I wanted to take the time to thank you for EVERYTHING you have done for me. I would not have performed the way I performed in these exams if it wasn't for your help throughout the past couple of years. Your immense effort doesn't go unnoticed, you really have gone above and beyond more than any other English teacher, and it is so appreciated. The thing I love the most about your teaching is that there is so much passion in it, and you have so much care for your students. Not only did your videos help me out, I also found them a source of comfort for when I felt stress before the exams, your cheerfulness always made me feel so much better! You have been so much solace to me, and many other people, I'm sure. I hope you realise how much impact your teaching has, I will never be able to repay you for the kindness of creating these videos, but just know that you made me genuinely enjoy studying English, it was a pleasure to watch all of your fun and engaging content.

When it comes to paper 2 I like doing Q1 first followed by Q3 as they are part of the same source and then I move onto Q4 with the higher marks using both extracts then Q2 if I have time. If not I move straight on to Q5 as it holds a lot of valuable marks and once finished I’ll do Q2 as best as I can :)) may work for some but everybody has different exam technique!

I followed this today. I did question 5 well. I spoke about cars being ‘amazing creations’ and inserted juxtaposition by immediately contrasting it with a negative phrase on the pollution they cause. I went on to sell to the council that ‘leading scientists’ from ‘Oxford University’ have records of pollution damage to the environment etc. I went on to explain the damage it could cause there children and grandchildren’s health. I added stats and a number of other language devices. All in all around 35mins. 37mins with planning. I went on to further express how lowering public transport will benefit the environment and protect future generations from harmful toxic air generated by pollution and cars.
I think I mine was good was laid out like
    Hello everyone,
Intro para 1 - I introduced myself and immediately to say in a short sentence we are here to unite as one. To imply we all need to gather ourselves and focus on the serious issues. Further explain about cars etc.
    Para 2
One line rhetorical question - (emotive direct).
    Para 4
One line rhetorical question (emotive direct)
Paragraph 5 final one - I noticed I didn’t add speech marks from the start to the end☹️ will I loose a mark?
I used words like furthermore, however, finally etc. I ended by saying thanks for listening everyone, good night!
I followed mr salles way; it felt 10x better.
I used a wide range of punctuation .,?!’’:;()-%
I completed question 4 which I felt the main story’s contrasted completely as the source A found it boring and had a crash and had a lot of phrases to back up he had a negative time on the train. Whereas the source B had enjoyed the time. Even referring to it as a ‘magic machine’
Q3: I found it really good, full of content to comment on.
Q2: completely flopped it. Wrote a line or 2 at this point my head was fried. I looked at the time and seen 3 mins left so I ended up doing q1 and corrected errors on my q5 (the apostrophes to my best of ability).
So all in all without knowing my grade I’d give this a solid 10/10. Fantastic teacher. Gets straight the point. Should be minister of education and make the UK great again! Every time I glanced at the time I would see students - sleeping, arms crossed and day dreaming. Cheers guys, yous just made it easier for me leaving q2 out.
Mr salles when you see this let me know your POV on how it went. In q4: I repeated the ‘this implies’ tech unique to constant remind myself to write what it implied. I’m just sad I didn’t do q2.
    Q1: 100% 4/4.
Thank you so much for your videos mate! I’d say your better than
    ‘Mrbruff’

Haha! These timings are the BEST. It turns out I am quite a slow reader, so I had to do Q3 before Q4, and *still* used 8 minutes to read for Q4. I also accidentally spent an extra 5 minutes answering Q4, but because I did it earlier (with your question order), Q2 and Q1 were no problem. That 2 spare minutes really saved me from running out of time on Q2 as well. And as for Q5, yes I included my initial ideas. Yes, I included cultural capital (Elon Musk and SpaceX). Yes, I included the future for society (our collective well-being & social relationships). Yes, I made creating the enemy my dominant technique, along with using metaphor and repetition. Yes, I included an anecdote with a circular structure at the end. And yes, the Mr Salles Advice for all questions turned Lang Paper 2 (for which I had my worst mock grade) into something I now feel more confident about than I ever thought I would have. YES, the chains of English are gone; a burden has been lifted; I may finally be able to sleep soundly at night knowing the only exam I actually needed to revise is done. 🤟

This is one of the best comments I’ve ever heard. Not just because thanks me so profusely, mainly because of the way it is written. Normally students expand their vocabulary at a huge rate, and then use a huge number of those new words incorrectly. It’s incredibly difficult to play with vocabulary this way and still use it totally appropriately. I love it!

Hello mr Salles! Your videos have helped me to prepare to my upcoming exams a lot,and I’ve done lots of practice using your methods to write essays. Three one of my pre planned story essays for language paper 1 question 5. Do you mind marking it?
In the early hours of dawn, the sun stretched its golden fingers across the sky, painting the clouds with hues of pink and orange as if nature herself was orchestrating a symphony of colors. The breeze whispered through the trees, urging the world to awaken from its slumber.
A solitary robin sang its morning melody, a sweet serenade to greet the day.
With a yawn and a stretch, the sleepy town stirred to life, bustling with activity like a hive of industrious bees, each person eager to seize the day's possibilities.Coffee sizzled and bubbled in pots, filling the air with its rich aroma, tempting even the most reluctant of risers to partake in its invigorating embrace.
"Isn't it amazing," she murmured, her voice soft yet filled with wonder, "how each day holds the promise of something extraordinary?"
The streets buzzed with life as people hurried about their daily routines, their footsteps mingling with the chirping of birds and the distant hum of traffic.
Her Morning town was filled with sound and chaos. The cars are washing the children laughing and cold early morning wind rustling through rustling the trees. The minuscule skyscrapers towered upon the ordinary people making them seem like a tiny hard-working ants critically bothered with their lives.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the horizon, the town settled into a peaceful slumber once more, a gentle lullaby to bid farewell to the day.

Question 2, answer I did, not sure i want to risk doing this sentence paragraph thing:
The use of geometric language ‘shaped like isosceles triangle, with one corner missing’, may imply that the writer has a very vivid memory of the sweets.
The use of metaphor in the description of how difficult the fantail was to eat ‘lockjaw in a donkey’ may imply that the sweets were extremely difficult to chew.
It may also imply that when eating the sweets they were completely in the moment, focusing on eating the sweets, showing how interesting they were to the children.
This if followed up by another piece of metaphoric hyperbole ‘chipped open with a chisel’, which implies that the sweet was so strong that it could be compared with stone.
The sibilance of ‘chipped’ and ‘chisel’ may show that this actually slightly scared the children, making them even more excited.
The hyperbole of ‘one packet would last forever’ may imply that the sweets were also so enjoyable that it could keep a persons attention ‘forever’
The use of alliteration of ‘six small’ on line 25 may imply that the task of going through the sweets made them feel together, working towards a common goal.
The use of sibilance on lines 25-26, may imply that eating the fantails was so difficult that it actually seemed at some level dangerous.
The use of imagery on line 26 of description of ‘strangled crying’, implies that the children actually probably didn’t want to carry on eating it at some point, instead doing it to impress others.
The use of humour on line 28 may imply that some level of innocence was actually robbed as teeth are seen as symbols of childhood.
The semantic field of companionship is presented through the description of mouths connected together, which implies that the sweets were so challenging that the task of consuming them made them feel connected.
The juxtaposition of an average person taking ‘forever’ and the six boys eating a packet of fantails in a single evening, may imply that the sweets made them feel powerful, especially when together.
The contrast of the focus on the cinema earlier on to the focus on the sweets with the cinema only being mentioned once, may imply that it was the sweets that the children actually cared about
It's kind of mid, but my q5 was absolutely cheeky

hello sir, my tutor said 'DO NOT' do question 5 first because the reading section helps give ideas for the writing, would the influence of the reading section not mean I should do question 5 last?

    • @keikaku-dori
      @keikaku-dori Рік тому

It depends on if you struggle with time usually in exams or not. What i normally do is i come up with stuff to write normally ALREADY for question 5 just incase if i do struggle with time i will know exactly what to write

Use every minute of it! Apportion your time the way I have, adding 25% extra to each question (if you get 25%)
