Thanks so much Zurn and fellow explaining- I have the exact same unit and it has been leaking for a couple months- I thought I might be out of my pay grade....but after watching this-took me 3 minutes-all fixed!- who would have thought UA-cam would have a tutorial on leaking 975 xl zurn valves??
Thanks. I was able to fix my leaking 975XL2 by following this guide. There was nothing obvious gunking up the valves seats however dissembling, rinsing and returning the components was enough to stop the leak.
The basic concept in trouble shooting backflows to determine where fouling is occurring is the same across all models and sizes. Basic steps for cleaning and repairs will be the same, however there are design differences between our small backflow models so watching repair videos on repairs to each model would be the best.
Hi, I think the best way to approach this would be to use appropriate force. Use two wrenches. Big crescent wrench on the cover hex and pipe wrench on the body, about an inch below the cover (so you don't bend the body where the threads are) & carefully apply force being careful to not damage any of your plumbing. I hope this helps!
@@ZurnIndustries Thanks for the reply. I had sprayed the parting line with WD40 but it wasn't coming free. Finally, I took the whole unit away from the job site where I had better access. A breaker bar on the cover hex and it just fell away - oil and exposure time helped. I found crud in #1 and decided to rebuild the whole thing. Now, having put it all back together with new poppet parts and related diaphragm parts, it leaks from the vent worse than before! Is there a way to separate the three components to help me fix? The valve seats look OK, I didn't change them out although I could (I have the parts to do it).

We just rebuilt a 975XL. The water is gushing out of the bottom drain when either the sprinklers are off or we close the check ports. What is causing this?
The most common reasons for discharge after a repair kit are: -Swapped #1 & #2 check Springs. Take out the springs and verify the stiffer spring is in check #1. -Diaphragm not lined up to sensing line. You can take out the diaphragm and verify the 6 bolt holes are aligned & the sensing line hole is lined up at the top. -Dirt / debris in the system. You can take out the checks, clean them, then flush out the system. If after checking these and you still run into any issues, please feel free to call Zurn's customer support: 1.855.663.9876
How to increase the water pressure on this unit I have this unit at my business which controls the water to fountain drink and coffee makers. The water pressure is 45 psi and i need it to be at 65 psi
Hello and thank you for your question. Here is what our product experts shared with us. 'If there is a pressure reducing valve in the system, then you might be able to increase the setting on that valve (assuming there is enough incoming pressure). However, an RP backflow preventer is not adjustable for pressure output regardless of brand or model.' Do you have a video on how to remove the check seat? Thanks.
Hello and thank you for these informative videos. My question is are all RPZ’s tested and repaired the same way no matter the size of the assembly’s?

Poppet check cover doesn't want to come off! Any hints on breaking that corrosion lock?

Hiw does this thing work?!?! The vent shoots out water if everything is closed down stream.
Could be the check valve #2 then.
