тому +1

      @@commonsensethecynosure1639 I find it funny that with a name "Commonsense" you could believe in a curse.
      And yes, stating that on the first weekend of March is very premature.

      @commonsensethecynosure1639 Рік тому

      @@andrasszabo1570 Hmmm... Annemiek puncture twice in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Although Lotte Kopecky ended up winning comfortably, the race might have played out very differently had Annemiek van Vleuten not suffered an [ill-timed stroke of misfortune]. The world champion punctured at the [worst possible moment]: just before the climb of the Muur van Geraardsbergen, where Kopecky made her attack, and the decisive selections were formed.
